You can do exactly the same thing in Word.

Set nvda to report column and row headers in word

William

Hi,

I know that we can do nvda shift r or nvda shift c to set that cell as the header for the column and row in excel respectively.

But if it is in word table, is there a way we can configure this?

Thanks.

I can verify Brian’s comment that Windows 10 App Essentials is not tied to any Office programs – it may affect certain Office app experiences based on what Windows 10 says, not what Office says.

Re: NVDA Alpha installer

Hi,

Speaking of which, a potential fix has just landed in the latest alpha snapshot (master branch) commit. Please wait about 30 minutes and install the latest alpha that’s shown and report back if it resolves the installation issues.

Technical: caused by changes to make NVDA’s GUI interface comply with more recent wxWidgets recommendations.

Cheers,

Joseph

Hello Kelly. I’ve had that exact same problem myself with a friends computer. There is two ways of fixing this.

  1. Alt tab into the application using the alt and the tab keys, or
  2. Press alt space to open the system menu, and press X to maximise the window.

That’s how you fix this.

Thanks, Sky

Hey I just tried to install the NVDA alpha. I think their is an error in the installer code. When I press the install NVDA on this computer it gives me a error sound within NVDA, not from windows. I do not have experience with github, so I have to post it right here. Thank you.

Actually that's not entirely accurate, as the original poster could
use configuration profiles to only turn off row and column
announcements in the chosen web browser.

Hi,

Windows+Shift+V (Version 1809 and later; Windows+V for older releases).

Can you tell us which notifications you are interested in interacting with (clicking), specifically under which app and task?

Cheers,

Are these actually free-floating pop-up messages, or are they being delivered through the Windows 10 notification mechanism.

The vast majority of notifications I'm getting these days, regardless of the app or application (outside of Office), show up as the slide out messages formerly known as toasts, and then get shuttled over to the Action Center if you don't interact with them.

The first thing I'd try, in order to determine exactly what's happening, is hitting CTRL+SHIFT+V as quickly as possible once you hear the notification announced, which should throw focus to it.  If it tells you to click it, hitting enter once you have focus should do the same as a mouse click.

You may also wish to consider extending the period of time a notification displays before being shuttled to the Action Center.  This can be tweaked in Settings, Ease of Access, Display Pane using the Show notifications for dropdown.  I think the default is 5 seconds, and I've got mine set to 7 seconds, but you can go as high as 5 minutes.  The available increments are 5, 7, 15, and 30 seconds along with 1 and 5 minutes.

If it's not being handled through Windows notifications then I have no idea, and would need to replicate it.  And that would also mean that it's really a question much more about how the app works, rather than how NVDA works, so a deep dive is better done on the Chat Subgroup.
