Yes, I've seen that. I typed in part of the password then I was locked out because I was taken somewhere else when trying to log in.

This happens sometimes I have found maybe it skips to the wrong field and only gets part of the password, then it will stop you logging in for a time.

Is this what happens? You go to the site and the page comes up where
you enter your GMail address. Then when you activate the next

Tab once. If you go out of forms mode, go back in. Read the current
line to make sure you are still on the next button. Press the space
bar if you are. Don't press enter.

That's awful. You should be allowed to get rid of things like office if you don’t want it or you have something already. There should never be a problem if you get rid of things you don’t want.

Internet explorer has to be there if its windows 10, as does edge of course.

I have to admit I'm not a great fan of chain stores supplied computers as they often come laden with software that are only there to try to get the user to pay when the trial runs out, all of which can completely screw up windows when you attempt to remove them.

Yes to mozilla fire fox and google chrome. There is no internet
explorer on her version. I went looking for it but is a shop brough
laptop with 10 on it. unless i missed it some where.



it also does not speak the menus for say note pad microsoft word but
yes i could navigate the start menus all apps etc and file manager etc.


But is is like the buffer is some how buggeree even when bringing up a
webpage, it will not speak the contents of it or even speak the menus
when you go to use them.

Yes, I've seen this using word 5.1 in its day. The screen reader for doss was not that great. It served its purpose but often it went silent when saving your documents. I see this very seldom using word 2010.

about libreoffice i can say i observed since version 5.0 rarely and
5.1 all the time specially.
with 5.1 of libreoffice for this reason and very change in its menus, i was not comfortable!

The observation I'd like to ask about occurs on my desktop PC running
Windows 10 Anniversary Edition but I also notice similar behavior on a
Windows 7 laptop. The desktop has Office 2016 installed and the laptop
has Office 2013.

When I first open Word NVDA is often silent, rather than speaking the
title of the program which has gained focus. In other words, the
expected behavior is that, once Word opens and gains focus, NVDA would
verify this by speaking the title of the window, such as "document 1,
Microsoft Word." However, when opening Word after the system has
booted this does not happen. NVDA is silent and pressing insert+T just
reads "winword." At this point, if I move focus away from and then
back to the document window NVDA reads the title as expected. As an
example, if I press the alt key once to move to the ribbon and then a
second time to return to the document I will hear "Document 1, Microsoft Word."
Subsequent attempts to open Word usually cause NVDA to behave as
expected and the title of the document window is automatically spoken.

Along the same lines, I see similar behavior when attempting to save a
document by pressing ctrl+S. When I press this key, the "save" dialog
loads but NVDA is totally silent. If I press the alt key twice, NVDA
then confirms that I am in the dialog. Another NVDA user brought this
up during a recent computer users' group that I moderate and so I
decided to post these experiences to this group to see if others have
observed similar behavior. I'm wondering if an open ticket exists for
this bug on Github.

Yes to the browsers and programs with menus.


I will get her to download a copy of window eyes and see if i get the
same result. Hopefully we might be going up her way this week and might
be able to do it in person after the conference.


at least then also if i do need sighted help the wife can do that part
of it.

I think also i will if i do really have to take it back to factory reset
also enable it so it saves every so offen for restore points.

Hi David,

I can duplicate this on word 2016 running windows 10. However, if I read the
current line, I do hear something like "waiting for microsoft word". I swap out
of word and swap back in and NVDA behaves as expected.

and then back to the document window NVDA reads the title as expected. As an
example, if I press the alt key once to move to the ribbon and then a second
time to return to the document I will hear "Document 1, Microsoft Word."
Subsequent attempts to open Word usually cause NVDA to behave as expected and
the title of the document window is automatically spoken.

Along the same lines, I see similar behavior when attempting to save a document
by pressing ctrl+S. When I press this key, the "save" dialog loads but NVDA is
totally silent. If I press the alt key twice, NVDA then confirms that I am in
the dialog. Another NVDA user brought this up during a recent computer users'
group that I moderate and so I decided to post these experiences to this group
to see if others have observed similar behavior. I'm wondering if an open ticket
exists for this bug on Github.

After you fill in the "to" field, press Enter and shift-tab. You can then
arrow up and down to choose, cc and bcc fields. Tab over to the edit field
when you found the one you want.

about libreoffice i can say i observed since version 5.0 rarely and
5.1 all the time specially.
with 5.1 of libreoffice for this reason and very change in its menus,
i was not comfortable!

Re downloading NVDA. The reason an e-mail is asked for is both because it
gives an easy way to opt in to our mailing list (which isn't sold or shared
and which is only really posted to when there is actually news to share)
and to help keep track of download statistics. Yes it could be seen as a
little annoying, but to be honest, there are very few programs which don't
ask for this nowdays. Once you have downloaded the program and installed
it, then it automatically checks for updates and prompts to install the new
version without asking for an email address etc again.

Re the snapshots, I'll have to have a look tomorrow - I've been using the
RC build lately - I know there was a bug a few weeks ago where it would
ding at you as if you'd pressed a wrong key, doing many things in Word,
which sounds a bit like you describe - I thought we'd sorted that out but
it could be something else. Are you using the latest snapshot and can you
give a specific example to reproduce it please?

Hi Group

 

The Institute for the Blind, or as it is known after a name change, Kaleidoscope, opened a hightech training centre for the training of vision impaired people, world wide, on I-phone, or IOS based equipment.

 

Of the intended trainees will be the students at the Pioneer School for the Vission Impaired in Worcester, South Africa.

 

Can anybody advise us on the availability of educational games, or any other games, that might be suited for the initial introduction of children aged from 5 to 10 years. Advice on games for teenagers and adults will also be welcome.

 

The games must be I-phone or IOS based. If the games are free, it will be fantastic, but if not, we’ll buy. The bottom line is just that we need to get such games to use for the introduction of children to the I-phone/IOS environment.

I had exactly this problem a few months ago when I installed Office 2016 on
my PC running Windows 10. I found the solution to do with the trust centre
and with unblocking files in the properties of each file before opening
them. This is different from "protection view" when the document is open. I
did send a note earlier this week on this topic but I expect it was swamped
by other responses.



Can you confirm that the files you are trying to open are blocked or
unblocked in "Properties"?
