Re: SPL add on version?

Hello Roger:

I do not understand your posting. What is an SPL addon? Is it for JAWS, NVDA, or Office? Also, what is the LTS version? Using Three Letter Acronyms (TLAs) without expansion is difficult for those who are not cognizant of their meaning. Also, it helps readers if you specify what program an add on pertains to. Regards, rick

Reducing the Announcement of Notifications in Thunderbird
Hans
Hi,
I have a question about Thunderbird and how NVDA will read every notification, such as downloading 1 of 1 in Inbox, or Deleted 1 of 3 in Important or what's going on with messages going into folders, right while I'm trying to listen to a message. How do I control what is said as far as notifications go in Thunderbird, so I'm not interrupted while trying to listen to a message. I don't want to turn off notifications in the settings preferences, where you go into Object presentation options. There I see a check box to turn notifications on or off. I don't want to turn notifications off, just cut down on what in hear in Thunderbird. Thanks for any assistance in this. Hans

Hi,

It was intentional - I did it that way so those using Studio 5.20 can switch to LTS channel. That's why I specifically asked stable version users using Studio 5.30 and later to skip 20.09.1-LTS. Cheers, Joseph

Thank you for the information. I will try that out.

Hi Samuel,
There are two companies who sell Vocalizer:
Tiflotecnia sell Vocalizer which you can download from: https://vocalizer-nvda.com/downloads (I'm pretty sure you can just install that, and if you don't have a license, it goes into trial mode). You might need to check with them if that is the latest version, or the earlier one which only works up to NVDA 2019.2.1 (I've CC'd Rui Fontes at Tiflotecnia who can help here also).
Code Factory also sell a bundle which includes both Vocalizer and Eloquence: https://codefactoryglobal.com/app-store/voices-for-nvda/ I believe their download works in much the same way (it goes into demo mode if you don't have a license code).
Kind regards
Quentin.

Quentin Christensen
Beta1 of NVDA 2020.3 is now available for download and testing. For anyone who is interested in trying out what the next version of NVDA has to offer before it is officially released, we welcome you to download the beta and provide feedback. NVDA 2020.3 includes several large improvements to stability and performance, particularly in Microsoft Office applications. There are new settings to toggle touchscreen support and graphics reporting. The existence of marked (highlighted) content can be reported in browsers, and there are new German braille tables. This beta will prompt to update to future 2020.3 betas, release candidates and the final 2020.3 once it is released. Visit https://www.nvaccess.org/post/nvda-2020-3beta1/ for more information and to download the new beta.

Re: NVDA support in DOS emulators like DosBox?
Well luke, the issue with a vm, especially a dos one is more physical than not.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
1. yes you can. You would get as much responce out of dos as you would a basic linux terminal. But here is the thing. You don't have a physical serial port or a synth. Assuming you had both of those, yes you could. However unless you had something like a soundblaster card or something and its drivers you couldn't really handle sound. Lets face it, modern pc speakers are utter crap. There is no need for a pc speaker if everything is via sound. Sound cards may have speakers. I know on some systems they only have emulated pc speakers within the sound chip. There are systems I have used that don't have a pc speaker at all. Most if not all systems may have one but you will never hear it unless its got an issue. But in theory and if you had the right equipment you could. But most don't have serial synths or the ports to run them so it won't work. The closest would be some sort of os like linux that handled all this stuff.

And much like any issue tracking system, the more separate people that "pile on" to an existing open issue to note that they have it, too, and would like to see a solution, the more likely it is to get bumped up in the priority list. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 2004, Build 19041 A gentleman is one who never hurts anyone's feelings unintentionally. ~ Oscar Wilde

I'm looking for programs for virtual audio cable and microphone boosting
Hello all, I'm looking for two somewhat related to each other programs for Windows 10. One of them is a virtual audio cable program. I want to be able to record sound from specific programs only a game, a virtual machine in VMWare Player, etc., and not from the whole system as happens if I record via "Stereo Mix". The other one is a program that will let me modify my
microphone's volume level and audio quality. My headset's
microphone has a good noise cancellation function, but its volume
level is lower than I would like it to be (and in its properties
in Windows there is no "Boost" setting to increase its volume
level in decibels. Both programs should be accessible to use with NVDA and preferably free as well. Can someone recommend me such programs? Thanks in advance!______
