Have you saved your NVDA configuration? Otherwise it will go back to the previously saved configuration

Every time I recieve what is classed as a Quality Update  under Windows

update log, I lose my chosen nvda voice. How can I stop this happening?

 

I do know how to get the voice back, thanks to Luke Davis, but it's a

rigmorol that I would prefer not to have to do.

Hi Andy,

Do you have MathPlayer installed? NVDA uses MathPlayer to read MathML, and it generally reads chemical equations in an unambiguous understandable form although not necessarily the same way that a chemist might read it out loud. If you have MathPlayer installed, and it is not reading the subscripts, can you send an example of a webpage where it is not being read, and I can take a look.

I'd like to find an answer about if NVDA can be configured to read MathML, WHERE the MathML is being used to represent chemistry. The main issue is that NVDA does not currently seem to read the subscripts in chemical equations.

On that one I have no idea, as I've never had NVDA show/say anything about modifier keys and/or display on startup.   There are, however, checkboxes for Automatically start NVDA when I log in to Windows and Use NVDA on the Windows Login screen in the General tab.

For those with errors - if you restart the computer from the start menu,
does it make a difference? If you don't encounter it after that, it could
be one of those random glitches we sometimes see after updating and before
restarting. If you do keep seeing it, if you could set your log level to
Debug, restart NVDA with add-ons disabled, recreate the issue and send me a
copy of your log, we'll have a look and see what is going on.

i think that's what happened. Zdsr must have installed something.

I was astonished when I saw that, by selecting Seika, my display was recognized immediately, while earlier i had to leav it on Automatic, and then I had the problems I described earlier.


I was forced to use an old pm 40, with half of the cells half dead... Now realing braille feels like Paradise on earth! lol


Unfortunately, all the suff within that screen reader is in Chinese, so I have no idea what can have been installed...


I'll ask around in the forum, and see what I can find out.

again, because the braillle is very good, and it's a pity they can't be
used at their best.

For Seika6 or touchme6 or whatever that finish with 6, yes, we have troubles.
But why NVDA doesn't support anymore the Seika5 display, and we should install the external addon?
If this is a final decision, we should update documentation, because from NVDA 2019.3 the normal situation is that described by Ollie, where you can read 40 characters and then you can't scroll with dedicated keys.

I just copied the add-on folder from the directory and brought it to
my document folder. it is zippe nowd. How can I install it on another
pc?
