Sounds when scrolling up and down
Hi Group,
Although I changed nothing, starting this morning NVDA began making beeping and other kinds of sounds as I scroll up or down or move among buttons and check boxes. -- Where in the menus can I change it to as it used to be? object enhancer addon
Josh Kennedy
Hi I found an object enhancer addon, it needs packaging, updating to python3, and some English translation. Is there anyone on list who could do this? This addon will let you customize objects just like you can with jaws. The link for the addon is:

Hi again:
Sorry, I should have read further before posting the previous message.
At any rate, I have no issues or problems that I can’t handle, as far as I know, and I’ll limit it to that.
Again, thanks to all NVDA developers for giving all of us another great choice.

Welcome to the NVDA Community Add-ons website - Windows Magnifier

Windows Magnifier
This add-on improves the use of Windows Magnifier with NVDA. Features
SettingsThe setting panel of Windows Magnifier add-on allows to configure how NVDA reacts to native Windows Magnifier commands. You may want to have more or less commands reported according to what you are able to see. This panel may be opened choosing Preferences -> Settings in the NVDA menu and then selecting the Windows Magnifier category in the Settings window. The keyboard shortcut NVDA+Windows+O then O also allows to open this settings panel directly. The panel contains the following options:
Commands added by this add-onIn addition to native Magnifier commands, this add-on provide additional commands that allow to control Magnifier's options without opening its configuration page. All the commands added to control Magnifier options are accessible through the Magnifier layer command NVDA+Windows+O:
There is no default direct gesture for each command, but you can attribute one normally in the input gesture dialog if you wish. The same way, You can also modify or delete the Magnifier layer access gesture (NVDA+Windows+O). Yet, you cannot modify the shortcut key of the Magnifier layer sub-commands. Magnifier's native commandsThe result of the following Magnifier native commands may be reported by this add-on, according to its configuration:
Here is also a list of other Magnifier native commands, just for information:
None of the Magnifier native commands can be modified. Notes

Hello all, Add-on Updater 21.07 is now available. As the name suggests, you can use Add-on Updater to update Add-on Updater.
Add-on Updater 21.07 is a major update. When it first appeared in 2018, Add-on Updater was designed to retrieve updates to add-ons hosted on community add-ons website. The mechanism involved downloading add-on update information from community add-ons website through a PHP file, which didn’t really check for NVDA compatibility information. Starting with version 21.07, Add-on Updater will use a much improved secondary source (a JSON file hosting add-on metadata) to check for NVDA compatibility before offering updates to add-ons you are using. The biggest difference is that this secondary source will also let Add-on Updater learn about new add-ons added to community add-ons website whenever they are published, which reduces add-on maintenance burden significantly (some add-on releases were dedicated to registering new add-ons for update checks; now all this will be done via JSON add-on metadata).
Another big change with Add-on Updater 21.07 is that, on Windows 10 and 11 (preview), you will receive a toast notification when add-on updates are available. Previously if add-on updates become available, a dialog may show up. Starting with this release, a toast advising you to open NVDA menu/Tools/Check for add-on updates will be shown when add-on authors release new updates.
Last but not least, sometimes add-on developers declare their add-ons as legacy because add-on features have become part of NVDA or for other reason. Previously if Add-on Updater detected legacy add-ons, a dialog will be shown at startup, but you had to use review cursor commands to read legacy add-ons list. Starting with this release, Add-on Updater will present legacy add-ons in a list view format, letting you review legacy add-on information more easily.
But that’s not all: there will come a time when you will be asked to uninstall Add-on Updater. More on that later. For now, please install Add-on Updater 21.07 (compatible with NVDA 2020.4 and later).
Cheers, Joseph

Re: Translation Capability
Gene
There is a translation add-on. These sorts of features, which aren’t
related to the defined function of a screen-reader are usually found in
add-ons.
The official add-ons page is here:
Add-ons on this page have been inspected, tested, and
approved by NVDA evaluators. There are add-ons from other places and I’m
not saying to use or not to use them, but since add-ons have the ability to do
all sorts of things and can function as malware, you may want to be careful
which unapproved ones you use.
the name of the translation add-on is Instant
Translate.

Hi, Hopefully to clarify more than one question (because I do see this on the mentioned Win10 Forum, which is undergoing a name change process at the moment): I can assure you all that screen reader vendors and Microsoft are aware of user interface oddities. For example, there are UI label issues affecting major screen readers (Narrator included), details of which require explanation of the toolkit used to code UI elements (beyond the scope of this list, I'm afraid). I have published workarounds for NVDA users in the form of Windows App Essentials add-on development builds, but there are other issues to be discovered. Given prevalence of UI issues with current Windows 11 Insider Preview builds (namely how data is exposed to screen readers), I have advised Windows UI team to resolve issues as soon as possible. My advice for Windows 11 discussion: follow Brian's advice. I will do everything I can to make sure screen reader users navigating Windows 11 are not forgotten and treated with respect, provided that I won't collapse due to a combination of graduate school prep anxiety and nightly debugging and debate sessions with Windows Insiders and Microsoft people. I can assure you that NVDA users will receive workarounds through Windows App Essentials add-on in the foreseeable future (this is one of those moments where I might just beg Microsoft to pay for graduate school or give grants to NV Access, but I feel that's too much; that's my feeling regarding current state of UI issues with Windows 11 preview, but I remain hopeful that things can be resolved by end of this year). Also, I said it before but I'm putting in all caps: SUPPORT FOR Windows 11 FROM NVDA IS EXPERIMENTAL AND THINGS CAN CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE, DO NOT USE Windows 11 PREVIEW RELEASE WITHOUT KEEPING BUGS IN MIND! P.S. I know that folks rarely see me write the above in all caps, but please, please, please, remember the above warning. Cheers, Joseph

Re: Translation Capability
Quentin Christensen
NVDA add-ons download and have an ".nvda-addon" extension. With NVDA running, once you launch that file it will prompt to install into NVDA. Alternatively, once you've downloaded it, with NVDA running, press NVDA+n to open the menu, T for tools, then a to launch the add-on manager. From there you can install new add-ons wherever you've downloaded them to. Kind regards Quentin.

Re: Contacting add-on developers where no contact information is provided
Hi, A few months ago there was a discussion about unmaintained add-ons on add-ons list. The consensus is that it is really up to add-on authors to show responsibility, with an option for the community to take care of (maintain) an add-on after waiting on authors for a few months. The fact that one of the add-ons that I haven't maintained for a while just received an update from someone is an example of willingness by the community to keep an eye on unmaintained add-ons. I expect policies about unmaintained add-ons might change in the future (won' t go into details because it is up to nV Access and add-ons community to communicate future activities0. Cheers, Joseph
