Re: Any accessible hex editors for screen reader users?
Jackie,
My search was for ONLINE hex editors. There's nothing to download. Also, the point was that someone else said they knew of a few but didn't have the URLs for same, and often just seeing them again in a search list will turn on the light bulb. That's why I posted it, as there really aren't that many online ones available. I agree that one should try to avoid the tedium of download and try to the extent possible, but in the case of something as esoteric as this, if you're looking for one that resides on your machine, that's likely going to be part of the work if no one can identify an accessible one to begin with. It is a PITA, but one that all of us, and for accessibility reasons or otherwise, have had to slog through upon occasion when no one could give a short list. And if you find yourself having to do this, posting later about what you found that is accessible is a really, really good thing to do. Even if you give the online ones a quick try, and identify a couple that are accessible, posting which ones are is a really, really good thing to do. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 Power is being told you're not loved and not being destroyed by it. ~ Madonna

Hi, Paul. XVI32 is accessible if memory serves--& sometimes it

actually doesn't. It's also a disk editor. Brian v, just so you know, often these hex editors don't show the screenreader the cursor, which is what prompted Paul's question. He's trying, I'm pretty certain, to avoid the very tedious, time-consuming, & bandwidth-sucking process of downloading something only to find the cursor, for him, just isn't there. It's a real pita. So, unfortunately, search engines aren't much help in this regard. HTH, gentlemen.

Re: Reading messages list in Mozilla Thunderbird

I somehow missed this part of the procedure. You didn't miss it, I had described its existence, but mentioned that I never used it. Tried it out last night and it works like a charm (at least for all my accounts, which are all using IMAP access). The reason I preached caution, and you may need to go back and rearrange your Sent folder, in particular, is that what you generally want as column order for inbox and any "incoming message box" you might sort/filter things to is different than you want on your Sent folder. For instance, in any incoming box most of us are interested in the field that our e-mail client uses to show who a message is from (From in the case of Thunderbird, Sender in others). But in your sent box, since it's you that sent it, the From field is always going to show you, and you don't care about that. What generally gets shown in Sent is the To field, who you sent it to, which is the important bit on a sent message. So be aware, that if you do a global change to all your mailboxes based upon your inbox, you will likely need to go back to the Sent box and tweak it, and it alone, to have the columns you want to be looking at, in the order you want them since some of those will not be the same as inbox. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 Power is being told you're not loved and not being destroyed by it. ~ Madonna

I somehow missed this part of the procedure. I was using Comcast and had
trouble with messages not getting through so have now switched to my Gmail
account and getting everything at last. Thanks for your patience.

If you look back in the original instructions, I mentioned that when you hit ALT+O to open the list of all Thunderbird columns in Thunderbird itself, beneath that list are two controls: Restore Column Order (to Thunderbird Default Order)
Apply Columns To (which I have never used, but it allows you to apply your
settings above to other folders in Thunderbird) -- After you have your columns arranged exactly as you'd want them to be in all folders, use ALT+O to open the column list and get focus on the Apply columns to control. Once activated, you are given two suboptions, Folder and Folder and its children. You will want to use Folder and its children. When you open this suboption you are then presented with a list of the e-mail inboxes you have (generally your accounts) along with Local folders. When you select either one of the accounts, that will then open with the account at the top, and all of the subfolders beneath it, allowing you to select individual subfolders if you so choose. In this case, just select the account at the top of that list and all IMAP subfolders should then be arranged in Thunderbird with the same column order you have arranged for the inbox. You must go through the Apply columns to control and its suboptions for each account, if you have multiple accounts. If you also want your local folders, usually only Trash and Outbox, to have that same order you need to do it for them, too. I would proceed with caution on the Trash and Outbox folders. This is great news. I've been looking for an accessible hex editor for a long time. Thank you. Do you know a site that lists programs that are accessible in this way?

Re: server software in general
Gentlemen, I am kindly asking that this topic be shifted to the Chat Subgroup if it is to be extended, along with the other Windows Server specific topic as well.
Neither is NVDA centered in any meaningful way. The Windows 10 for Screen Readers group would be more directly suited to Windows Server questions. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 Power is being told you're not loved and not being destroyed by it. ~ Madonna

any server will be easier by using the terminal even in windows that is command line or windows power shell commands. ubuntu mate is the easiest to load, set up and use to get going quickly.

Re: windows server os
Josh Kennedy
just use ubuntu mate. its free and you can install it without assistance. if you are just using it for a server it will work fine as far as accessibility goes.

Re: NVDA Audio Themes Add On
You know, it's really becoming beyond frustrating to give those asking for help direct links to the download pages for the things needed only to have those be ignored.
I already offered the direct link to the Add-Ons Documentation add-on, which is right there, again, and to the NVDA Audio Themes package file: audiothemes-6.0b2.nvda-addon I've installed both, and tested every blessed thing I've mentioned. It's time that you, Bhanu, did the same. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 Power is being told you're not loved and not being destroyed by it. ~ Madonna

Re: Any accessible hex editors for screen reader users?

Hello
UltraEdit has a very good hex editing
feature and many other powerful editing functions. This is a real
programmer's or techie's editor. But it is not free. I think it
costs around $60. I have it and do things with it that I have not
been able to do in other editors I have worked with. Notepad++
comes closest, but it doesn't offer hex editing.

Hi,

I always thought of a hex editor as something that can edit binary files rather than something that works with colours. I could be wrong though. Cheers, Damien.

Hi, What do you mean a hex editor? Are you looking for something that converts RGB, CMY/CMYK, and YIQ color definitions into hex values, or are you looking for a full featured color wheel? Without some programming/math experience, I don't know of any accessible hex editors/color wheels. However, I am working on a hex editor/color wheel, of which a portion will be used in my add-on called Developer toolkit. If you have any specifics you want to talk about, get me off list.
