No it doesn't, not at all.
My technique was all keyboard related.

Try it.

Hi,

I think you can have multiple profiles for a particular program but you will have to activate them manually. Profiles are restricted to the program for which they have been created. They are not system wide.

Hi,
is it possible to run two different instances for the same program with different profiles?
From what I've gathered so far, if you activate a profile manually it's used for the whole pc. Or am I  wrong?

Re: NVDA 2020.3 Beta 4 now available

Louise Pfau

Hi.  I've installed the beta.  I inadvertently overwrote my existing copy.  I have a few questions, and have come across a few minor problems.  I've placed them below my name.

Thanks,

Louise
1.  I noticed that focus mode is not exited when ESCAPE is pressed.  The most recent example of this is the edit fields in the groups.io web interface.

2.  NVDA reads words twice while navigating by word when they precede a punctuation mark.

3.  When I was typing this message in the groups.io interface, a separator line appeared when I inserted a blank line in the text.  At the location of the blank line, NVDA would read the previous line of text.  When I pressed ALT+TAB to go to a different window, then navigated back to the message, the text appeared correctly.

4.  What does the update to the espeak-ng synthesizer do?

Tomorrow I will try and locate it and see what and who it is and let you know.
I am not sure if it has a windows ten driver or not,
but you are welcome to it if you like.
Talk tomorrow,

Almost all Braille displays work with NVDA. You may have to install the manufacturer's driver. This is all covered on the NVDEA website.

Since using NVDA with a Braille Display falls into permissible discussion on the main group, I wanted to make sure that there were "eyes on" here in the main group.

I did not copy and paste since everything is all laid out in the message linked to above. Responses are appropriate here on the main group, too.

One thing Groups.io doesn't support is moving a topic from a subgroup to a main group or vice versa, and I wish they did, as these things happen.

If you look at emulated keys, you may find something useful to you.

NVDA+n, p, n.
Then go down to the category: Emulated system keyboard keys.
Expand that with right arrow.
Then press alt+a to add a new emulation.
It will ask you to enter the key you want to emulate. In your case you can press the key sequence for control+end, or even nvda+control+end, whatever that four key sequence is for you.
The key you entered will become a new option in the category. Move to it if you aren't already there, then press alt+a to add a gesture for it.
You can then enter a gesture to activate that key, just like any other custom gesture mapping.

As it happens, I have recently produced an add-on which does exactly this.

Here is the latest version, which is newer than the one on community add-ons site.

Dear Soloman, sorry please, but so far your language is not in the list of available.
As I wrote before, it all depends on whether your language will be added to the online dictionary on remote server.
So far, the list of available languages there has not changed for several years.

It is very strange.
I just checked this situation - everything works fine.
The fact is that when there are errors connecting to the server, this add-on immediately reports such errors and writes them to the log NVDA.
The only thing that comes to my mind is a blocked access token due to a large number of requests from different users.
But I also use this token and everything works well for me.
In my opinion there are two possible solutions:

1.
In the add-on settings (NVDA+Y then O), check "Use alternate server", then "Ok" button.
Select the word again and press NVDA+Y twice.
I hope this helps.

2. The second way is to register your own access token and specify it in the add-on settings. You will find a link to the registration in the application settings dialog.
But before registering, please check if there are pairs of languages that interest you in the add-on.

Good luck to all!

Re: Acer laptop has not HOME and END keys for NVDA

I can't guarantee that it will work, but have you looked at SharpKeys?  And when the developer describes this as a registry hack he means that the software he's written is doing the hacking/tweaking through a more user friendly interface.

I absolutely despise any laptop (or netbook, but I won't touch those) that does not have a full keyboard with number pad.  But SharpKeys can be very helpful in creating alternate keyboard shortcuts for four-key-press native ones.  You just need to be certain that what you're choosing isn't already used for something you do routinely.
