Hi,

Don't worry about object and screen review modes for now because it isn't related to this issue (for those wondering: review modes are reset when NVDA restarts, so this has nothing to do with this issue). Cheers, Joseph

Out of curiosity do you have your computer connected to a tv via a hdmi cable? or is it computer to monitor or a lap top. I have a pc connected to a tv via hdmi from the pc and it done weird stuff like you said. It would do some thing weird like that and might only say the first letter not the word on the pc some stuff it would speak correctly and others not. I think for it to work correctly I have to update the drivers for the hdmi audio or what ever it is called. It seemed laggy to at present I have not updated it so do not know if it would fix it. But I went back and done it from the speaker out on the pc to speakers and it worked properly. I thought it might of been a sound driver problem which I think it was wither either the tv causing it which I would most probably have to update on the pc. if it is not connected to a tv like I mentioned then you could cross this one off 2. gene nz

I have no reason why no speech occurs at that one specific time. Using read current line should easily solve the problem and the command takes almost no time to execute. It may be possible to find the reason by examining the log but there are some problems that are so minor and so easily worked around that they aren't worth solving, though you may, if you wish to, pursue it, of course. One that his speakers are plugged into the right whole and turned on. On the computer the sound is not muted. Press the windows key + letter R to bring up the run dialogue then type in sndvol then press the enter key. The next screen that comes up will have the master volume make sure it is right up so you can hear it and not down on zero. There is a box under it if checked it will mute the sound so make sure it is un checked. If you can see nvda is running but not talking under that section I think there is a slider to make it louder there. Also check when nvda is running that under the synth settings in nvda you press the nvda key + ctrl key + the letter S to bring it up. Make sure under the synth section that it has a synth there and not set to no speech if it is set to that change it to e speak or another synth package. I know this by arrowing up and then down. I tried maximizing but didn't cause any change in behavior. Any ideas to resolve the problem? Thanks in advance. Hey Sarah.
This IBM TTS is a paid synth, yes? Somewhere I can actually hear a sample of its babble?

Also google the IBM voice for NvDA. You need to find the DLL yourself , but there is an add on that ships with that. Hello. An option is IBM TTS. Is an addon legal. Only the addon is a driver sinteciser for Eloquence. The files necessary for Eloquence are available, but the addon no include these files because... Well, a complex situation with Eloquence. You can write a private message and I can send a link with IBMTTS with the necessary files ready. Regards. Carlos Esteban Martínez Macías. Hi
There are 2 packages in this zip file.
one is the speech platform synth and voices there are quite a few languages there.
You need to install the run time file first then the synths.
the other one is RH voices and synths .
I will leave it in the drop box for 24 hours or so and you can download it from https://www.dropbox.com/s/9kh3aip9atldlho/synth%20packages.zip?dl=1
The speech hub package page can be found at http://www.speakon.org.uk/SpeechHub/public/docs/NVDAClient/index.html
there you can find out more info about it and its synths/voices.
you will need also to download the latest add on for 2020.1 or it might be the version before.
The synth package will need to be installed first then you must install the add on for nvda to see those synths/voices.
the link to the page where you can read more about it can be found at http://www.speakon.org.uk/SpeechHub/public/docs/NVDAClient/index.html
The other one I just copied off my how to add additional components page but the voices are at the bottom of this page can be found at http://www.cross-plus-a.com/balabolka.htm
This was the page it came off which points to other free and paid synth/voice packages at http://www.accessibilitycentral.net/how%20to%20install%20additional%20nvda%20components.html
hope it helps.

Re: Automatic Column and Row Header Reading
Cearbhall O'Meadhra
Sam,
Have you any blank columns separating blocks of columns. If so, you would need to set the column headings on the first cell in the heading row of each block to make NVDA call out the column headings for that block.
All the best,

Yep, I did that also, but still nothing appears to change. I followed the example in the Excel with NVDA study material.
