yes, it is possible, you can disable updates for 7 days.
as lon as you don't get to the updates and search for updates, you never get updates anymore.
but I'm not sure if it is
clever to do so!
in the updates of windows you find also the updates for windows defender.
So think a moment about whether you really want!

WhatsApp app for Windows 10

Morne van der Merwe

Hello listers,

I am running the latest versions of both Windows 10 and NVDA.

Does anyone use the WhatsApp app for Windows 10?  How accessible is it with NVDA?

Have a wonderful day and stay safe.

This issue came up with one of their updates in the last 2 weeks. What you can do is to maximize the participants Window so that you have as much as possible users in your participants List visible.

Hi all. so if you are in or particularly hosting a meeting with 5 or 6 participants, this doesn't seem to be an issue. However, I was in a meeting today with 48 participants and when I open the participant list to perform some actions on people, NVDA doesn't scrole the list properly. It seems to be a list box but if I arrow up and down, it only shows me 6 or 7 and doesn't wrap. I actually think this might be new as I don't remember this being a thing a month or so ago. Has anyone figured out a good way of making this work?

Re: accessing mail headers in Thunderbird

Ron Canazzi

Hi Brian,

I have my normal headers displayed, but for some reason, some e-mails when displaying are difficult to access the headers. Normally you should be able to back tab to the headers, but sometimes, I find I have to press control + end to move to the bottom of the message and then press tab a number of times until I start hearing the headers.  Just why this happens I can't figure out.

On 4/26/2020 4:58 PM, Brian Vogel wrote:

ALT+V, H, A shows all of the header in a split window above the message body.

ALT+V, H, N shows the normal (abbreviated) header fields that most people are interested in.

You can't get to what is not on display.  It also has nothing to do with NVDA, really.  It's just a truism.

Question: Are there any tutorials on backup and restore helpful for NVDA users who totally rely on speech or Braille?

Laurie Mehta

Does anyone have a tutorial on image backup and restore using something that works well with NVDA?
Thanks, LM

Perhaps a document should be composed walking newbies through the steps of taking an image backup and restoring it. I personally use active@ diskimage lite to do this. Because you can take a snapshot while the system is running and then restore it from the windows PE. This is the procedure I've been doing for a long time. But I'd be interested to find out how many average computer users know how to do such a thing, or even know it's possible, let alone possible to restore such an image backup with speech. Such a tutorial would greatly benefit the community, I think.

For StationPlaylist NVDA add-on users: about to retire from active add-on development, feature suggestions will be accepted until May 31, 2020

Hello StationPlaylist users, especially for NVDA users using SPL add-on,

First, on the eve of release of SPL add-on 20.05.1, I’d like to thank everyone for your valuable feedback for the past six years. When I took over StationPlaylist add-on development in December 2013, I had no clue as to what SPL was (I sort of did). Since then, I’ve been learning about SPL suite, along with transforming a small add-on that announced changes on Studio screen to one of the most powerful and productive add-ons the NVDA community has seen. Some of you may say that NVDA add-on surpasses scripts for other screen readers, but I still think the add-on has a long way to go (a special thank you to Brian Hartgen and his JAWS scripts, along with Jeff Bishop (now at Microsoft) and his Window-Eyes app that gave me inspiration on some features).

For the past few months, some of you may have heard a rumor that I’m stepping away from SPL add-on development soon. Yes, that rumor is true: I’m stepping down from active development of SPL add-on next year due to upcoming life events. At least one of them will require me to devote time away from add-on development, so much to a point that I need to part ways with an add-on that taught me many things.

But before I hand over SPL add-on to the community for further development, I’d like to give you a chance to provide feature suggestions for a limited time. I call this a limited time offer because once the suggestions period is over, there is no going back: after May 31, 2020, no feature suggestions will be accepted until the next developer comes onboard. The only exceptions will be a feature that is implemented in future NVDA releases that you think may interest SPL add-on users, or if a future version of SPL suite introduces changes that add-on users may need to use; of these, SPL suite changes will take precedence over NVDA changes.

Although I expect to retire from SPL add-on development around this time next year, I’m closing feature suggestions window early so I can think about your feedback this summer and tell you if I can work on your suggestions in the fall. Fall will also mark a turning point for SPL add-on development, as bug fixes will be prioritized over features I might be able to implement.

You can send me feature suggestions directly, or if you are a member of NVDA-SPL mailing list on Groups.IO, you can post suggestions there. Also, if you are really curious as to how SPL add-on for NVDA works at the source code level, or learn the code so you can maintain the add-on, you can get the source code from:

https://github.com/josephsl/stationplaylist

Note: SPL add-on for NVDA is released under GNU General Public license version 2; the above source code link satisfies the source code availability clause.

If you have any questions or comments 9including bug reports and suggestions), please feel free to contact me. Thanks.

Cheers,

Joseph

Hi all,

StationPlaylist 20.05.1 and Windows 10 App Essentials 20.05 are complete and are waiting to be installed on your NVDA installations (they will show up tonight at the earliest). SPL 20.05.1 is a documentation update that corrects a touchscreen command, and Windows 10 App Essentials 20.05 brings improved support for newest Cortana generation 2 release (version 2.2004) along with changes from 20.04.x.

As always, the new add-on releases will be found on community add-ons website, as well as via Add-on Updater.

I was navigating with the letter "b" to get rid of this damn thing.

And you should read the shortcut keys from the website.
There are good things.

Hi,

It is SPL Assistant layer, followed by D (you need to assign a key to invoke SPL Assistant layer, as it is unassigned by default).

Hi:

In the Station Playlist Studio Add-on, how do inquire the total time of a current playlist?  In Cobra, I could look at the second line from the bottom of the screen and find it as a value there.  But, I can’t seem to do anything like that in NVDA.

Thank you.

Re: Torrents in QBitTorrent, or other accessible torrent clients.

I read that QBitorrent is not accessible is that NVDA is having problem in dealing with app build on QT5, like vlc.

Okay. I should be clear, then, that I am referring to Transmission-QT, in which I haven't experienced those issues.

I run transmission-daemon on my linux box, and transmission-remote-gui on windows The.
The torrent list reads with screen review. However, you must single click on a torrent and use the pgdup/up keys to scroll. No arrow support.

There is more accessible clients like bittorrent and utorrent, but they are not safe like qbittorrent. Those clients had some issues like mining, advertisements etc.
