Trouble reading messages with HTML embedded tables in Outlook 365
Jessie Mabry
Good morning, everyone,
I'm hoping that there's a simple fix for this and I'm just missing something. I use Outlook 365 as my mail client and sometimes find myself switching screen readers just to read my mail. This is because NVDA detects tables in the vast majority of my HTML messages to the point where the verbosity makes them difficult to read. The tables often seem nested or non-uniform, too, which increases the verbiage more. I have NVDA set to ignore layout tables in HTML documents, but I have all the table detection features in the Document Formatting dialogue enabled because I like to hear about useful tables in other contexts. I'm using NVDA 2020.2. Other screen readers I use strip out any unnecessary tables and read content as text. Is there any way to make NVDA do the same? It's a much more fluid experience. Thanks for your help, Jessie

I always click the original link every time, unless I'm reading a
kill-the-newsletter.com feed. then i use the Miniflux overlay. Unfortunately most modern RSS readers also forsake headings, in fact, pretty much all of them do in list/compact view. We'll never have Google reader back again, and that's final.

Hi, that would be epic, but I have a whole heck of a lot of
feeds!! Like over 500, not sure if your server could handle that
many.

Determining what settings in group policy are causing NVDA to not pick up data from controols
Hi all,
I was trying to install mysql and found the installer to be inaccessible. This was on my work laptop. I tried the installation on my home machine and had no problems. The work machine has all kinds of security policies applied. It runs Windows 10 version 1809. Many screens in the installer were being reported as "unknown" by NVDA. Are there settings in windows group policy which would cause NVDA not to see controls correctly? Pranav

The groups.io interface doesn't expose e-mail addresses of senders. To reply to the sender, do the following:
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
Follow the reply link when you are in the message. From the top of the page, use your screen-reader's find feature to look for the word private. It’s a button. Activate it with the space bar and the message will go to the sender and not to the group. Gene

Re: Helping to make an Edge/Chrome RSS reader accessible

I've been using Miniflux Trial over the past few hours. While I appreciate its simplicity and accessibility, so far my major gripes with it are:
1. Navigating among articles is very difficult. Since Miniflux doesn't use headings or regions to display each article link or separate them from adjacent article links, one has to use the Up/Down arrows to reach each article link on the feed page and move past extra links or buttons. For instance, navigation around the links/articles for the following feed is quite cumbersome: http://feeds.feedburner.com/AndroidPolice 2. It doesn't display article summaries on the feed page. So one should select each article link to move to a new page in order to see the short summary. And opening the full article requires yet another link selection. Maybe worse, Miniflux doesn't display article summaries for some feeds at all -- check this one, for instance: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/index.rss 3. Wish Miniflux had a "Refresh all feed" option. Refreshing each feed manually takes a lot of time, and the "Refresh feeds in the background" link apparently doesn't refresh them at the moment of selecting it. The annual $15 fee sounds awesome if these issues are sorted out. Best, Amir

no, my feed are send with title and source. e.g., my email subject will be like this IOS 14 public beta is now released from Techradar technology news Amir 於 29/8/2020 19:04 寫道:
That's true -- they can be filtered to appear in a new mail folder. But that doesn't take care of the second problem: they are delivered together despite having being marked with feed title and feed source.

Yes, I have set the refresh frequency to my server hosted
miniflux to 5 minutes. If you want, then I can create an account
for you.

Well, don't know about the server side, but the website refreshes RSS feeds every hour, according to their FAQ, and one can't decrease this period. Sadly it's too much for my work as I need 10 to 15-minute refreshes or even 5-minute ones for some feeds.

Zoom Enhancements Addon for NVDA
David Goldfield
I was browsing Facebook and saw an announcement about a new addon for the NVDA screen reader which promises some additional functionality when using Zoom. I offer the following caveats.
1. I don't know if this particular addon has been vetted by the NVDA community. This doesn't in any way mean that the addon is harmful. 2. While I do use the NVDA screen reader I have not yet tested this addon and so I cannot offer any support or feedback as to its usefulness. 3. Because of this I am not endorsing this addon and so I am not responsible if it does have any negative side effects on your machine or when using Zoom. Here is an extract from the Github page where this addon is located, along with a URL to obtain it. Zoom Accessibility enhancements add-on for NVDA By: Mohamad Suliman and Eilana Benish This add-on will improve the experience of using Zoom for NVDA users by providing keyboard shortcuts to Handle alerts for Different events While In a meeting, make the process of remote control much more accessible and smoother, and more... keyboard shortcuts for controlling alerts In meetings NVDA + Shift + A: cycles between different modes of reporting alerts. This can be done using the settings dialog of the add-on, or by using the dedicated keyboard shortcuts for that The following shortcuts can be used to toggle on / off the announcements of each type of alert (note that this will be effective when custom mode is selected): NVDA + Ctrl + 1: Participant Has Joined/Left Meeting (Host Only) NVDA + Ctrl + 2: Participant Has Joined/Left Waiting Room (Host Only) NVDA + Ctrl + 3: Audio Muted by Host NVDA + Ctrl + 4: Video Stopped by Host NVDA + Ctrl + 5: Screen Sharing Started/Stopped by a Participant NVDA + Ctrl + 6: Recording Permission Granted/Revoked NVDA + Ctrl + 7: Public In-meeting Chat Received NVDA + Ctrl + 8: Private In-meeting Chat Received NVDA + Ctrl + 9: In-meeting File Upload Completed NVDA + Ctrl + 0: Host Privilege Granted/Revoked NVDA + Shift + Ctrl + 1: Participant Has Raised/Lowered Hand (Host Only) NVDA + Shift + Ctrl + 2: Remote Control Permission Granted/Revoked NVDA + Shift + Ctrl + 3: IM chat message received Note that you need to leave reporting all alert types selected (in Zoom accessibility settings) to have the add-on function as expected. I'm not sure about other VPNS you've mentioned, but the one I'm using right now is a VPN based New York, called VPN unlimited. Their app is usable, if you downloaded it from the Microsoft's store. Hope that helps.

You don't have to use the expressVPN control panel, you can actually use open VPN. There are some instructions on how to do this on the express VPN website after you log in.
