Re: NVDA onefile

NVDA is not suitable for using PyInstaller.
But you can create an nfs archive with a program like winrar or 7zip, and add something that automatically starts NVDA after the archive is extracted. WinRar has such a support.

No, we are using Py2exe to transform NVDA into a binary executable.

I'm not sure what you are asking. The PC cursor is what you use in programs that already have cursors or in lists and other such structures. Are you asking about the virtual PC curssor on web sites? NVDA has what it calls Browse Mode, which is the ssame thing as the virtual PC cursor. Is that what you are asking about?

As well as other relative positions.  A good example of that is what gets labeled as "negative number" which I'd have to presume is a hyphen when placed immediately before a numeric digit.

The first three are period at the end of a sentence, pronounced as dot, exclamation point at end of sentence, pronounced as bang, and question mark at end of sentence, pronounced as question.  (This is, of course, when you're in a reading mode with punctuation symbols enabled.  There's also an in-word single quotation mark, pronounced as tick.

Other than a couple of phrase ending characters, like semicolon and colon, the rest are mostly emoji characters, fractions, and monetary symbols.

I've had an explanation of the levels and preservation in the past (and it was probably on this group, but might have been via private correspondence) but I can't recall exactly how those two attributes work.

I'd imagine there has got to be a language-specific pronunciation table for punctuation, but since I've never used any language but English (and don't intend to experiment at the moment) I can't say for certain.

Huh? No, the period ends a sentence. This has nothing to do with nvda. I'm a bit lost as to your question. What exactly do you need to know? Are you saying that the characters get punctuated with the period? If not, can you please be a bit more clear?

I haven't played with it but it evidently means that if you set a punctuation mark to do something such as be spoken at the end of a sentence, it will be but if the other setting is not to be spoken in general, it won't be elswhere. I may not have phrased exactly what you might set punctuation to do in that dialog since I've harddly played with it but what I said should help you understand how it affects when something will be done.

                Hi Quintin

This is a confused situation.  My original message was based on the incorrect post re the latest NVDA RC.  I followed the link in that post to the “What’s New” details in 2019.2 and read about the OneCore rate boost feature being added, mistakenly thinking I was using 2019.1.  Immediately After seeing other list members messages about the post, I re-sent the message after correcting my mistake but you are responding to my original incorrect post.

The OneCore Rate Boost reference no longer applies but the issue regarding the OneCore voices for Hazel, Susan, David and George all being the same deep male voice remains and I wondered if it was an issue that was known about.

Apologies for the confusion

Chris

Do you mean you're using NVDA 2019.2.1?  We introduced Rate Boost in NVDA 2019.2 for Windows OneCore - it's been in since NVDA 2011.2.

We haven't done anything new with it since 2019.2.

In any case, I'm glad you're appreciating it!

I was a bit puzzled after reading that OneCore voices would have the rate boost feature added in the forthcoming new release of NVDA.  I’m using OneCore with 2019.1 and it already has rate boost.  Whilst checking out the different OneCore voices in the synth ring, I noticed that Mark, and Zira voices seem to work OKK but Hazel, Susan, David and George all had the same deep male voice.  This was the same in the Voice dialog after NVDA+Control+v was pressed.  Is this a known problem?

I'm not sure what you want to do. If you are reading a web page, the same command, end, moves you to the end of the line you are on. NVDA, in browse mode, uses the same navigation commands as JAWS does in the Virtual PC Cursor and they are the same commands used in navigating a document in a word processor.
