Ok now that I found the source where I bought the add on, I looked around on the site but did not see anything for drivers. I can contact them but who knows how long that will take. Vlad, as I do have the Acapela voices installed this certainly
gives me a clue as far as what to look for. If I find that the
Acapela driver is causing this to occur I will certainly write to
them about it. Thanks for the tip as I don't think it would have
occurred to me to disable the addon to see if that addresses the
issue. David Goldfield, Blindness Assistive Technology Specialist JAWS Certified, 2019 WWW.DavidGoldfield.org On 6/28/2020 12:27 PM, Vlad Dragomir

Vlad, you are absolutely right. Once I disabled the Acapela driver and restarted NVDA the exit sounds work. Enabling the driver then stops the sound from being played. It's worth noting that I am running v1.6.2 of the driver and I
believe that there is a 1.6.3 now available from the Acapela Web
site. I will download this and see if they have addressed the
issue. David Goldfield, Blindness Assistive Technology Specialist JAWS Certified, 2019 WWW.DavidGoldfield.org On 6/28/2020 12:29 PM, David Goldfield

Hello,
I used to have this exact problem in conjunction with the Acapela for NVDA add-on. As soon as I uninstalled it, the wave file began to be heard again. I sent this description to the Acapela team, but of course, attentive and caring as they are, I never heard back from them. I hope this may help you at least a little bit.
Best,

It is not the voice that needs to be updated. You need to update the driver for the voices. You should be able to find the updated driver from the code factory website or from where you bought the voices. Greg Wocher

For those of you who already have NVDA’s Acapela voices, if God forbid I were to be in this situation, but it’s always good to know just in case: how would one recover an activation key (out of the 3 given when purchasing), if the computer on which the license is activated, suddenly dies, without loosin the key in the process, thus being unable to deactivate that machine’s key, through NVDA/Acapela voices/License Management? If I let that key go, when I get the computer repaired and returned back to me and upon activating Acapela again on that same machine especially if he computer needs to be reformatted), I’d e using up Activation Key #2; hence having one left for emmergencies! Is there a website I could go to, and manage my activation keys without depending on the machine on which the key is activated, to deactivate it? I wouldn’t want to loos any activations unnecessarily. Thanks for info.

Hi from me,
You say that you happen to face it on Firefox. I face it on Google Chrome. That's to say, when I come upon the like button in the reactions toolbar area while in the browse mode, NVDA automatically switches to the focus mode. And then, when I hit escape as you do, NVDA's focus is thrown somewhere else. To get rid of the inconveniences, I go to the NVDA menu, choose the advanced submenu, and then tab to the automatically set system focus to focusable elements to uncheck it just to stop NVDA's focus skipping of its own accord. When I do that, I can use www.facebook.com much better when I walk through the reactions area and the comments area.
Both Chrome and NVDA are the latest versions (NVDA being the latest stable).

Are you already in forms mode and have you tabbed to where you want to be? If you have first moved there in browse mode, then pressed enter. you may be in the wrong place because the browse mode buffer may not be lining up with the actual page, where you are when you switch to browse mode.

Hi On Windows 10 2004 and NVDA 2020.1, loading a language pack makes the related OneCore voices available. I just had the UK english language pack loaded but wanted the OneCore Mark voice, so I loaded US English language pack and the voice became available to NVDA along with 3 other voices. No registry tweaks necessary.
