NVDA 2019.3 Crash, liblouis?
Rob Hudson
Windows 10 Version 1809 (OS Build 17763.1098), NVDA 2019.3.1
I have been noticing this crash when using NVDA with my braille display. Below is the portion of the log. This crash occurs while navigating, can be with arrows, alt tab, object nav. The display is a handy tech. I have not tried navigating with the display itself to see if similar crashes occur. WARNING - watchdog._watcher (21:43:56.531) - watchdog (6796): Core frozen in stack: File "nvda.pyw", line 215, in <module> File "core.pyc", line 545, in main File "wx\core.pyc", line 2134, in MainLoop File "gui\__init__.pyc", line 1030, in Notify File "core.pyc", line 515, in run File "queueHandler.pyc", line 83, in pumpAll File "queueHandler.pyc", line 50, in flushQueue File "scriptHandler.pyc", line 163, in _queueScriptCallback File "scriptHandler.pyc", line 205, in executeScript File "globalCommands.pyc", line 1036, in script_review_previousLine File "api.pyc", line 205, in setReviewPosition File "braille.pyc", line 2031, in handleReviewMove File "braille.pyc", line 1958, in _doCursorMove File "braille.pyc", line 1044, in update File "braille.pyc", line 438, in update File "louisHelper.pyc", line 65, in translate File "louis\__init__.pyc", line 183, in translate Nothing else after that. The original message doesn’t say it is second hand. Ifr a later one
does, I don’t recall that.
It is very unlikely that if it were, that someone would have turned these
settings off. Why would a sighted user even be aware of them?
Additionally, as you will see in a later message, it is stated that unknown
is spoken. Exactly what was goind on needed to be clarified. If the
accessibility setting was the problem, unknown wouldn’t have been spoken.
Nothing would have been. I tried disabling accessibility in Firefox awhile
ago to see what would happen and that was what happened. Nothing,
literally nothing read except the title bar.
My interest was to help have the most likely solutions tried first to save
time and work.

Actually hp aint that bad.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
The website has drivers and such, but yeah by default there is bloatware. Firstly remove all the bloated apps from the store. 2. reformat and clean all partitions on all drives and recreate them. On my system I was able to blits the recovery and extend it since it was on my second drive. The stuff on hp's site actually is interesting. It may come bloated but on the website, bar the support and a few other utilities the bloatware doesn't make it to the site, so if you reformat and get the latest stuff that won't exist anymore. Just make sure you. 1. don't install any update enhancer because that could screw things. 2. don't use their audio switch app. and 3. before you do anything some of them have offers for the cloud, take those if you can. I had the same on my workstation and I just reformat and there was no bloat. You can't get the bloat back again and the stuff on the hp website is quite clean. The only things hp holds are the utilities, diagnostics, and drivers and thats it. Other manufacturers have loads more. Look at my asus board for example.

Re: google chrome version 81
Since I have Version 80.0.3987.132 and when I did that check I began an automatic update, resulting in Version 80.0.3987.149, it's definitely not here yet.
A web search on Chrome 81 delayed turns up a number of articles, including: Google Delays Chrome Browser Updates Amid Coronavirus Disruptions and Google halts Chrome browser and Chrome OS releases due to coronavirus outbreak among others. Utterly unsurprising and I expect that all sorts of release delays will be announced in the coming days. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 Power is being told you're not loved and not being destroyed by it. ~ Madonna

Thanks for your message. My point may not have been clear. I
was just saying that it would have been good to specify the start menu in the
subject line. Some people may have thought that many menus weren’t read
and that may have led to confusion about the browser problem. If my
message seemed to be critical in a negative way or to be saying morethan that,
that wasn’t my intent.

Tyler,
I am just trying to be absolutely sure that the only difference between that command for pre-2019.3 versions of NVDA and 2019.3 forward is the presence of the character 'u' for all versions prior to 2019.3? I see "RegisterTypeLib(p,ur" for pre-2019.3 and "RegisterTypeLib(p,r" for 2019.3 and later. Full import commands are quoted below, but I wanted to stick with focused snippets here. Old NVDA, Pre 2019.3
import comtypes,ctypes;p=comtypes.typeinfo.LoadTypeLibEx(r"c:\windows\syswow64\oleacc.dll");ctypes.windll.oleaut32.RegisterTypeLib(p,ur"c:\windows\syswow64\oleacc.dll", None)
Current NVDA 2019.3 onward
import comtypes,ctypes;p=comtypes.typeinfo.LoadTypeLibEx(r"c:\windows\syswow64\oleacc.dll");ctypes.windll.oleaut32.RegisterTypeLib(p,r"c:\windows\syswow64\oleacc.dll", None)
