Re: Add-On Updater: Is there a way to force it to check for updates?
Roger Stewart
You can also open NVDA menu, then go to
Tools, then check for add on updates. This will check for any add
ons that need updating even if the automatic check for updates is
disabled for some reason.

Yeah. I deactivated a lot of the nonsense utorrent comes with and it works pretty well now and doesn't crash. Still, there are some snags here and there...

Yeah, it works well, but is slower than clients like TWBlue or
Open Tween. I prefer Open Tween, but is banned now, so I'm using
TWBlue.

Discord is a chat client that also does voice as well. You can set roles and restrictions so that let's say you see a channel, but bryan does not, or you and bryan see a channel but I an Robert do not etc etc etc. Or if bryan was miss behaving (sorry I'm throwing you under tghe buss a lot) I could restrict him to see none of the server or to see one channel. Hello,
Twitter's website is very accessible. You don't need any third party client. Just press shift+/ in focus mode for a list of shortcuts and you will be ready to go. You will be very efficiently able to navigate the website with half an hour of practice. -- Regards, Sociohack

Re: Help to join the Bugzilla for Thunderbird with NVDA
NOTE: I have made a moderator decision to respond to this, on group, because I believe it is critically important for anyone, using any software, to be able to report bugs when they find them. A very great many organizations use Bugzilla, so I will give the initial step-by-step instructions for getting a Bugzilla account for a specific organization. For Thunderbird that would be Mozilla, but other well-known projects like Open Office, Libre Office, a number of Linux distros, and more use Bugzilla. The steps outlined should be the same for any of them, you just have to get to the correct Bugzilla site for the organization/product in question first. Not every organization that uses Bugzilla is listed on their Installation List page. You may need to contact support for the product you want to report about to determine whether they are using Bugzilla, GitHub, or some other mechanism entirely for bug reporting.
Setting up a Bugzilla Account Using a Screen Reader 1. Go to the Bugzilla Installation List Page and search for the project you’re interested in getting a Bugzilla Account for. If you’re looking to set yourself up for Mozilla products (Firefox & Thunderbird) then search on Mozilla. There are about 150 organizations listed, and I can’t know which one you are looking to create a Bugzilla account for. Each Bugzilla instance belongs to the organization that’s using it and you need separate accounts for each organization you wish to be able to report bugs for. Activate the link for that organization. 2. Activate New Account link on that organization's Bugzilla page. 3. On page that opens, under Create an account, navigate to email address edit box and enter email address. 4. Tab to checkbox for “I have read . . .” and activate it. 5. Use the b navigation shortcut to take you to the Create Account button and activate it. 6. At this point you’ll be sent an email to the address you used with a link that you must activate to continue account creation. 7. On the browser window that pops up you will be asked for a display name/real name followed by a password and confirm password. Passwords must be at least 12 characters and contain uppercase letters, lowercase letters, digits, and certain listed special characters. This was as far as I got recently with someone in setting up the Bugzilla Account, and this completed the process. I have not written, nor attempted to write, anything related to how to submit a bug report for any specific product. I am now locking this topic, as it is not directly NVDA related. I will be happy to continue to assist, if needed, on the Chat Subgroup. Start a new topic there if you need additional assistance related to Bugzilla in general or for Mozilla products in particular. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 Science has become just another voice in the room; it has lost its platform. Navigating Google Images search results
Luke Robinett
Hi,
While I generally find most Google sites/apps very accessible, I continue to struggle with the search results from Google images. I can get to where the search results are listed but when I click on one of them, it’s unclear what is happening. Is it showing me and enlarged version of the photo? If so, how do I navigate to that so I can copy or save it? Or is it taking me to the source website where the image is from? I did some googling before posting this but couldn’t find any helpful information. Any tips or best practices would be much welcomed.

Re: Screen reader changes for discord.
According to its website, Discord is a free, secure text and voice chat solution for gamers. While its design reflects its stated target market, the service has quickly become a way for groups of people to connect and chat with each other. These groups are joined in virtual areas called servers, and these servers can be host to different categories called channels to help organize the conversation. The advantage here is that unlike a Skype or WhatsApp group where every message in the conversation gets sent to everyone in the group, a user can configure Discord so that they only receive notifications from certain channels, or on certain conversation topics, from a server. It is intended to keep people from feeling like they are in a sensory overload version of hell caused by too many notifications. Users can also live stream to servers, or voice chat in designated channels on servers. Like any service, the first step to using it is to create an account.

Good afternoon, If you don’t mind, what is discord please? Thanks
From: nvda@nvda.groups.io [mailto:nvda@nvda.groups.io] On Behalf Of Robert Kingett
Below, you will find screen reader updates Discord has made. I haven't tried this out yet, but first, a few other things. Screen reader guide for Discord. The changeling has made a really great screen reader guide for Discord. Donate to them if at all possible. How to get discord. The most accessible way is going to the Discord Ninite page. The software on that page is a few versions behind but just let it update upon starting the app, after install. The screen reader changes.I copied this from the release notes and applied my own formatting.
We’ve made several improvements to how Screen Readers interact with Discord. These include:
It really bugs me they add the, and more, part, but this is a really, really, great step in the right direction though. Still no accessibility feedback email though.

Re: A question about Vocalizer
The Gamages
Hello,
Looking at the Code factory site, there ar now two different versions
of
the add on for eloquence and vocalizer synthesizers, one for NVDA
version
2019.3 onwards and a different one for earlier versions, that is the add on
which only works with NVDA. When I tried to update to the latest version of
NVDA, I got a message saying that my old add on was not compatible, or
something
like that.
As my vocalizer was really old, I needed to buy a new version, or so it
seemed anyway, I would hope that those who have recently purchased an add on
for
earlierversions of NVDA would not have to pay again, but I don’t know the
situation in that respect.
I hope this clarifies things a little.
Best
Regards,
Jim.

I use NVDA OCR to recognise the window in q-bit-torrent and then it reads the download progress to me usually with no problems.
