Code Factory Voices no longer working?
Clement Chou
Woke up this morning to find Code Factory voices asking me to re-enter
my registration or activate a trial... and when I clicked try just to see what happens it says there was an issue activating my license and to make sure I had a working internet connection. Anyone know what the deal with this is? Also seem to have somehow misplaced my registration info, so need to figure out how to find it. thanks.

Re: Looking for secure FTP client accessible with NVDA
Well I use flashfxp www.flashfxp.com. Its by inicom but its not been updated in ages. There are some querks and such to get about such as some folder views going away after os updates. This can all be fixed by immediately making a backup after you have all settings and stuff set, and saving it to the cloud then restoring the settings part so as long as you have a non corrupted one it will work.

Dennis Clark
Hello Everyone
Can anyone suggest a secure FTP client which works well with NVDA? Filezilla has been suggested by my sighted colleagues but I would prefer getting suggestions from those actually using the software with NVDA. Thanks for your assistance. Dennis

Re: nvda not announcing command description
Gene
Open the objject Presentation dialog, control NVDA key o.
the setting is in that dialog and is controled by a check box.
If you open the dialog in this
way, you are on tooltips without moving. It’s the first field in the
dialog. If you let all information read, you will hear the field
announced.
It may be inconvenient to use
NVDA key control o. You can open the NVDA menu,
down arrow to preferences, press enter, down arrow to object presentation and
tab. You are moving through the same part of the dialog and the first time
you tabb you will be on tool tips.
You may want to see how things
change if you turn tooltips on, but doing so will change nothing as far as how
ribbons are read, nor the information messages you hear as you move about what
various controls do.

Hi,
I think their was a add-on that played sounds for when you got to a radio button, checkbox, or button. I think it was called Object Nav, will it be updated to work with the current NVDA version? Kenny

Welcome to the NVDA Community Add-ons website - Ignore Blanks Indentation Reporting

Ignore Blanks Indentation Reporting
This is an NVDA addon that alters the reporting of indentation by disregarding blank lines when deciding whether to report changes in indentation. It is best understood by contrasting with normal behaviour with an example. Consider this example:
The current behaviour of NVDA is to report indentation changes for any line where the indentation has changed, even if the line is blank. So, the example would be read like:
The disadvantage for this behaviour is that for most programming languages, like python, a blank line has no semantic significance and is just used to visually separate lines of code with no change to the code's meaning. Therefore, by reporting the change of indentation upon entering a blank line and then reporting it again after landing on the next line is just noise that makes it harder to focus on understanding the code. This addon aims to improve on the behaviour by ignoring blank lines when computing indentation speech, thus the example is read like this instead:
Change logversion 0.1

Re: Addon for MP3 Direct Cut

In the main window, tabbing does nothing.
I haven’t used the add-on. For now, you should be able to use a
version that works with the add-on as a portable version.

Re: nvda not announcing command description
Gene
That isn’t what appears to be wanted. The descriptions you are
talking about appear to be things like reply to the sender of a message when you
are on the reply control in a ribbon. These are not the same messages as
in a combo box, for example when JAWS tutor help is on, up and down arrow to
select item.
JAWS also announces tutor help when you use control tab even when tutor
help is off.

As far as I know the settings you are describing are on by default.

Jujube
I'm not 100% sure but you can press NVDA + 2 to toggle the announcing
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
of command keys, for example if you have this setting enabled if you press tab NVDA will announce tab and then whatever control is focused. You can enable the reporting of tooltips in the NVDA settings under review cursor I believe which may solve your other problem but I could be wrong.

Awesome, the filter data should be small enough to stash in a cookie, and there shouldn't be any additional privacy implications as long as all you stash are the serialized values.
Thanks again, this is definitely a useful resource.

I'll look into this, I'm currently not sure on how to do it on a relatively permanent and user-experience and privacy respectful way. Anyway, you can do something like this: https://nvda-addons.org?lasttested=2021.1
