accessing mail headers in Thunderbird
Akshaya Choudhary
Hello guys,
I cannot access the mail headers of the newsletters I receive in thunderbird. In the message, when I tab, it goes to several links inside the message itself and never lands in the header section, where FROM and SUBJECT information is given. In contrast, headers of other normal mails are easily accessible by pressing the TAB key several times. Please help. -- Regards, Sociohack

Re: Using a dual boot system with NVDA
Hi, Audacity might be an interesting alternative. But first, as Brian pointed out, try using those two programs under Windows 10 (I think what Bill might be referring to is classic theme, which was the recommended mode for screen reader users as late as early 2010’s, but not anymore). Cheers, Joseph

Never used virtual machines. I am using Sonar 8.5 and Cake Talk. After talking to Bill McCann yesterday he said those two programs will no longer with Win10 because the “Windows Classic view” feature is removed. His comment was, “Well that ws a great run but the program is history.” Sad since I put around $5,000.00 in to the programs since late 1990’s. I am a retired totally blind assistive tech instructor. I loved Sonar and Cake Talk because they allowed for multi-track recording. Then when saving, Sonar mixed the tracks together In to one file. Of course you could make any changes to each track before saving the complete package. It worked in our recording studio we had at the school and in my recording studio at home. I do use Sound Forge weekly for church podcasts and podcast for the educational center where I work once a week. But I don’t know how or if it is even possible to do multi-track recordings with SF.
In Sonar, I could have a track of music playing and a vocalist would be singing. I’ve added upt to 16 tracks in Sonar. Then saving puts all together as explained above. Sorry for such a long email.

Out of curiosity, what software do you use that doesn't work in Windows 10?
To answer your question, NVDA will not come up early enough in the boot process for you to see the boot choices. Have you considered virtual machines?

I have programs that date from the XP era that will still run under Windows 10 (all of those require compatibility mode). As I said in private correspondence, I have yet to encounter a single Win7 era program that will not run perfectly well under Windows 10, and I really doubt those two are any exception. I'd certainly be trying them on a Windows 10 system before accepting this assertion. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 Science has become just another voice in the room; it has lost its platform. I’ve never used a dual system boot on the same computer. But my situation makes this necessary. Will NVDA let me hear the choice when the computer gets up to that point? Thanks for any help in advance.

Hi there
You can use your old license with the new driver, of course. just be sure to deactivate your license before upgrading.

Re: A question about Vocalizer
The Gamages
Hello,
Thank you for that, my version was really old, from Nuance, so I had to
buy a new product, I got it from a reseller and, unfortunately,
code
factory had not informed them of the new version for NVDA 2019.3 onwards, so
I
got the older version. We think the activation code which I was given for
the
product should work with the latest version, which I have downloaded from
the
Code factory site, but, if I update to the latest NVDA, I will lose my
really
old version and will rely on the activation code working.
Sorry for the ramble, especialy as it was Code factory that supplied
the
product to my re seller, I await further advice from my re seller.
Best
Regards,
Jim.

I find the mobile twitter website more usable for me. The regular
site tends to run sluggishly on my computer, making it hard to
navigate.

Looks like TW Blue is working on Mastodon support. Ignore my closed pull request. I was trying to suggest Mastodon support as a suggestion and saw they were experimenting with Mastodon. Here's a screen reader guide for Mastodon in case anybody missed my earlier message.

I had to uninstall, then reinstall TWBlue about 2 weeks ago because it was acting up. Since then, things have worked a lot better. There is a client called The Qube that some people use. Pauline

You can also open NVDA menu, then go to Tools, then check for add on updates. This will check for any add ons that need updating even if the automatic check for updates is disabled for some reason.

Hi,
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
This is the author of Add-on Updater add-on speaking... In order to see "check for add-on updates" item, you MUST install Add-on Updater add-on. NVDA does not have a native functionality to check for add-on updates yet, although there is an ongoing discussion as to how to bring this to life in a future release. Cheers, Joseph
