Re: CONNECTING A MANTIS DISPLAY

Hi, Quentin
Sorry for the confusion, I sent a subsequent message to say that I now have it working, thanks. Don’t know what I didn’t do right the first time round other than, probably, not following procedure correctly but have got it to work now using the automatic detection setting.
Thanks Richard Bartholomew

Hi Richard,
I don't have one handy to test, but according to the User Guide: https://www.nvaccess.org/files/nvda/documentation/userGuide.html#HumanWareBrailliant it should work. Are you getting an error or message or simply no Braille?
Quentin.

Re: NVDA integration in video games
Sascha Cowley
First, this topic does not belong on the main list; it should be on the chat or development sublists.
Second, the NVDA controler client is a programmatic way of developers integrating their software with NVDA. For example, it allows them to send speech or Braille to NVDA to be output. As for weather we can "integrate the NVDA to any software or game", that depends what you mean. There is no technical reason why any proficient developer would be unable to so integrate their Windows program with NVDA. At the end-user side, the answer is not really: integration of this type requires modification of the program itself, while integration via scripting requires some sort of events that NVDA can hook into, which many programs simply do not provide.

NVDA integration in video games
abdul muhamin
Hi. Now a days, video games developers are trying to integrate NVDA support in video games like skullgirls and the emulator called retroarch, I’ve seen a file in both the mentioned game/emulator called NVDA controller client.dll, I think its related to the speech during the menues. So my question is, can we also integrate the NVDA to any software or game? I’m sure it requires advance knowledge in programing languages, what do you think?

Windows 10 App Essentials 20.11
#addonrelease
Hi all, Windows 10 App Essentials 20.11 is on its way – it will show up in about half an hour from now. This version is mostly a maintenance release as it contains more lint fixes.
IMPORTANT: starting from this release, Windows 10 App Essentials will require NVDA 2020.2 or later. Cheers, Joseph

Re: Tutorials On New Facebook Platform?
hurrikennyandopo ...
Hi David
the tutorial will go up to the following website to a page called nvda tutorials for other programs but the main site is called Accessibilitycentral.net Any of the nvda tutorials will link to other pages to do with nvda and the home key takes you to the main page where you can find other blindness related material.
I think when I looked there yesterday the classic version is no more as of a month or so ago but would have to check to make sure. If I remember you could go to it in the log out section or on that menu to it.

Re: Two NVDA Questions

Hi Pele The focus issue with the VBA editor is long-standing. I used to use it with Office 2007 and raised it on a few occasions on the list but got no responses. It got to the point where I used to use Notepad to code macros then copy and paste them into the VBA modules for compilation. It drove me mad.

NVDA can't do that refresh screen thing as Window-Eyes and other SR can do, because NVDA isn't using a mirrow display

driver to access the screen content. If you have an example Excel file with VBA code where you can't read reliable the lines of code please send it to me privatly and I can verify if I can reproduce it with Office 365. Regards, Ralf

I use MS Office 2010 and do a lot of work using VBA. When using the VBA Editor NVDA often misses out lines of code, particularly if you cursor down through the code and then cursor up again. I have not found an easy way of focussing on these lines that does not involve going to the top or bottom of the program and losing my place. I don't know if a key to refresh the screen would solve this, but I thought it was worth finding out. JAWS and Window-Eyes do not miss out these lines of code. It may be that I should get a later version of MSOffice, but I am interested in why these lines of code are sometimes missed out. Pele West
