Re: How accessible is Zoom with NVDA?
Scott Salzman
Hi Matthew,
If I'm understanding your question correctly, you might want to try using the Zoom keyboard command Control+Alt+Shift, which will move focus to zoom's meeting controls. It will do this, even if your focus was in another application.
Pressing the Alt key, by itself, will toggle the display or hiding of the Zoom controls. If they're hidden, you won't be able to tab to them. There's a better way to handle the persistent display of the Zoom controls, via an Accessibility setting in the Zoom application. To get there, you can tab to the "Audio Settings button" and press Enter. Then use the Down Arrow key to get to the "Audio Settings" option. Press Enter. That was just a way to get into the overall Zoom settings menu. Now, use the Tab key to move through the Audio settings, until you get to the last one (Sync buttons), then press Tab once more and you should hear NVDA say "List audio selected". Now use the Down Arrow key to get to Accessibility settings. Press Enter. Press Tab to move through the Accessibility settings, until you hear the option "Always show meeting controls". If you enable this option, you shouldn't lose focus of the Zoom controls, as long as you have focus in the Zoom application, and using Control+Alt+Shift will always get you back there.
Also, have you seen the Zoom keyboard shortcuts? That page should automatically open to the section for Windows shortcuts (it will take a few seconds to that, after the page loads).
Hope this was helpful.
Scott

Re: most accessible audio recording software with nvda

Hi there,

Personally, I use GoldWave, which is an audio editor as well as recorder, converter, and CD ripper. It is accessible and even has an NVDA add-on, and is relatively cheap. If you're looking for something free, then CDex is relatively decent, though beware the adware! Best to download the portable version, even though it is older. CDex is primarily a CD ripper, but with file conversion and recording capabilities as well. Cheers, Damien.

There are a number of accessible recording programs. The first
question is how you want to use it. If you just want to record and edit
mp3 files, MP3 Direct Cut is the program to use. For other purposes, other
programs can be discussed.

Does nvda work with Microsoft teams?
Eilana Benish
hello everybody I have installed today Microsoft team app For Windows ten 64 bit I am working with NVDA 2019.3.1 with vocalizer Expressive addons for NVDA with English and Hebrew voices the problem I have with Microsoft teams is that when moving between different programs ,and then returning to Microsoft teams app I no longer hear NVDA speech on the Microsoft teems app. NVDA keeps speaking on windows in all of the programs I use to work with but not on Microsoft teems app. I can see the focus moves between the different elements of the program but no speech .by the way this is happens also with JAWS 2019. Only if I restart my computer and then restart NVDA and then open the Microsoft Teams app ,NVDA works with speech on the app . Also I have tried to change TTS to the windows one core voice and two other voices - and the issue still happening.

Greetings list,
Please excuse if this isn't the correct list for this question. Using nvda what is the most accessible audio recording software? If anyone could aim me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. I hope everyone is staying safe.

So this shows the web developer knows just enough ARIA to get them in trouble. The first rule of ARIA is don't use ARIA if you don't need to.

Re: NVDA has Acquired a new, and somewhat annoying Feature
Hello all, Managed to contact a Thunderbird engineer via Twitter. To help figuring out what’s going with recent TB beta releases, this engineer graciously posted archive links for TB betas (use it at your own risk, especially if you wish to report issues to Thunderbird developers in tracking down performance issues):
You must choose the installer that is designed for your processor/platform (win32 or win64; for sake of ese of testing, try win32). For each beta release, please do as exactly as I say below:
There is a tool called Mozregression that allows developers to pinpoint exactly which change introduced a bug (NVDA developers can also do this through a tool called “git bisect”). But since not many of you are experienced in this sort of thing, the steps I listed above is the next best thing we have. Cheers, Joseph

68.6 is great. It does what I need it to do. No annoying issues.
I need to check out web interfaces for mail. I never have done much with that.

If you revert back, you have to create a new profile. I did it. I have more email accounts to set up. You have to reset all of your settings. I will be sticking with the "release" version of this program, or go to something else in the future.

Subject: [nvda] expanding links that won't expand I can't really describe this well, but there are links on some pages where if you click them, a menu pops out. I can get this to work on the mac but not that much in windows under nvda 19.2 and 19.3, actually I've ben having the issue since last year. I think they call these fly out menus. I think this is the job of the web dev to fix but is there a work around i"m missing. Here's an example
Take care and I hope that helps a bit. And by the way contacting these devs is not that easy. I've already tried, they don't really care. Sarah Alawami, owner of TFFP. .
