Re: Unable to access Auto-play options when connecting my flash drive

Hi

Do the following press the windows key and in the search box type con then press the enter key.

When the control panel comes up then press the letter A for autoplay or you will have to get to it depending how you have it set then press the enter key.

When the next screen comes up make sure the first box is ticked then go through your settings for each device and set them to your preference. There is also a setting right down the bottom where you can run software of a cd or install it if I remember right not that many of us do it that way now.

The directions sitll work on the latest version of windows 10.

hope it helps.

Not sure if this is correct since I haven't needed to use it in a long time but tried Windows-Shift-A.  If not correct, what is the hotkey combination?
Thanks.

I just had to do this.  I went into Auto Play settings, done within
Control Panel, Settings, or by entering Auto Play in the search box.
You can then tab over to different options such as DVD, SD Cards, etc.
and use up and down arrows to choose a default action for each.

there at all--only removable drives and memory cards/USB sticks but
nothing for removable disks.

Thanks.

either, /Ask me every time/, or, /Open folder to view files (File

My guess is that it's now set to, /Take no action/.

The default was Ask me Every time, so changed to Open to View Folders
which appears to have done it.  Thanks.

Bob, you may have to go to the autoplay options, I think, somewhere in control panel.

Re: NVDA is not working in Excel 2019

Hi all.

In Excel, NVDA go to read the format when the focus is on the cell with NVDA]shift]f, NVDA]f is when the cursor is in the edit box of the cell, because in NVDA 2020.3 the command NVDA]f now say the format in the system cursor, and NVDA]shift]f of the review cursor.

And yes, NVDA have problems in the dialog fond that Bryan mentioned, other users of Spanish community also report it.

Just for the record, it's also behaving similarly in Excel 2016.  What's even stranger is if you bring up the Font dialog via CTRL+SHIFT+F it's reporting the font name and style (probably size, too, but I stopped after the first two) as blank when there is clearly a font name and regular in the respective boxes.

Re: Odd one with Add-On Updater

Hi everyone,

This is not the fault of Add-on Updater, but rather due to system changes being made to the server the add-on uses to check for updates. I’ll notify add-ons community and NV Access. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Cheers,

Joseph

Subject: Re: [nvda] Odd one with Add-On Updater

If memory serves Add-On Updater uses files created by the add-on developers to determine what is the latest version.  I seem to remember this occurring once or twice in the past when an add-on itself was updated but there was an oversight about updating the file that Add-On Updater uses to determine what the latest version is.

It would also make sense, at least to me, that if what Add-On Updater sees as the currently installed add-on version number is higher than whatever is indicated as the latest version in the reference file that it would accept that add-on as current, notifying the user that it has done so.  I don't know whether it would be possible to trigger an e-mail to the add-on developer if this situation occurs, but that would likely be helpful in resolving this sort of issue promptly as well.  Never having seen the code nor programmed in Python, I really don't know whether either one of these things would be a so-called "easy fix" or close to impossible.

Odd one with Add-On Updater

Roger Stewart

When I started up this morning, I got a notice from add on updater that a new version of the mp3 direct cut add on is available.  I did update to the latest version yesterday.  I actually have 20.12 installed but add on updater thinks that 19.12 is the current version.  For now I'll just tell add on updater to not check for updates of this add on but hope this can get fixed.

Re: NVDA and Math

Josh Kennedy <joshknnd1982@...>

you could also do a Google search for the free math viewer ad on for NVDA. It will take standard latex and ascii math and will convert it to math ML and put it in a browse mode buffer for you to review with speech or braille. As long as math player is installed first.

Re: How do I copy tables from a webpage while preserving their formatting

Ann Byrne

With the cursor on the line that says something like "five columns and three rows", press f8. That will select the whole table with formatting. Copy and paste it into the Word document.

Re: NVDA and Math

Regarding access8math, it doesn't need MathPlayer. Actually I couldn't figure out how to use MathPlayer either, but Access8Math works perfectly. But I only tested it on wikipedia formulas, not sure how it works with other types of formulas.

Hello all,

To circle back on a few threads earlier this fall, I have a few questions about accessing math content with NVDA.

The NVDA user guide references MathPlayer. However, MathPlayer's site doesn't show any updates more recent than 2016. Is this accurate? If so, does it work with any of the newer browsers?

For Lamda, does the add-on function outside of the Lambda application? I'm only dipping into linear algebra as a pre-req for a data science course so am not sure if getting the Lamda application is necessary/advisable. Does the Lambda add-on read math in webpages or word on its own?

Lastly, how does access8math work with NVDA? Is it also reliant on the MathPlayer?

so far, I've been unable to get the NVDA math hotkey (NVDA + alt+ m) to work under any circumstances, including in places that ChromeVox correctly identifies MathJax.

Any and all guidance on how to start getting this working would be a huge help. I haven't ever done math through a screen reader and haven't done math of any kind since before 2005, not counting college stats classes when I had some residual vision.

Thank you in advance!
