Luis, I'm glad you made contact with me through email.
Our Spanish work has been suspended for a while now. We are looking for a good reason to resume. Below is a link to a short mp3. It is an example of our initial experiment. It is a European, Madrid-area accent. It should be easy to move to Lat-Am accents. But, I have been told that a cecero accent is helpful to blind Latin-Americans for making clear the spelling of words. https://louderpages.org/imgs/audio/carlos_1.mp3 |

Hi Daniel,
In case you don't hear back from the NVDA team soon, can I ask: Have you looked at the affiliation of the authors of each of those E-speak NG voices? I think for the most part that those authors may be unaware of NVDA's existence. Any phonetic issues are the responsibility of the e-speak maintainers and not, I would suggest, within NVDA's purview. And coming back to RHVoice. Do you prefer robotic voices because they can be played at speed? HTS voices are playable at high speed intelligibly too. - Mark |

Hi Robert, You are looking for the RHVoice NVDA add-on, right? Try this page. https://github.com/RHVoice/RHVoice/blob/master/doc/en/Binaries.md
It also has links to the English voices, which in my opinion are not as good as other languages . The male voice, Alan is best I think, although it is a Scottish, not US accent. We here at Louder Pages collaborate closely with RH Voice and would like to make an improved English voice. But, so many more deserving languages to cover! LOL - Mark |

Hi,
Looking at the link mentioned below however could not find the RH voices addons files for nvda, and for English voice. I appreciate if you could share the direct link instead. Thanks.

NVDA Groups for Speakers of Specific Languages
As has been mentioned recently, although the NVDA Group has no formal restrictions on the posting language, it is a de facto English language group. There are a number of NVDA-centric communities created by native speakers of a number of languages. I cannot say anything beyond that other than that some appear to already have what I'll call a "critical mass" of members and are fairly active, while some others are not.
I have collected to those I could find on Groups.io, and that list follows. -------- NVDA Groups for Specific Language Communities (as of 6/2021) NOTE: All NVDA Groups list their group email addresses on their main pages, and the links to these main pages are below. Good Afternoon: This change makes it easier for the general user. Considering most applications are controlled by a settings label, not options label. You look in Windows, a cell phone or many other applications you will see the word settings, not options. It's more understandable to the general public. Dave

Good Afternoon: If you go to settings in tools and tab through
you will find a button to have Firefox automatically update or you
can tab once more and you have a second option to set firefox let
you manually check for updates. When you said you could not
update I went into Firefox and was able to go right there. It has
been moved out of options and placed in settings. In going
through settings, it's just like options and settings was put in
it's place. I have never let firefox update automatically for
me. Dave

Absolutely will do Mark. Expect an email shortly. However, I'm still interested in what the NVDA team has to say on this regarding their use of eSpeak. No disrespect to your project, but eSpeak is still good, and I don't mind robotic voices, as many blind people will tell you. If a response from them is not forthcoming I may contact them directly.

Just had fire fox update to version 89 no problems and is a 64 bit version. The only thing was at first it gave me options of which I said not now. I can not remember if I had a home page set which put me up near some shortcuts on the browser but then went in and set the home page and all is good. Even without setting the home page if I typed in a web address in the location bar it loaded up the page. It is not my default browser I usually use google or edge etc. Gene nz On 4/06/2021 9:23 am, Dave Grossoehme wrote:

No kidding! Apple is solid and there are no other operating systems like there are with windows. I don’t use it but I do know hey manage to work out their bugs. Windows is windows. They run the same but each computer is different and so is the softwhere.

This is windows. You can't possibly figure out all the software & hardware combinations out there that might possibly cause something to explode. Apple has it far easier in that regard, & they still manage to blow stuff up nonetheless.

Firefox suddenly stopped reading pages.
John Isige
Hi all.
I was reading an article on CNN I think, then I closed Firefox. I opened it again to search for something, and now Firefox won't read any pages, everything says "unknown", e.g. tabbing, and the arrows are silent. I've restarted my machine, restarted NVDA with addons disabled, and neither helped. Edge reads just fine. I'm running the latest Windows update, installed over a week ago so it's not that, latest stable NVDA, 2020.4, and latest Firefox, but though it reads most other things that are part of the browser, e.g. menus and the like, it doesn't want to read the "about Firefox" dialogue, so I don't know what version of that I'm running. I did try checking for updates though and there were none. Did a full scan with Windows Defender and turned up nothing. If anybody has any ideas, I'd really appreciate them. I have no idea why this would happen all of a sudden with nothing having been updated or something obvious like that. |
