How to copy Instant Translate spoken output to clipboard_
Mallard
Hello all,
I have some strings in Chinese I-d need to translae into English for later reviewing and refining. Instant Translate speaks the translated text, but doesn-t allow for copying it to clipboard. I was told I should install Speech History, but the add/on is incompatible with the latest versions of NVDA *I-m using Alphas(, while Instant Translate is incompatible with earlier versions. any solutions, please_ Thanks in advance. Re: nvda and accessing svg element on web
Jonathan COHN
There have been entire talks at CSUN and other accessibility related conferences on making SVG accessible. I understand that some SVG have events that occur when focus is set on them, and it appears that yours might. My believe is that by default SVG images are focusable, but in any case their focusability can be adjusted with the tab index attribute. So you want to add tabindex="0" to the SVG element or perhaps its parent. Generally, images are not interactive and therefore should not be in the tab order. Also remember that all you do by adding a role of img and aria label is to tell NVDA the name of the element and that it is a graphic. It does not effect its operation, for that you need JavaScript.

Probably one of the best resources for a Jaws users coming over to NVDA is
the Switching from Jaws to NVDA guide. It's a text page rather than video,
but has a lot of useful information: https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda-community/wiki/SwitchingFromJawsToNVDA
NV Access also has training material. The Basic Training for NVDA is
available in human-read audio which might interest you: https://www.nvaccess.org/product/basic-training-for-nvda-downloadable-audio/
(it's also available in electronic text and hardcopy Braille, from the shop if
you prefer: https://www.nvaccess.org/shop/)
While we have a YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9Rrmf97-PxqkjbzO6b-VvA
it has more general information rather than specifically training
material.

corona software update
Hi all.
This is just a small update in case you either didn't notice, are to sick to notice or to busy shooting zombies in undead-assault. Skype uwp is being replaced by electron according to winaero.com. There will be a few things missing but the latest preview for insiders is electron and it will eventually all be from the store. On one hand we will lose the desktop version but on the other hand, we get a better universal version. Amd and nvidia have drivers that are updated for this month. Its worth noting that if you are offered this that on edge it may crash with netflicks, the changelog said microsoft edge but I am unsure if thats chromium or the old edge. Dropbox has an update. Some windows versions have an update. And according to windows update twitter support for windows 1709 on enterprise and business systems is being pushed back to october this year. More general news on the chat. I technically could put all of this on chat but thought that I should split the technical and non technical parts of this

Re: Schoolology
Anyone working in academia, particularly colleges/universities, virtually all of which are using web-based course management software, should make a point of telling the powers that be that a "sandbox system" that allows for accessibility training for individual students needs to exist.
How difficult can it be to create a couple of faux classes, with faux assignments, documents, and the like to allow for practice with the system with screen readers? Yet many are shocked when the idea is suggested. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 Power is being told you're not loved and not being destroyed by it. ~ Madonna

It's not that it's not easy to post-process these to OCR them, but when students encounter ones that have never been done that should be done, promptly, for the documents that are used in the central repository, otherwise it remains something that students have to do themselves over and over and over again when it could have been done by "the powers that be" once, and be there ever after. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 Power is being told you're not loved and not being destroyed by it. ~ Madonna
