I really hate unnecessary verbiage that wastes my time and tells me nothing of any value.
I've recently been using the beta version of NVDA. I havedn't gotten the production version since I've been using it so little. But one thing that caught my attention is the announcement of figure and out of figure on web pages. What possible value is there to this? I don't care if something is a figure in structure, whatever that is, evidently some sort of visual formatting. Every time I hear these words, it wastes a little bit of time and distractingly clutters the text. and I see no way to turhn this off in the document formatting options. I turn off the other nonsense such as bloc quote announcement. I turn off almost everything. If new formatting information is added, there should be a way to turn it off. And why are some of these announcements on by default? People would never put up with a human reader announcing all this clutter. How many users of NVDA ever learn enough to know that they can turn all these announcements off? Gene

I am not a developer. Actually, I am a basic user, so that I can't tell you whether it is possible. What I can recommend you to do is to use one of the mentioned softwares. Bookworm is super light, accessible and free. You can download it from here: All the best! Em qui., 6 de ago. de 2020 às 07:37, Vaibhav Bhandari <vaibhavbhandari2017@...> escreveu:

Try using object navigation. I don't know how familiar you are with it. I can give you a quick description if you wish.

Now when I try this during a scan, all NVDA says is 'blandk.' Now if I use the read dialogue keystroke insert + B, after reading through a bunch of superfluous items such as the tool bars and system items, I do get the scan progress information read correctly. This means that it must be recognizable by NVDA at some level. Has anyone else seen this issue? If so, is there some way of rectifying the situation? If NVDA sees it in the read dialogue context, shouldn't it be available in some form so that it can be read more easily? Thanks for any help. -- They Ask Me If I'm Happy; I say Yes. All correct Jacob! NVDA+3 to toggle speak typed words directly. Otherwise NVDA+control+k to open NVDA's keyboard settings and toggle it from in there. Quentin.

Re: Speech crackling/breaking up in latest NVDA
Gene
Silenzio doesn't silence speech. It solves a problem where the sound card times out after it isn't doing anything for a short time. When you do something that causes speech to occur again, there is a pause before it starts because the sound card has stopped working. Silenzio sends inaudible audio signals to the sound card to stop it from timing out. That doesn't sound like your problem because, according to your description, your problem occurs while speech is occuring.

Hi
Apologies if this seems simple, but I am sure that nvda used to speak each word as it was typed. For some reason my system has stopped doing this and I cannot find the setting to re-instate the feature. I am using nvda version 2020.1 and the latest Windows 10. Advice welcome. best regards Gerry

Re: NVDA 2020.2 and Word Track Changes: finding the issue in Github
Quentin Christensen
Hi Sylvie, Good question - and one to which there is no easy answer. Probably the best I can think of is what are the most common words someone might use in describing the problem. So for this one, shift+a is good as that is the exact keystroke which is misbehaving. Annotation could also work since that's NVDA's name for the command. If you're unsure, feel free to post here as that way you can also find out if anyone else is experiencing it, and if THEY have already reported it, or perhaps find an answer. At worst, if you post an issue and it already exists, someone will see it, realise it's a duplicate, and close it as such, pointing you to the open issue. Kind regards Quentin.

Re: NVDA 2020.2 and Word Track Changes: finding the issue in Github
Sylvie Duchateau
Hello Quentin, Sandra and all, Thank your Quentin for noting that the issue already exists. As already noted to Sandra, I had tested on NVDA 2019.2 and 2019.3 and shift+A worked. But as you noted in the issue on Github it does not work with NVDA 2020.2. So my question: in order to avoid duplicated issue what is the best way to find if an issue has already been posted on that subject or not? You will answer, searching in the Github issues, but you have to type the words that were used for the issue. For example, if I look for shift+A does not work, I am not sure that I would find the issue it is related to. Any hints on writing issues and not duplicating? Best Sylvie De : nvda@nvda.groups.io <nvda@nvda.groups.io> De la part de Quentin Christensen via groups.io
Hi Sandra,
GitHub is not difficult to use. You do need to create an account, but that simply requires and email address and password, as most sites do these days.
As it happens though, this isn't actually a new bug, and there is an issue for it: https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues/7342
Kind regards
Quentin.

I'm not sure what you want to do. Do you use read to end when reading mail or just down arrow through the entire message? You can use the read to end command to both stop unwanted repetition and begin reading the message body.
