Well kids send your caviar wishes and dreams to either James Teh or Michael CUrren. It might be in NVDA 2017.1 next year.

Hi,
I use Dropbox, One Drive, or Google Drive. Drop box is the easiest to use. Just put the tutorial in your drop box folder on your computer, and it will upload to your drop box account. Then, go back into your drop box folder and select the tutorial and press applications and go down to share link and press enter. A link will be copied to the clip board for you to paste right in the email. That way, we can all enter on the link in your email and download the tutorial to our computers. Hope that helps.

I fixed my problem!  In short, I had some AVG processes running, including the shield, when AVG was not installed. I fixed it by installing AVG again and making sure it was completely installed.

Re: Trouble installing 2016.3

Yeah you shouldn't run to many malware tools.
Here is the thing, you can run one antivirus, one malware tool, etc.
Thing is its the protections for all those going at the same time you can have as many on demand tools as your hard drive can hold.
But only 1 protection up at once unless it says it will work with antivirus programs some do some do not.
I once had a user that had a virus.
It was bad, she solved it by installing 500 plus antivirus and malware programs.
All of them got expired, her system died.
I ended up almost reformatting.
At great expence of time and sanity I managed to remove all her security subsystem.
Installing onley 1 of the programs she had and well then it worked.
Another thing to note, if you pay for an app like a security suite make sure you keep your subscription up to date.
My cousin and I had a talk because his system had a problem with his network, it got a major virus which overrode his bios, etc.
I had to recover everything completely.
Me, um what did you do.
He, I got a virus.
But don't you pay for xxx security?
He, um yeah.
Ok, so did one get through.
he um, I'm almost embarased to tell you but I like sort of forgot to like update my subscription and its sort of been espired for like a day anand a half maybe a week maybe who knows I just noticed I havn't done it.
Me, um you sort of need that subscribed dude, him, um yeah, I have done so but I may forget again.
Yeah, a good reason to have a note somewhere.

I am having a problem downloading NVDA 2016.3 version on windows 10 64 bit.

when I download through NVDA it downloads but does not install.
when I try to run the setup file manually nothing happens, at all, not even an UAC message or something.

when I try to update via Ninite it says the update is not supported.

when I try to install NVDA with ninite after uninstalling it, Ninite gives me an access is denied error.

Idid have AVG but uninstalled it. I realized the other day there are still backround processes running even though I uninstalled it with Revo uninstaller making sure to delete all the leftover files, then going in to regedit and deleting the entire AVG category... but it still will not install. Older versions work just fine. It is just 2016.3 that will not work.

I am currently using 2016.1. I have AVG uninstalled, as well as AVAST.

Re: Trouble installing 2016.3

I'm not sure about this but I think the tools must often be run in safe mode.  In this case, all of this trouble can be avoided if you learn how to turn off protection before trying to install NVDA.  And I'm skeptical that AVG has anything to do with the problem.  Isn't it reasonable to expect that if a widely used antivirus program such as AVG were blocking the installation, many other comments would have been sent to the list from users having the problem, even if they didn't know what the cause is?  It's unfortunate that no one has explained how to disable protection in AVG.  Perhaps joining another list might yield better results concerning getting information about that program.  But not knowing how to temporarily turn off protection for whatever antivirus program one is using is a serious deficiency in knowledge and may cause serious problems, depending on the situation. And knowing how to tell the antivirus program not to monitor one or more files or folders is also important knowledge.

You might consider also downloading a snapshot from master as this has internal error sounds enabled and might aid in figuring out what is going on.

I suspect that even an older version on the machine we have heard about would fail though, as it seems to me that something else on the machine has changed since the last install, making the installation fail.

Hi,
Here is the link to download nvda_2016.2.1
<http://www.nvaccess.org/files/nvda/releases/2016.2.1/nvda_2016.2.1.exe>.

Hoping that NV Access provide a page for users to download old versions.
The reason why we need this, just for some case test.

Otherwise, when user click previous posts and view download page. We just
read a heading called “NVDA Version: 2016.3” (the latest one).

It sounded to me like it was that classic case of screens comingup during an install disabling the screenreader.
I cannot figure out, though why the earlier version has been working unless the program causing the issue has been updated or its parameters altered since thelast nvda update.

You don't have to remove antivirus programs if they cause installation problems. To make things much easier in future, you can learn to disable the program temporarily. Some programs require that antivirus programs be inactive during installation. I have never heard of NVDA requiring such and if your antivirus program were blocking it, you should be notified by the program.

I don't know why you are having this problem but I'm trying to prevent you from doing a lot of unnecessary work in future if you think your antivirus program is causing a problem.

Could this be some permissions issue on the machine, after all portable versions are by their nature not allowed to access some screens, and if an into virus or some other protection is active it is going to be hard to find the problem. I'd suggest enabling narrator before trying it again to get a look at the screens being shown and also have a look at any log file generated.
