Re: Nvda And SPL!
Hi, With Studio window focused, open input gestures dialog (NVDA menu/Preferences/Input gestures), scroll to StationPlaylist category, expand it and look for SPL Assistant, then add a memorable gesture that does not conflict with other NVDA commands. Cheers, Joseph

Hi, Yes, it is like starting from scratch with JAWS. There is a way to “label” encoders using NVDA through an add-on for StationPlaylist (expect a release announcement next week). Cheers, Joseph

Hello, I am wanting to use nvda with station playlist 5.40. Will this be like starting over again in turns of the key strokes from Jaws? For example, when I open studio, my encoders do not display the names of the radio stations that I previously named. or is there a tutorial that can assist in this matter? Hope this make since. Thanks for your help in advance! Regards, Thomas.

Re: Change Ringing: Practice and Theory
Damien,
I can't help you out specifically, but I wanted to note that I've updated the topic to be fully descriptive, as Change Ringing is definitely "a thing of its own" and those who are into it will recognize it better. Since you're asking about what software related to change ringing is accessible with NVDA, that's entirely on-topic for the main group. If the time comes where something is recommended and you want to discuss how to use that software, that topic should be started on the Chat Subgroup. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 2004, Build 19041 It’s hard waking up and realizing it’s not always black and white.

Change Ringing: Practice and Theory
Damien Garwood <damien@...>
Hi all,
I know this is a rather specialised topic, but I'll ask anyway on the off chance. 1. Are there any change-ringers here who could advise me of the best ringing software that works with NVDA? I'm looking for something that will enable me to learn new methods, so it can be either: A. An app that plays a method, or prints the numbers out in CSV form B. An app that requires you to ring a method, or follow calls, perhaps simulating a band and a conductor, and scores you on it. 2. I'm very interested into how change ringing compositions are made (being a musical composer myself). Apparently computers can generate them now, because it's very mathematical. I'd like to learn more about this, but whatever math (or maths, if you prefer) based articles I try and read, they're either covered with graphics, or a mysterious area of three or more spaces that mean absolutely nothing. Someone suggested that Mathplayer was the way forward, but while that does interact with some of these areas, it didn't work with all of them, and the number of problems I had both understanding how to make sense of the information it provided when it did work, and then eventually uninstalling it, I'm a little cautious to start using it again. Cheers. Damien.

I can envision some allowing it to "land in both" with the dedicated folder being their personal archive, but you still then have the issue of if you delete something from the inbox it's gone from all other labels it gets assigned. The only way to nuke from the inbox and keep elsewhere is to delete the inbox label itself, leaving all others intact. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 2004, Build 19041 It’s hard waking up and realizing it’s not always black and white.

When I create a filter, I check the skip the inbox option so that the messages are sent directly to that folder/label. All my mailing list emails are sent to a mailing list folder for example.

Re: NVDA Speech delay after Computer is Idle
Chris
Sounds like a power management issue Possibly because your hard drive is going to sleep, the delay may well be because you are using a mechanical HDD drive ,
Rather than a solid state SSD drive
You can prevent your hard drive going to sleep through your advanced power plan settings

If it is the computer going to sleep how do you wake it up? Is there a setting that may have gotten changed with the latest Windows update. I did not have this problem until then.

NV-music-viewer addon
Josh Kennedy <joshknnd1982@...>
Also I forgot to mention if such an addon is created, let us have a toggle option so as you navigate through the music-xml file you can turn midi music on or off to hear it as you navigate through the music-xml with arrow keys using midi playback.

NV-music-viewer addon
Josh Kennedy <joshknnd1982@...>
Hi,
Since NVMath viewer exists, could someone please make an NVDA addon that will let you open a music-XML file and show it as printed music in the browse mode buffer? Therefore a sighted person could see it, you could navigate through it with conventional arrow and navigation keys and NVDA would read you the notes, measures, chords, and other musical characteristics, and if a braille display is connected, you would see braille music notation on your braille display.
Thanks,
Josh

NVMathViewer addon question

Hi, When I use the nvMathViewer addon, could a sighted person see what is in the math viewer browse mode as printed math? Or is this only visible to the screen reader and braille display if one is connected?

I use image for windows and it is completely accessible. I use it with jaws but nvda should work as well. It is very inexpensive and has a thirty day trial. I have successfully backed up my pc for about four years now and even used it to backup and restore to a new hard drive with no trouble. Hope this helps, Rich
