The following will help so you know when it is selected or not and the add on will tell you how many were high lighted etc. Do not worry about the spelling mistakes they will be fixed up before they go to my website. *Selecting and unselecting files in file explorer when you go into a folder in file explorer you might only want to copy certain files out of that folder. They might not be together or in a group. to copy only certain files out of the folder if there are heaps of them you will need to do the following. it would be easier to go to the top of the folder so you can see all the files below. Now hold down the CTRL key then use the space bar to select or unselect hightlight files. Each time you press the space bar on a unselected file it will then become selected. Work your way down the files you want and select them with the spacebar while still holding the CTRL key. You should hear wheather it is select or unselected. as you arrow down the list of files.r To confirm which ones you selected while still holding down the CTRL key go to the top of the folder then arrow down the list. If it only says the name of the song it is selected but if it says the name of the song and unselected then you know it is not. Usually the status bar can be read with the NVDA key + END key but not at present. Gene nz

NVDA and current selection in file explorer
William
Hi all,
In file explorer, after doing file or folder selection with shift up or down arrow, if I press num 5 key, it will only report the last item being selected. After reading the user menu, it seemed that there is no way to report what are the items being selected? Thanks, William

I really do not know it should only work if the focus is on the document. I originally thought that it works if the current active window is a web browser. Gene 於 17/10/2020 22:12 寫道:
If you are in the right place, browse mode should be on. Make sure you are actually in the blank page. Use f6 as probably the fastest way to get there. I have my browsers open to a blank page and if I am in the right place, browse mode is active and the descriptions work as you describe.

I agree.

For a while at home we got our computers constructed and customised by a local guy. When he retired he put us onto his supplier which is also good. Saying that, said supplier is not the one that sells you extras, you find what you want, and say I want it and thats all. My laptop I am typing this message on and the keyboard come from this supplier and they have a good track record on repair. Most of the people I do repairs for can't afford that much so every christmas I always seem to recieve a large pack of chocolate, or well whatever.

That will be in task bar under personalization. I have that shut off actually so I see **all** of the stuff in my system tray.

I'm not sure what that means. While its good that they are willing to do so, do they have the knowledge to evaluate how it works? If they upgrade a program, do they know how to evaluate whether it is accessible?

I don't want anyone who isn't an adaptive technology specialist to make changes to my computer that might affect accessibility, the resolution of the video display, upgrading programs, nothing without my consent. One reason we have problems with accessibility of programs is that those who develop the program don't know how to evaluate what is good or not good or almost meaningless accessibility. What good are the controls of a dialog, such as a yes or no button being read if the text of the dialog isn't. I've seen that in this or that program, where accessibility isn't properly implemented. I've seen most things read properly but what does the button do that just says button. How do I know if it affects what I want to do when using or working with settings in a program? Gene

Some will go with that deal and some just format, replace and out the door.

No shop or tech should keep a box for a week or more unless having supply issues. I once had to wait a month for graphic cards. Gamers get real impatient for the boxes. So you always let the customer know all delays for Q/A and confirmations.

Hi Marten
Thanks for writing. I am afraid I don't see the option to change the display driver. I took the following action: 1. Windows N for Narrator Settings 2. Shift Tab 17 times. This took me beyond the braille settings. 3. Tab twice to "Use BRLTTy" I don't see how to change this. What am I missing? Pele

That said, good help is hard to find. I'm lucky in that I found a local independent computer repairer and recycler who have been in business for a long time. So far, they've been friendly, knowledgeable, and quite fair on pricing. Chris

The techie that took my friend's computer to supposedly fix it did it out of his ownhome. He kept it for over a year and when my friend tried to call him to ask about the computer, he never returned her calls. I've heard of dishonesty but this takes the cake! Now she's having trouble with it again. She has to redownload NVDA so I think there's something wrong with the computer itself. Rosemarie

Move to Windows 10 App Essentials, press enter, move to the "stable version" link, and select that. > Is it essential to use it with windows 10?? Windows 10 will be more accessible and much more pleasant to use if you do use the add-on. You can use NVDA in Windows 10 without it, but I can't think of a good reason not to use Win 10 App Essentials, and many good reasons why you should use it. Does it automatically come with either windows 10 or nvda? No. See above. Luke
