As far as having scripts disabled, which is what you are discussing, I

That is probably the issue, if you don't allow dinamic content on the
page, you're heading for trouble.

Are you having the same issue(s) with Tor Browser?

Also have you look at the changelog between the two releases to
understand what could trigger the issue(s)?

Did you try the latest release of NVDA next (trunk)?

I always liked NVDA+a and don't find it awkward at all, but then again I use the caps lock as my NVDA modifier key, and "a" is right next to it. :)   

Hi Quinton,  NVDA, A still works, but I thought it might have changed to an improved way.  I did restart the computer after updating.  I’ve always thought that NVDA, A was awkward, but I’m used to it now.  I should go check What’s New after any update.  I’ve done it, but there are so many new steps that I usually can’t find what I’m looking for.  Maybe I’m just a lazy old thing. Lololol.

If you have NVDA setup in laptop keyboard layout, then NVDA+A should still work for say all.  If you are using NVDA in desktop keyboard layout, then the keystroke is NVDA+down arrow.

 

If you press NVDA+control+k it opens NVDA's keyboard settings and you can check or change your keyboard layout.

 

Finally, if you find it's not working, have you restarted the PC since you updated NVDA?  Try that first and see if it comes back again.

I just updated my NVDA.

Works great 😀

I love the new feature where the touch interaction can be toggled on and off.

And NVDA definitely seems more responsive.

I am currently using Microsoft word and NVDA seems more responsive while typing, reading character by character, etc.

I love it 😀

I've only noticed one thing so far, and it's not necessarily a bad thing either, just something new to adjust to. The pauses after periods are shorter. I don't know why that is. If you can still use an older version, there will, I'm sure, be no solution forthcoming, unless someone wants to create an add-on, if an add-on can solve the problem.

Outlook Express has not been supported since whenever Windows XP went out of support. I think that was roughly six years ago.

You may have to do something like use a portable version of an earlier NVDA for Outlook Express and switch to the installed version for general work if you want to use this version as your general version.

Although this is definitely useful information to have shared, it should hardly be surprising.  Outlook Express has been out of support for many years now.  There is going to be no attempt, years after something goes out of support, for any contemporary software (NVDA, in this case) to maintain backward compatibility with it.

And, before this starts a firestorm about Outlook Express and the love for it and the demand that it should be able to be used, I refer you to the group rule:

The discussion of software on the NVDA Group is limited to software currently in support.  Depending on the type of software, specific version numbers will change with time.  Users are expected to know what remains in support and what has been dropped, and announcements will be made to this group when new versions of NVDA are released. It should be assumed that, when a new version of software is released, primary discussion will take place on that version, not versions of software which are years old. 

Outlook Express is no longer currently in support, so it will not be a valid topic for discussion on this group.

In laptop its still the same NVDA key + f7.
So the insert or caps lock keys with f7 give you the elements list.
In desktop caps lock + a, does nothing. it reads from system carrot to the end.

          When Groups.io has difficulty sending messages to the e-mail address of record for your Groups.io account, you are sent an e-mail message like this one in the documentation:

That example dates from 2019, so I'm not certain whether any format changes have been made.  As the instructions note toward the end of the message, "To unbounce your account, go to the following link:," where the link to activate is custom generated for a given bounce incident.

What I would like to know is what Groups.io tells you after activating the link, whether that's a message after activation on the page it directs to saying that you have successfully (or unsuccessfully) gotten rid of the bounce, or if you get an e-mail message confirming this.

So the next time any one of you gets a bounce notification, and activates that link, would you mind sending a message to nvda+owner@nvda.groups.io letting me know what sort of response, whether online at the page for the link, or via e-mail, you get once this link is activated?

Hi.

Well, today after cruising through all my sites including the blogspot one, on waterfox 2020.08 I decided to check the log.

For the rest of you not wanting to break down the log here is the deal.

While there were no rpc errors, garbage collecter generated over 184 errors in a stack.

These seemed to be i accessible windows and other modules.

Here is the thing.

in waterfox 2020.09 this crashed waterfox and froze nvda.

in 08 it does nothing.

Fine, but now that puts the question, what the difference is.

Technically I guess it doesn't matter.

However if nvda is generating errors and can run fine why should it.

Except in the latest waterfox it is actually having an issue with them.

Now granted waterfox does get some updates from mozilla firefox for both its current and classic builds and firefox has had a few small updates to get past some issues, so who knows.

This does put a prospective on the errors though that I have been having.

These look to be web page interaction errors, maybe buffers who knows.

The question, what is the difference betwene the 2 waterfox versions that both get nvda to generate the same error.

The thing is, in 2020.08 nvda doesn't give a damn.

In 09 it does.

I don't know why but if we can find this out maybe we can fix other issues, who knows.

At any rate I will try again once the latest waterfox appears.

And if that continues to continue I'll just stay on 08 for ever.

My security tools I have are probably enough though I was hoping to continue using this brouser as updated as I can, and granted while its a lot better, the random errors and weird crashes turn me off quite quickly.

If it were not for some sites in chrome that have deciman points in prices, ie 19.00 is 1900 where the points seem to be excluded I'd probably switch to chrome, also the way some content is displayed like the hp website in chrome and how it interacts is a bit strange to.

Wow--I didn't think of that. I don't know a lot about laptops. I'm so used to using a desktop.
