It was, in the archive, but that's the only place that a topic that's been split, whether accidentally or intentionally, can be merged back together.

All it takes is the person sending a reply making a single character change in the subject of the message, or correcting a spelling or capitalization, or similar, for a single topic to be split into two as far as e-mail clients are concerned.  And those who reply to the original topic will show up on that topic, and those who reply to any message in a revised subject topic will end up on that one.

There is no way for any list administrator to fix that, as e-mail threading itself is what causes that split.

That is why I have, on multiple groups, asked people to avoid changing subject lines.  And on those occasions where I need to re-title a topic so that future archive searchers are likely to find it, I always send out a message with the revised title and ask all who wish to respond from that point forward to use that message, or one that is a direct response to it, as the thing to reply to, not the original.

I spend a lot of time merging topics split by members, whether by intent or by accident.  But I can only make them come together again in the archive, not in email clients.  And if a member takes a topic that you've muted or unfollowed, and changes the subject line, it will appear again because it is considered a new topic, both by e-mail clients and groups.io.

Is NVDA good with Libre Office or Open Office?

I searched the forum for this and found some problems with NVDA and Libre Office or Open Office.
Is anyone happy using current versions of these programs with NVDA?
My friend has used Office 2010 for years but is changing computers and wants to update to Office 2019.  He must update two computers so expense is an issue.
Thanks for your advice.

You could try direct sound API – it has limitations but probably wouldn’t affect you and many older applications (including stuff like winamp) still use it.

As an experiment, you could try turning off JAWS and see if you still get an error when trying to record. Wasapi-enabled applications are supposed to be able to take exclusive control of the sound device, though I don’t see any options in GW for doing this and it’s been a while since I played with such things. Obviously, to have speech going through the same device while using Goldwave, this isn’t something that you want.

I would think the same. I wouldn't have thought to use AIRA, but

that's probably the only way you can read screen shots. As for sending

screen shots, that's pretty easy, but I wish Windows would be like the

mac where you actually hear the camera as it takes the screenshot.

This is part of the reason why I've never taken one, but at least in

theory it's pretty easy to do.

No, I don't think they are limited. It is up to the mod to lock after a certain number of messages. I think in my case I have all of my threads on all lists I run set to unlimited, and they can get quite large. I'm ok with that as I just ignore the ones I don't want to read.

Hi,

Ah, I see.

What you are describing is called “focus mode” where whatever key you press will be dealt not by NVDA but by the web application you are using. For example, pressing K while playing a YouTube video will pause the video if focus mode is on, whereas NVDA will move you to the next link if browse mode is active.

Screen review, on the other hand, will let you review the contents of an app’s window. For example, under older programs, activating screen review mode will let you see the contents of the app that aren’t accessible with keyboard commands. These days screen review would not work properly in newer apps but you can find out the contents of a window by doing an OCR (NVDA+R).

computer. Can NVDA read them? Heer’s the e-mail my room mate sent to
me so I can ask on this list. Another blind computer user thinks you
can’t do it. This was from another blind tec list. My room mate uses
a mac computer but she has access to a windows computer that has both
NVDA and Jaws on it. Here is the Message.

Hey there Kerri!

Happy Friday! Stephanie here from Shopify. Thank you again for taking
the time out of your day to meet with me yesterday regarding the
Junior Support Advisor

position. I really enjoyed out chat :)

I wanted to reach out to get a little more information from you
regarding the types of tools/accommodations you would require to
assist with the role,

should we move forward with your application. You mentioned the use of
a screen reader that would assist with all text based info - would you
be able to

let me know which screen reader it is that you use so I can check in
with our team to ensure compatibility?

The JSA role does involve sending and receiving image files to/from
merchants. For example, we often use screenshots of merchant's online
shops to help

troubleshoot issues that they may be facing. There are also image
based problems that often come up often with merchants such as product
image quality,

placement, and size. Are images something that you would be
comfortable assisting with?

Any additional information would much appreciated as I can then pass
everything along to our Accessibility team.

Hope you have an awesome weekend Kerri and I look forward to hearing
back from you!

Talk soon,

Stephanie

calibre and NVDA

Hello all. I'm currently running the latest version of Calibre, 5.10.1. I thought there was some piece of software or an NVDA add-on that would make this a bit ore accessible. Any leads would be appreciated.

Re: On Intentionally Marking Any Groups.io Message as Spam - DON'T #adminnotice

Hi.  I've had to mark some of the messages from the group platforms I'm on as "not spam", because they end up in the spam folder.  I've never marked them as spam.

Thanks,

Louise
