go into the google chrome settings then help then about.  That will show your current version and do the update.

I was going to try out chrome because of the discussions that have been going on here.  I am curious if it has truly improved so much. I decided to check to see what version I have but can't seem to find a way to figure this out.  How does one do this?  I can't find a way to see any about info for Chrome like I can on other programs and browsers.

I should have said in my previous message that I have disabled the mozilla enhancements addon, and the result is the same. There is way too much talking, and I keep seeing things about how t-bird thinks a message is junk, and when I hit enter on the "no" button to say it isn't junk, I lose focus and have to close and reopen the app. It has turned what use to be a pleasant efficient experience into a frustrating waste of time.

Hi all,


I just updated Thunderbird, and all of a sudden, it is talking way too much. For instance, each time I delete a message, I hear about how that message was deleted and added to trash, or some such. There are other announcements as well, rendering the experience entirely too verbose and inefficient for getting through email. I'm using the latest nvda, and as far as I know, there haven't been changes to the mozilla apps enhancements add on which I have been using without incident until now. My t-bird version is 68.7.0; it just updated to that.

Hi

I manage a page on Facebook.  and sometimes when I see content which is relevant to that page,  I need to "like" the content as the page, and not as me.

Facebook gives you an option to do this with a little Submenu, which drops down.  
I can get to the menu, get it to drop down, but that is it.

NVDA does not find the menu options.  I have tried for two days now just to get NVDA to access this menu.  but I just can’t.

Does anyone know how to get NVDA to access the menu?

I have tried tabbing, Browse  and Focus mode, using the elements list.  Surely  there is a way of accessing this menu.

I have got a work around at the moment; however, this is not grate.  
Currently, the only way I can access the menu, is If I already know what it says.

So, here Is what I do However I am open to better suggestions.

1 I find the little submenu button, on the post which I want to like.
2 I press enter on that.
3 I press  NVDA key + CTRL + F
4 I then search for the word “PERSONAL” because I worked out that that word would always appear when the menu dropped down I found this by examining the page code.
Once NVDA has been positioned on the word “PERSONAL” then I can navigate the menu.
5 I then select the page, which I want to like the content as.
6 I press enter and proceed to like the content in the normal way.

Please say that there is a better way of doing this.

The doc.new approach does not require you to be in Google Docs before invoking it.  I"m glad it works in Firefox as well.

Per the manual which you can access via nvda's help, nvda u in laptop mode will toggle between all 3 states and even to off, or none. Look up in theekeyboard guide the desktop keystrokes if necessary.

Also, is there a way to back up those folds that would be full of pronuiation files as well like you can the JAWS dictionary files as well?
I also noticed the following while using my Windows Live mail for my mail.
I notice that to read a letter via NVDA, I need to do the following.
1. open the letter.
2. Back tab once and I'll see edit document.
3. do a ctrl home to go to the top of the letter.
4. then read the letter.
Where in Jaws, I only have to abuse either the enter keys and or the spacebar to open the letter and once the letter is opened, it automatically starts reading the letter to me like it should.
I'm noticing several small improvements in NVDA over JAWS, but the juerry is still out yet if I'll completely switch over to NVDA or not just yet.
I mainly wanted to learn NVDA because using the program Microsoft Flighth Simulator version 10 with the add on programs is suppose to work better within NVDA over using JAWS.
I also have given Microsoft several recommendations and suggestions on how to make their current project that's still scheduled to be released on October 13th, 2020.
On how a blind person interacts with one's pc via both JAWS and or NVDA and what I like about FSX and what I'd like to see in the up coming Flight Simulator 2020 project.
I know with my interests if I were sighted, I would have hhad a career in the air and hope to have made the right stuff to qualify for the sadly gutted out retired space shuttle and or a tour of duty onboard the space station.

Hello Group,

Thanks to Brian, Chris, and Madonna for your responses to my question
about how to create a google doc.

The cinstruction to type doc.new - did work in FireFox. Added was the
instruction to press enter on sign-in.

The AFB tutorial, ten modules in all, is helpful, but I could not find
where within the modules to "create a new document". The other topics
covered are quite thorough and helpful. I read the modules with NVDA
instead of using the MP3 files. Thanks again, problem resolved!

Hoping you’re all safe with the Covid19 pandemic wherever you guys are, I’m needing a bit of assessment: I’m wanting to purchase the Akapela voices for NVDA when the 3-months license expires, but with help from a friend living in the States. The question I’ve specifically is if the Email my friend uses to buy via Paypal, is it independent of the Email with which I’d activate the Akapela license? If not, how could I change the Email upon buying, so that the newly-purchased license, be associated with my EMail? Hope I’m making sense?
