Re: When nvda keeps turning itself on any time another program opens or shuts

Hugin

I have this nvda issue with 3 computers ight now it's insane. And no one else has had it happen/so frustrating. Does anyone else actually turn nvda off while doing other things? I wouldn't but my husband uses it and it just turns itself on if anything else is opened or shut. I feel like I'm missing some sort of new setting because really it's 3 computers. As no one seems to know is there anywhere else I can write and ask?
I'm friends with the monster that's under my bed.
I get along with the voices inside of my head.

Re: How accessible is Zoom with NVDA?

Zoom is extremely accessible with Zoom. Some things could be improved. However, it is not a show stopper.

Re: How accessible is Zoom with NVDA?

And to make this as easy as possible, for those who want a great audio book about how to use the most commonly used features of Zoom both as an attendee and as a meeting organizer, please see Jonathan Mosen's webpage for same:  Free audiobook, “Meet Me Accessibly – A Guide to Zoom Cloud Meetings from a Blindness Perspective”

Review his overview about the book contents there and download a free copy.  There's nothing like going to the source, and no point in rehashing anything when the source material is available with a simple link activation.

Johnathon Mosen has made his book on using Zoom free. It is a very comprehensive overview of using the service. It is a recording so   one hears Johnathan using JAWS as he navigates the interface.

I wish there had also been a text file so that it would be possible to add notes as you read, but a super place to get started.

I purchased Zoom Professional and will be using the introduction as I start to use it.

Jonathan Mosen's publication is about as comprehensive as you could hope for, and covers scheduling meetings.  Please go to his site, listed in the previously referenced message, and read his overview of what's covered and then download his publication.

Re: How accessible is Zoom with NVDA?

Thanks Richard Sara and Brian,

I just installed the Zoom client for windows ten and signed in to my university business account. On the surface, it seems that the menus are accessible with NVDA 2019.3.1 but I am not sure about the submenus and pulldown menus. I need to try it with someone to have a firsthand experience with it. I need to figure out how to setup a meeting on a specific time and send the invitation to an entire class, ETC.

Does anyone have a quick tutorial?

Regards,

Ibrahim

Re: Setting a key to change indentation level

Sascha Cowley

Hello,

You can do this by setting an input gesture.

  1. Open the NVDA Input Gestures dialog. It can be found under the NVDA preferences menu.
  2. In the "Filter by:" field, type "indent".
  3. Tab to the tree. There should be two commands shown, both under "Document formatting". Arrow down until you get to "Cycles through line indentation settings".
  4. Tab to "Add" and press enter or space; or, press alt+A. Then, activate the keystroke you want to hit to Cycle through line indentation settings.
  5. In the menu that pops up, use the up and down arrows to select if this keystroke applies to the laptop, desktop, or all keyboard layouts. If you only use one (IE, you're always on a laptop), I would suggest using that layout, but it is up to you.
  6. Tab to "OK" and hit space or enter..

Now, you should be able to open a document, type some text with different indentation levels, and use your configured input gesture to change the way NVDA reports the indentation. Navigate through the document to check that it works.

Hope this helps,
Sascha

Hello,
Sorry I did not explain it well. Thats what I get asking a question after a bad night of sleep. I mean to cycle thru how NVDA indicates indentation. Either none, speech, beeps or speech and beeps. Its the option in the document settings.
