Re: [Solved] Problem with Bluetooth clipping words

You know this is interesting on NVDA, sound cards and bluetooth.

I run a I5 4th Gen and a I5 8th Gen with both running onboard realtech audio.have ben for a few years now and never did see any of the problems with sound. i use a lot of bluetooth like Bose headphones, Samsung buds live, viseo sound bar, and SkullCandy headphones.

Nothing not out of the normal of to chaty here and there, but all screen readers do that.

Thank you Gene and Rui. We are trying the ad-on first and so far it seems to be doing what I need. I will read the article when I have a clearer mind. With my memory loss now, I get more tired when it comes to concentration.

Thanks so much.

If you do a search for Silenzio from the top of the page, you will find the brief discussion.  I’m not sure if you have to repeat the search to get from the first mention of it to the discussion.

Thanks to the reply I received as to why the lines are missing some
words when down arrowing through them, it made me try disconnecting my
bluetooth speakers and that made the difference. Is there any way to
work around this problem when using a bluetooth speaker or is it a
connection problem that causes it? Just curious. Thanks.

Hi, Mark.

It has been perhaps over a decade since I had used these voices until your most recent message reminding us that they were still available. I was intrigued and so I downloaded all of them. I personally prefer BDL as it offers very good high frequency response. I hope that you might consider making the voices a bit easier to locate from the Github page as some users might have a difficult time in understanding which addons are needed and how to best find them. Many thanks for making these available.

Daniel, Sorry about the email issue - yes inq@... with an "S".

I meant to say - you could check out RHVoice's Tatar  language to see how it compares with that issue you identified with Espeak-NG.

Meanwhile, if the other readers will indulge me, I would like to show off our latest voice, Kiko.  It will make an appearance with an NVDA and SAPI download in a week or two.

Here are some comparison clips for people who are interested.  Same text, three ways:  E-Speak, Kiko, Kiko double speed.   I hope the E-speak m4a format works for people.  E-speak is so far the only Macedonian TTS available.  Until now.

We don’t know if there is a problem that needs to be solved.  there well may not be.  Sometimes, you hear unknown spoken and everything works properly.  Since nothing is specified, such as a problem using some browsers, the question may be asking why unknown is spoken.  If so, I would say to just ignore it.  If you load a web page, hear unknown spoken, and you can move properly in the page, there isn’t a problem, just a behavior that causes no interference with using NVDA.

Hi, Anthony,

Do you know how to runthe com registration tool? I’ve had to do that whenever I heard “unknown”. You’ll find the com registration tool in the NVDA menu under “tools”.

Hope this helps.

I am not using a headset and the power is not turning off. The cursor seems to just be missing the word at the beginning of a line. thanks for the suggestion, though.

time now, and I think it started happening after the latest update of
NVDA--not the beta one that is being worked on as I have not taken that
one--that when going line by line it misses words at the beginning of a
line. If I do "read all" it does fine but it is only when I am arrowing
down or up in the file. Does anyone have any idea what setting may have
changed? I know sometimes my screen flips direction but that has not
made a difference in the past.

Thanks so much for any ideas you can offer.

Re: Correcting speech pattern

Gene

If you type the letters themselves, such as fl, in the speech dictionary as the pattern, and then the same letters again in the pronounced as field, you will accomplish what you want.

Patrick is absolutely correct that this is a function of the synthesizer(s) in use rather than NVDA itself.  When faced with an unpronounceable sequence like FL10 (F L 1 0) it's got to "take a guess" and since FL is a state abbreviation it makes at least some sense to try "Florida ten."  In the case of NV-Access or NV Access it makes perfect sense to "guess" that NV would be Nevada.

The NV-Access or NV Access case is easy enough as far as a regex match with substitution.  FL10 would not probably require a regex, but that really depends on exactly what it is you're trying to change and how many variants on the pronunciation you need.

Mark,

I posted this here under the assumption that what you said about the authors of eSpeak is correct. However, I wanted to know exactly what NVDA does to eSpeak before packaging it with a release, whether they are in charge of ASCII symbol translation and the like. I will post the question to the development group as Luke suggested. To your point about HTS voices being intelligible at speed, fair enough. I do still think eSpeak is a worthy project. I hope it won't raise too many eyebrows with your group if I end up working on both projects in some capacity.

Speaking of, in your initial message you wrote the email address as "inq@...", without the s. On your website, the s in "Louderpages" is included. I just wanted to make sure which is correct before dropping you a line.

Best,
Daniel

You just have to remove it and re-add the one you want.

In this case I was trying to change the Keyboard Shortcut that toggles the Easy Table Navigator layer that allows you to use arrow keys to move through tables on/off.  I had initially changed it to CTRL+E and quickly realized that I didn't want to keep that.
Once I'm down at the level in the Input Gestures where I'm under Easy Table Navigator, and I'm sitting on the entry that's read, "Level 2, Ctrl+E, (keyboard, all layouts)," what do I hit to open that and change it?  Or is this a circumstance where I must select it, activate the remove button, then add it back again?  I thought you could edit these, but perhaps I'm not remembering correctly.
