Hi Gene,

thank for your reply.

I'm not sure what you want to do.  Do you use read to end when reading mail or just down arrow through the entire message?  You can use the read to end command to both stop unwanted repetition and begin reading the message body.

Hi Gene and other.

Thank you for the answer.

So I use down arrow for stopping the multiple reading of subjects.

Hello all,

I have a long time a problem with Nvda.

It several times reads subjects in Emails.

Is possible to set Nvda, for reading of a subject once only?

Press alt p for properties.
Control tab till you hear "spatial sound" announced.
At this point you should be in a dropdown list which you can use your

Arrow to 'off', then tab to ok & activate. Press ok as many times as

I'm using ESpeak NG, and the latest NVDA. I'm on Windows 10.

My issue is that occasionally, most often at the ends of sentences
and on the word image in the context of that being an object, the
speech will break up slightly, for a brief but noticeable fraction
of a second. It happens irregularly, and I don't know what to do to
fix it. I asked on a Discord server I'm a member of, and someone
there told me to switch audio output from Microsoft Sound Mapper to
my speakers/headphones. I did this, but it hasn't helped.

I've also noticed a slight but noticeable lag when deleting
characters, and in single-letter navigation. In the latter, It takes
most of a second before NVDA announces the item the cursor has moved
to after the letter was pressed.

Any help regarding these issues would be sincerely appreciated.

Re: Speech crackling/breaking up in latest NVDA

Tyler Spivey

This is a known problem in my circle across synths.
I suspect this is due to speech refactor. Regardless, it would be
helpful if you could get a sentence or something where this occurs,
then report an issue if you can get it to happen reliably. This is the
hard part.
eSpeak is one of the core drivers, so NV Access might consider the issue
as worth looking into if reported against that.

Idea for an Addon

Vaibhav Bhandari

Hi all,
So recently I was thinking like many people out their, whenever they
read some book/novel/any other thing, they tend to mark something
which they feel is important. Now I was wondering if such an addon for
NVDA could be developed through which it would jump from the first
bold text to the next. Is their already such an addon or can it be
developed?

Sorry, upgrading only my system to the newest Windows version will not work due to security policies, software distribution processes and so on. Also bringing my own device with a self installed environment will be not allowed.

Everything that has no official process or is not officialy allowed by the IT security department is not possible novadays, at least not in companies who think that they had to work and function in ITIL or similar process models. No chance to get out of such process models, at least it is very difficult.

On both systems the current stable version of NVDA is installed, NVDA 2020.2.

Is it possible to improve the support of windows text console on my old system on my working laptop somehow? I don't know when a newer version of Windows 10 will be rolled out, so a workaround for Windows 1809 would be great.

As others have said, Grammarly is inaccessible with the keyboard and with screenreaders.  For a sighted mouse user, it works great, it highlights grammatical errors in many places, including forms you are filling in on the web.  A similar service, ProWritingAid, has a screen reader accessible interface.  It's not free, but worth considering if you're after a full featured grammar checker: https://prowritingaid.com/en/Analysis/Editor?screenReaderFriendly=true
