Admittedly, this is not a major problem but I've recently noticed that when I press ctrl+Q I no longer hear the wav file that is normally heard when exiting or closing NVDA. The wav file does exist in the same folder as the startup file and when I open the file it does play in my default media player. I thought I remember seeing some recent discussions about this on this list but I could not locate the relevant thread when searching the archives. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a known fix? I did install the 2020.2 beta 2 release but the problem persists.

It is not the voice that needs to be updated. You need to update the driver for the voices. You should be able to find the updated driver from the code factory website or from where you bought the voices.

I used to have this exact problem in conjunction with the Acapela for NVDA add-on. As soon as I uninstalled it, the wave file began to be heard again. I sent this description to the Acapela team, but of course, attentive and caring as they are, I never heard back from them. I hope this may help you at least a little bit.

Vlad, as I do have the Acapela voices installed this certainly gives me a clue as far as what to look for. If I find that the Acapela driver is causing this to occur I will certainly write to them about it. Thanks for the tip as I don't think it would have occurred to me to disable the addon to see if that addresses the issue.

For those of you who already have NVDA’s Acapela voices, if God forbid I were to be in this situation, but it’s always good to know just in case: how would one recover an activation key (out of the 3 given when purchasing), if the computer on which the license is activated, suddenly dies, without loosin the key in the process, thus being unable to deactivate that machine’s key, through NVDA/Acapela voices/License Management? If I let that key go, when I get the computer repaired and returned back to me and upon activating Acapela again on that same machine especially if he computer needs to be reformatted), I’d e using up Activation Key #2; hence having one left for emmergencies! Is there a website I could go to, and manage my activation keys without depending on the machine on which the key is activated, to deactivate it? I wouldn’t want to loos any activations unnecessarily. Thanks for info.

You might stop the entire problem by turning automatic switching tbetween browse mode and focus mode off.  Just one more example of too much automation and why it is better to switch between these states manually.

Also, I've seen the comment on some lists that Internet Explorer works

better with the Face Book site.  I don't know if that’s all the varieties of

the site but it may solve your problem.  While I generally recommend not to

use IE11, in this case, it may be the thing to do.

i know that nvda since its version 2017.3,
has support for mobile one core voice.
how can someone activate these voices?
using sapi5 is very easy with nvda, and it does not require registry.
but i remember somewhere i read about one core voices to be activated
by changing registry.
the instruction was extremely difficult and professional that i could
not understand!
is this true for one core voices in newer versions of windows ten?
