Unless this has changed, look under the
Advanced menu, the Configuration option which exposes a huge list
of configuration settings. Move down to Advanced/Problem solving,
then to Enable old style (Pre-V9) toolbars and menus (quicker load
times and more compatible with some screen readers) and turn it on
with the Spacebar. See if that might fix the issue. They have
always made provision for accessibility, so I would think there
should be accessibility settings in the newer version also.
Keep well

Re: Ultra Edit issues
If this conversation is to be extended, it belongs on the Chat Subgroup, as it deals with the configuration of Ultra Edit. And, yes, I know that's so it can be made accessible, but it's still about how to configure Ultra Edit, which is a completely separate issue from NVDA (or any other screen reader for that matter).

The latest release is very different than the version you are using. The menus have radically changed. I had to turn off colour syntax to get things to read out the edit field correctly. Still playing with the settings.

Hi
I am using UltraEdit version 10.10B. I believe there are newer updates, but I have not updated it yet. I have used it without any issues with Window-Eyes until Window-Eyes died. Since then I am using it with NVDA. I don't know how well it works with the Shark, but with Window-Eyes and NVDA there have not been any accessibility issues at all.
Kind regards

Not sure how they developed this, but frames is what are usually done to incorporate one web page within another in such a way that they can’t interact with them directly. It almost sounds like the SIM developer is doing something similar to screen sharing functions for the browser within the browser. This can’t work for NVDA because the entire shared screen shows up as one control, unless you use NVDA remote to parse the fields on the remote screen.

Re: NVDA DAISY structure error

EPUB3 is a merging of Daisy and epub. The primary difference is that daisy was distributed as a directory and epub as a zip compressed directory. EPUB also has a mime file that I have never seen in daisy books, but I think it is fairly standard.

nvda@nvda.groups.io <nvda@nvda.groups.io> External email alert: Be wary of links & attachments. Hi Curtis,
I might take you up on that! Or can I ask what software you use please? I've been looking for daisy software to try to fix this. The Daisy Consortium only push ePub now and have abandoned DAISY.
So, I guess the other question is what format does everyone read audio books in? I never even knew that ePub was an audio format until recently, but should I be looking at converting the material to ePub 3 instead? (We already supply ePub in the electronic text but that is just a text based book, without audio).

Have you tried, for instance, Alt+plus a letter? The same thing happens with me in latest Edge, where the alt key alone doesn’t work. Hope this helps some.

Ultra Edit issues

All – Christo
I have just installed the demo version of Ultra Edit latest release. The menus work fine with NVDA or Jaws. But I cannot read the code always correctly. Using NVDA, I get 4 of the 8 lines in my test sample. It is HTML code that I am reviewing. What settings does need to be set to get this to work?

NVDA ocr and image describer solution for windows 7 users
amir din
Hi,
for windows 7 users, is there addon for nvda for ocr? I know there was nvda ocr addon by nvaccess, but it is not working in latest version. So any suggestion or alternative? or how to make it works with the latest version? as for the second one, the image describer, this is not related to windows 7, but the addons for that also wont work with latest version of nvda. Is there alternative? or workaround? Because, with the ocr addon, i can read hard coded subtitles on videos. thanks

Re: Tips for a new nvda user
hi.
many people whome i know, dont use nvda because of several reasons: i disagree with most of them! 1. they dont know nvda and simply say: because its free, it means that its not good, or its imperfect, even one of them told that nvda is like a toy! not screen reader of daily use! i became very sad for there claim, i really love nvda, and promised to use it till the end of my life, even when one day i become sighted! i dont believe that nvda is only for blind users, its one of the divine blessings for me that i never want to miss it! 2. nvda cursor are not simple as jaws cursor. i agree with this part, and i wish that nvda cursor worked exactly as jaws cursor without need to use numpad! 3. they simply dont love espeak and they wish to use eloquence, but i disagree about this part too! iven voice i believe that its the most lovely, sweet, friendly, and enjoyable voice and that i even dont think about other voices and synthesizers. i can read hundreds of pages of book with this excellent voice using SayAll! its voice is very understandable, (but i only love english US voice and its one of the main reasons that i cant use beyond 2017.2 and 2017.3 versions of nvda. 2017.4 and later, has not the capability of using persian plus english US! 4. many people like me, hate ribbons and they are glad for using jaws, because jaws has virtual ribbon menues, that enables them to use ribbons as they use classic menues! 5. jaws is very customizable, and has numerous settings for change. but honestly, i really love the simplicity of nvda settings! hope that help you and nvda developers. God bless you! sure, I use "book wizard creator," from APH, but 2 things: (1) it is antiquated, :) and (2) all of what comes on the CD is not the entire program and those who talk about the software are not that easy to track down any more since it was written and revised in about 2011. :)

If you wish to try it, however, you'd need to communicate with APH. Honestly, I'll do it with pleasure, just because I enjoy fixing things like that. :) Curtis Delzer HS K 6 V F O Rialto, CA curtis@calweb.com

Alt Keys In Edge Not Working For Menu Access
Ron Canazzi
Hi Group,
I have alluded to this topic in the topic about Edge and PDF files. I thought I would create a new topic so as to get focus more on it. I confess I should have done this a few hours earlier; sorry for the confusion. In any case, when I went to test Sascha's issue with PDF in Edge VS Acrobat Reader, I found that in the latest version of Edge, that the hotkeys involving with activating menus such as home, settings and such, the hotkeys simply don't work. I have to use the tab key to move to the tool bar and then activate the buttons with space bar. Oddly enough, when I highlight these buttons, I hear NVDA say: 'settings and more alt + S' and home alt + h.' Has anyone else noticed this in latest version of Edge? -- They Ask Me If I'm Happy; I say Yes. They ask: "How Happy are You?" I Say: "I'm as happy as a stow away chimpanzee on a banana boat!"

Hi Daniel, Sorry for the late reply. With Braille Extender, you have a special command to show hour
& date. By default, on Freedom Scientific displays, it's
mapped to dots(1+2+5+7)+space. I'll try to work around the possibility to emulate shortcuts
