Re: windows server os
Hi,

When installing Server 2016 and later, you'll be offered to install: * Windows Server year: Server Core (command-line driven, limited GUI, provides all server features) * Windows Server year Desktop Experience: Server Core along with full Windows user interface and feel (best suited for remote access or app server) Once you make a choice, there is no going back without a clean install. Windows Server is useful if you need to create and manage a domain or need to become familiar with Windows Server technologies such as Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), Active Directory (Domain Services, Certificate Services, domain controller management, rights management and many others), System Center suite (Configuration Manager, Virtual Machine Manager, etc.), server-side Hyper-V, Windows Server containers, and in case of one variant, server-side cloud infrastructure (Nano Server, only available to businesses through Software Assurance which isn't cheap (thousands of dollars)). A base Windows Server 2019 Standard license costs at least 800 dollars, and Windows Server 2019 Datacenter costs at least 3000 dollars; more users and devices managed by a server means more costs (called Client Access Licenses or CAL's). As I said, if you want to learn to manage Active Directory or need to use Windows Server technologies in a job setting, I advise staying away from Windows Server. Cheers, Joseph P.S. I use Windows Server Insider Preview builds when I need to test next Windows 10 LTSC builds, which is rare.

However server 2012 is quite an old bit of software and views online seem a bit hit and miss with some saying everyone should go nas. My plan was to fiddle with a dedicated server for say virtual machines, testing of software including insider windows tests, thunderbird tests, etc, also a media server and a something to experiment with the wsus system.

You'll need sighted assistance to install it (install Desktop Experience, not Server Core), and after that, you'll need to enable Windows Audio service (set to start automatically). It would be much better to get Server 2016 or later, but... Cheers, Joseph

If you look back in the original instructions, I mentioned that when you hit ALT+O to open the list of all Thunderbird columns in Thunderbird itself, beneath that list are two controls: Restore Column Order (to Thunderbird Default Order)
Apply Columns To (which I have never used, but it allows you to apply your settings above to other folders in Thunderbird)
-- After you have your columns arranged exactly as you'd want them to be in all folders, use ALT+O to open the column list and get focus on the Apply columns to control. Once activated, you are given two suboptions, Folder and Folder and its children. You will want to use Folder and its children. When you open this suboption you are then presented with a list of the e-mail inboxes you have (generally your accounts) along with Local folders. When you select either one of the accounts, that will then open with the account at the top, and all of the subfolders beneath it, allowing you to select individual subfolders if you so choose. In this case, just select the account at the top of that list and all IMAP subfolders should then be arranged in Thunderbird with the same column order you have arranged for the inbox. You must go through the Apply columns to control and its suboptions for each account, if you have multiple accounts. If you also want your local folders, usually only Trash and Outbox, to have that same order you need to do it for them, too. I would proceed with caution on the Trash and Outbox folders. Re: I'm not able to update to the latest version of nvda!
Hi, It won’t interfere as long as you copy it, although the file might be named differently than what you expect, as the file transfer agent will first download the file to the temporary directory. As always, the usual way to obtain stable versions of NVDA manually (apart from updates) is visiting nvaccess.org website. Cheers, Joseph

Hi Joseph,
I am wondering. I almost never get the full installer from the website now that you have the automatic updater which prompts you with every new release. As per your description, I was able to find the updates folder under program files (x86)\NVDA \systemConfig folder structure. If when I am prompted to update NVDA, I should choose the later option and then go and copy the file from the updates folder and leave the original in that folder, would that interfere with the automatic updates when a few minutes later, I chose to install the update? If not, that's a nice way to get the original installer in the event that you have a system crash where a reformat is necessary. On 4/12/2020 8:01 PM, Joseph Lee wrote:

Re: I'm not able to update to the latest version of nvda!
Hi, If you tell NVDA to remind you later, it will remind you of an update later. Technical: the following goes into how NVDA update actually takes place (a bit geeky): The NVDA updater component will check for, download, and apply NVDA updates. This is divided into the following parts:
When you or NVDA check for updates:
