NVDA and track changes in Microsoft word
Mary Otten
I am sending this on behalf of a friend, who is considering getting a Windows machine, but really wants to know how well he can do track changes with NVDA. He used to have a Windows machine along time ago, and window eyesworked really well with Microsoft Word and track changes. I assume that he would have to use the latest version of office 365 these days. So if track changes does not work really well, then this would be a major consideration for him. Any comments?

I have many a story where I can trigger my boyfriends assistant when I'm on the phone. He has also triggered mine. We also played with someone's ALady over twitch this way. There was a podcast and commercial where everyone's assistances were being triggered when someone said the magic phrase. My siri was triggered by my student over skype once, and my boyfriend triggered my pixel, siri, bixby, and mini, all while over the phone. I think his screen reader triggered google and bixby once, I think I was on the phone for that one. -- Sarah Alawami, owner of TFFP. . For more info go to our website. Re: Update on previously mentioned issue with single-letternavigation
Gene
I read the message again and I see it discusses the desktop and not quick navigation commands in browse mode. I also checked and I see that when moving by letter on the desktop, letters are announced. So, somehow, that may be related to the problem.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
I think of single letter navigation as what is used as quick navigation commands on web pages and I didn't realize the message was talking about the desktop. When navigating on the desktop or other lists, the term usually used is first letter navigation, and not seeing it and seeing the other caused me to misread the message. Gene

I would think they should both be separately controled as to whether they speak. Or perhaps in the case of track announcement, perhaps I should say, whether it is on or off since I don't know which is a better way to control the behavior or if it matters.

I just checked this. NVDA is set not to announce quick navigation keys when in browse mode. I tried many, h for move by heading, b for button, x for check box and r for radio button. None were spoken.

However, in the case of the person with the problem, since turning off speak typed carachters stopped the lag, it raises the question as to whether in her case, something is being generated that shouldn't be. I would think a log would be important. Gene

Re: Entering time values on youtube website

But mentioned under what conditions? By a screen-reader? By a news broadcast, by something else? I heard about an advertising campaign where a commercial had a word that would cause a certain digital assistance to do something, but I don't recall what now. But I'm asking about screen-reader speech specifically. It may not be necessary to worry about that as a trigger. The speech may be different enough from human speech that assistants don't recognize it.
