Re: caret browsing question?
Gene
Those who use Windows 10 Narrator may be able to discuss the question more. But for one thing, we don't even know if any screen-reader is aware of the virtual cursor used in caret browsing. Just because a virtual cursor is present doesn't mean a screen-reader is aware of it and I doubt it is. Just because a real cursor is present, doesn't mean a screen-reader is necessarily aware of it.

I just tried an experiment. I turned off browse mode in NVDA. I then turned on the virtual cursor in Firefox. NVDA didn't respond in any way when I moved the arrow keys. Gene

i was curious about caret browsing too. i enabled caret browsing and it did not work for me at all! i even could not navigate web pages with arrow keys!

Its for sighted people and does nothing regarding the Virtual PC Cursor or Browse mode, two names for the same thing. We already have a virtual cursor.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
the explanation I've seen is that carret browsing is for helping sighted people select text with the keyboard. We can already do that. Gene

my github issue solved
Hi.
Ok, I can get access to github. Interestingly, I can only do this on google chrome or edge chromium. Oh and I need to be logged in to clone. Anyway after I find a menu called add file I can then click the code button and get access to things for a zip. If I put .git at the end of a project I can clone in github easily enough. I just wish there was a way to have a classic github mode though, while I often don't need a perminant project sometimes I want to get a look see for the hell of it and don't want to keep it. It can be done, oh well there is microsoft influancing github. On the up side, in some services, microsoft allows github logins and accounts. However I can't find the signin link to github unless I directly go to github/login but then neither can I download skype without going to skype.com/download so whatever.

Well if you guys can leave this issue open till tuesday I may have access to a laptop with the formentioned issue on.

I may get access earlier but for now thats the best I can do. I technically had access to something yesterday but I was so screwed up with a cold I didn't have the energy to get out of bed.

I was not able to replicate that portion of the scenario. Please consider either posting one on the github issue, or sending one privately. Luke

Re: Control Alt N Not Working to Open NVDA
I actually don't bother with this at least with nvda. I do a windows key and r for run and type nvda. Make sure the shortcut is there and just run it. If the properties are not conflicting with something else well. I have seen strangeness with keyboards doing weird things, if its wireless it could be battery related. The ms boards don't seem to tell status, the logitech stuff seems to though.

Re: office 2019 word and nvda
Also for those having issues on the other list, with office, its a known bug, try running any office program, ie word and updating again. There aparently is a way to get round that. The user with the screwed up install probably has to reinstall his computer completely though. There are 2 bugs according to winaero, and I forget their status.
