Re: accessible uninstaller

One of the reasons why I keep the JAWS screen reader installed on my PC. It is able to read the interface for Revo Uninstaller much better then NVDA.

Re: accessible uninstaller
There's 3 options I've found that work well. Ironically, one of the suggestions came from a certain blind website I'll refuse to name, because it's an illegal operation. But, the links below are all legit sources.
Have fun! I hope others have more suggestions.

Re: A few questions

Hello Quentin, NVDA automatically switches between synthesizers when I have more than one configuration profiles. For example, If I have set One Core as my synthesizer, then NVDA will automatically switch to Espeak when I interact with my Windows and related applications. It goes back to One Core when I’m interacting with NVDA settings itself, reading a document or while browsing the internet. The situation is similar with any synthesizer set as default. And, I can observe this same issue on NVDA 19.2.1 installed on my system and NVDA 20.1 which I sometimes use as a portable version. I reported the issue once on this list and was told by someone that the code for configuration profile is buggy. It would be great if you could help in any way.

Capital Letter Recognition
Marquette, Ed
All: I have searched rather diligently, with no success, for an NVDA function that I saw, a couple of years back, was under development/consideration for either an NVDA feature or an add-on. I do not see it anywhere in the NVDA manual or the tutorial, and I see no add-on with a title or description of this functionality. I hope I’m just inept as a searcher. I’m looking for the ability to recognize capital letters, not just when reading by letter—I know that functionality is present—but rather, the ability to recognize when words are capitalized (or in solid capital letters) when reading by line, by paragraph, or in say-all. Presently, I have to switch to JAWS for this functionality, and it is so absolutely crucial that it must be, at least, under development in some add-on. In fact, this functionality is the only reason I keep JAWS installed. Surely others find the absence of this functionality a serious matter. Perhaps we could pool our resources to pay a clever add-on developer to create it? Thanks!

Windows 10 App Essentials 20.06, last release to support Windows 10 May 2019 Update
#addonrelease
Hi all,
Windows 10 App Essentials 20.06 is now available. In addition to Flake8 related internals work, it brings ability to let NVDA stop announcing UIA notifications from Microsoft Store and other programs if “report notifications” is turned off from NVDA’s object presentation settings. As always, the add-on update is available via community add-ons website and through Add-on Updater.
IMPORTANT: in accordance with support policy for Windows 10 App Essentials add-on (supporting a given Windows 10 feature update for at least a year but not forever), version 20.06 will be the last release to support Windows 10 Version 1903 (May 2019 Update/build 18362). Version 1903 was supported by this add-on since March 2019, and it is time to say goodbye from this add-on. But not all is lost: Version 1909 (November 2019 Update) and upcoming Version 2004 (May 2020 Update) are supported (in a way, due to special nature of November 2019 Update, the add-on will keep supporting May 2019 Update a while longer). Actually, Windows 10 App Essentials supports two future feature updates already (more on that later). Nevertheless, for support policy, the next major version of this add-on (20.07) will require Windows 10 Version 1909 (November 2019 Update/build 18363) or later.
Also, for people using development snapshots: the last development snapshots before the break will be sent this weekend. The next one after that will show up in July. Cheers, Joseph

Hi all,
Object Location Tones 20.06 is now available. This release mostly includes internal changes such as Flake8 and preparing for a day when this add-on gets integrated into NVDA. As always, the new update can be found on community add-ons website and via Add-on Updater. Cheers, Joseph

Not really sure what happened there. I reset a few things and everything is fine now. I just wasn't sure if it was because of an update.

Andre Fisher
Hi.
Remember OneCore and SAPI5 are two different sets of voices (mobile vs. desktop). So they have different sets of voices. As it relates to the Phonetic Punctuation add-on, an ellipses (...) is sent to the synthesizer for processing by default when the symbol levels are set to None and Some (below Most). Go into the Symbol Pronunciation dialog and configure it to never be passed to the synth.

Yes, SIBIAC is the one. Thanks to those of you who chimed in with the name. I haven’t used the plug-in much myself but it’s very popular in the Reaper Without Peepers listserv, A group dedicated to discussion of accessibility for the Reaper digital recording application.

Re: The next evolution of NVDA?
For those who want to know more about SIBIAC, see: https://reaperaccessibility.com/index.php/SIBIAC_add_on_for_NVDA
It is strictly for Reaper and requires a minimum screen resolution of 1920x1080, which would rule it out for me on a laptop. AI is a marvelous thing, and there will definitely be major advances in the coming years. But it will be a very long time before it comes close to what wetware (the human brain) can do. Not to mention that AI, like other humans, will make choices that you, personally, may not prefer,a particularly until it trains itself to you. It's interesting to see what people envision as far as AI. I've been saying for a long time that if we could train a screen reader to consider a web page the way most sighted individuals do when they see them, which means instantly ignoring an awful lot of stuff, it would be so much faster to get to the information that's generally being sought. But even then, what I consider extraneous you may consider essential, or vice versa. But that's not likely to be the case for things like navigation bars and the collections of links that appear at the bottom (and sometimes top) of a very great many web pages. If those get used once every hundred visits to most sites, with the exception of newspapers where their sections are generally presented near the top, that's probably an overestimate. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 Science has become just another voice in the room; it has lost its platform. What problems do you have using configuration profiles? I'm not aware of any big issues with them. I'm not sure about the SAPI 5 vs OneCore voices although I expect some voices might only be available in one or the other perhaps? Regards Quentin.

Re: NVDA is misbehave in text boxes on some websites
Quentin Christensen
Is the focus definitely in the edit box with NVDA in focus mode? I just tried in the current versions of Chrome (Version 81.0.4044.138 (Official Build) (64-bit)) and Firefox (76.0.1 64-bit) on the AudioGames site and it's working for me with NVDA 2020.1. Quentin.
