Joseph, I just want to take this opportunity to thank you for your years of service to the NVDA community. They are greatly appreciated.
I look forward to hearing how your studies go and where they will lead you in the future.

You can navigate to the next heading at a particular level by pressing that level's number on the number row. So to jump to the next level 3 heading, you would press 3. As with all of these browse-mode shortcuts, you can jump backward by pressing Shift + <command>.

I expect you will need to download and install the HIMS USB Driver: http://www.himsintl.com/upload/HIMS_USB_Driver_v25.zip This zip file has one executable file, but the installation consists of two drivers which run one after the other, so be sure to see it through to the end. Thanks Sam

navigating headings

Hi List,
I am using;
www. https://nnels.ca/
more these days. It is an national network of equitable library services. It is available to all print disabled Canadians with a local library card.
When I do a search on this web site, I find myself pressing the letter “h” for headings til I get to the first result. When I get to the first result, nvda says “heading llevel 3”.
Is there a key press, combo I can press to jump to the first “heading level 3” without going through all the previous headings?
Please, don’t kick me off the island, because I did not find the answer to my question in the quick start guide.
Cheers,
Monte

the heavens, Joseph. You'll do well at whatever you put your mind and hands to. We appreciate (and admire) the contributions you've made to NVDA at a still very young age, & we know you'll be making similarly spectacular contributions wherever you choose to do so. Do jump in every now & again, please, just to update us all on your progress. We do care and are interested to know about how you're getting on. I think you'll find grad school a lot easier than you think it's going to be :). 1 day at a time gets it done. You've got more on the ball than I ever thought about having, so if I can do it, you can likely breeze through it.

I agree with Brian that registry cleaners should not be used unless there
is reason to believe a problem is a registry problem and if so, I think the
problem should be asked about anyway first much of the time because those with
technical knowledge may suggest other solutions that might be better tried
first.
If Brians suggestions don’t help,, or if you want to try this first, do you
have a reversion program such as System Restore or something else
available? Also, is there an event after which the problem started such as
a Windows update or running a registry cleaner or something else, even an
improper shut down?

Subject: [nvda] Problem with installing NVDA - Computer
rebooting Hello all,
My apologies for the long post that will follow, but I am aiming to provide
as much information as possible.
I am using an Intel I9 processor, 32 GB RAM and the motherboard is an Asus
Z390m-Plus. I am also using Windows 10 Version 20H2.
Recently my NVDA when starting would reboot my system. I attempted to
re-install NVDA with no success and the computer would reboot just after the
initial melody and the three rising pitched tones. I attempted to uninstall and
then use a clean install of NVDA with the same result.
Tried to install with the --install-silent flag and with the same
result.
Use CCleaner to go through any registry and no change to the rebooting at
the start of the installation.
Also attempted to install using a different audio card with no
change.
If there are any ideas what I can do to rectify this I would appreciate
suggestions.
thanks and regards
Mark Muscat

Re: Problem with installing NVDA - Computer rebooting
Mark,
First, ditch CCleaner or any registry cleaner or optimizer. They are snake oil at best and can trigger issues precisely like the one you're having, or worse, at worst. I have observed that this problem is not there with NVDA versions before 19.3. I have NVDA 19.2 installed on my machine and I face no such issues. Occasionally I also use a portable copy of the latest NVDA and experience the exact issue described here.
