Re: having trouble signing into my gmail account

Hi, are you on your home computer? Or are you on a friends computer? Google is getting strange. It happened to me. I tried to put the I pad I share with my friend when I was on vacation. It would not let me. I had an old recovery email address that no longer exists. So I had to delete it and add the email address that we share on the iphone. Google acted like someone was trying to get into my account. So I had to have my room mate go on IE or whatever apple uses as a web browser. She had to allow access to it then it said that my gmail is less secure witch is not true. That is bizarre where you try to sign in and it wants you to create an account when you already have one. Did you write the google team about this problem?

Hi, everyone,

I want to make another lavbel for an email list I joined recently but I can't find the place for signing in to my gmail account. I know my email address and password but when I try to sign in, I'm taken to "create an account" instead of the edit box where I'd type in my password. Please help in this matter.

Thanks in advance.

Word 2016

kelby carlson

All,

I just received a new laptop with MS Office 2016. I am able to create
and save new Word documents effectively. However when I open Word
documents transferred over from my old PC, NVDA seems not to read
them. The documents open, but NVDA will not read anything within the
document. Using the navigation keys does nothing; neither does
pressing the alt key to open the ribbons.

I do not know if this is an MS Word problem or an NVDA problem. Has
anyone else experienced this? Are their solutions?

Hi James

On which operating system is this on? and which way are you trying to do it. Is it just a normal install of NVDA?

You might be getting the UAC screen coming up if it is in windows 10 anniversary version. If this is the case usually the ALT key and the letter Y will do the trick. the UAC screen to be read out needs the NVDA 2016.3 RC version which can be found at http://www.nvaccess.org/files/nvda/snapshots/
Do not go the next or master snapshot the RC version is the one you want..

Is it your own machine or is it one that is lent out as they might of setup a profile for you can can only be changed by the admin.

Yes seen this and also on Libra Office as well. I think its some kind of timing thing as not always does it happen on all machines. I found that by changing the speed slow down in idle of the processor its a lot better. I now also get a similar issue at times in firefox where I have to hit alt and escape to get the page to read.

Its not just confined to nvda either, dolphin screenreaders do a similar thing.

If anyone has a cast iron fix for these missing events or slow catching up then feel free to say them. My newest machine with 8 gigs of memory seems to be imune to it.

The observation I'd like to ask about occurs on my desktop PC running
Windows 10 Anniversary Edition but I also notice similar behavior on a
Windows 7 laptop. The desktop has Office 2016 installed and the laptop
has Office 2013.

When I first open Word NVDA is often silent, rather than speaking the
title of the program which has gained focus. In other words, the
expected behavior is that, once Word opens and gains focus, NVDA would
verify this by speaking the title of the window, such as "document 1,
Microsoft Word." However, when opening Word after the system has booted
this does not happen. NVDA is silent and pressing insert+T just reads
"winword." At this point, if I move focus away from and then back to the
document window NVDA reads the title as expected. As an example, if I
press the alt key once to move to the ribbon and then a second time to
return to the document I will hear "Document 1, Microsoft Word."
Subsequent attempts to open Word usually cause NVDA to behave as
expected and the title of the document window is automatically spoken.

Along the same lines, I see similar behavior when attempting to save a
document by pressing ctrl+S. When I press this key, the "save" dialog
loads but NVDA is totally silent. If I press the alt key twice, NVDA
then confirms that I am in the dialog. Another NVDA user brought this up
during a recent computer users' group that I moderate and so I decided
to post these experiences to this group to see if others have observed
similar behavior. I'm wondering if an open ticket exists for this bug on
Github.

Re: NVDA Stopped Speaking

Brian's Mail list account BY <bglists@...>

Its awfully easy on some laptops to mute sound. What you need to find out is if the system sound still works or not, if not then somebody needs to find the key combination to unmute it and this very much depends on the model.
If its nvda itself, then yes, you could try what the previous person said, and it should come back. What I tend to do these days on new machines is set up aportable copy in another folder and make a shortcut to the nvda.exe file in that folder. Place this on the desktop and add a key sequence such as right alt/x or something so when or if you screw up your installed copy you can just do the right alt and x and at least get the alternate copy running.

If I understood good, you've installed NVDA but the voice is silent. I think
you could try with NVDA+S but is not so probably it would Works good.
Probably the computer volumen could be silent. If you can, aks people who
can look in your screen or use an external soundcard and put up the volumen
and put off the sound.

Hi Bob

At what time did NVDA stop talking? Was it after it was installed and
you were using it for a while? or was it in the installing of it?

I am wondering if you put NVDA to sleep: If this is the case on my
desktop, it might be the same for a laptop is use the NVDA key + shift
key + the letter S.

If sleep mode is on you will not hear NVDA say anything until it is
woken up. Use the same shortcut to wake him up. You will hear sleep
mode on or sleep mode off.

It is simple to get it mixed up with the one for synth settings which is
the NVDA key + the CTRL key + the letter S except the synth settins part
will come up and tell you which synth package you have.

Actually it cold of been set to No synth maybe if this the the case use
the letter E to get you up to the E speak synth so he starts speaking again?

Maybe if you tried a demo of a synth package it has expired and will
need to be changed to one that speaks like e speak..

.

You might of put NVDA to no speech if this is the case use the NVDA key
+ the letter S to toggle

him from off to talk.

There is only one version.  The talking installer is evidently still running.  You should be able to close it in the task manager.  There should be no reason to reboot.
