hello to all,
first of all thanks very much for all of yours valuable inputs on my
query. as suggested, i have checked the settings under the object
presentations and found that option for tool tip is already turn on.
the check box for the same is checked by default. also the other
option in this category is also turned on. still no announcements.
earlier NVDA was speaking the said information.
thanks much once again for your help,

Kenny, don't you mean something like audio themes add-on:

That's from the add-ons under development page for it, so, might not be useful as such.

Hello,

Your ears can make your decision for you. If you try both as a demo, you can figure out which you prefer. Then, buy that one.

Further discussion on this topic is closed because Eloquence has been discussed quite a lot on this list, this thread has the potential to turn to illegal add-ons, and how good Eloquence sounds isn't really relevant to NVDA.

Thanks.

Try going into where you'd activate the license; when I had to update my Code Factory license upon updating the addon with 21.1, the edit field where I'd have to type in my license key, was filled already with this info. So I copied and pasted it for safekeeping in a "NotePad" file. Then when it came time (after updating NVDA, and the Code Factory addon), I just copied and pasted the info back into the edit field. Good luck!

Re: Problems With NVDA and Windows10

Hi.

The issue with typing is probably due to the auto spell check functionality. You can turn it off in the pc settings app. Being laggy just in general could be caused by not having enough ram and meanwhile running from a hard drive instead of an ssd. Is that the case for your machine? More than 4gb is a good idea if the system has a standard hard drive. At 4gb it's easy to start needing the pagefile stored on disk to hold data that would otherwise fit on the ram if you had more, and the hard drive activity to handle the pagefile will cause it to be busy and not work well when you need to load programs from it and such.

Windows 10 is not quite as responsive as 7 anyway but it's not all that bad. What are the specs of your computer?

It may be that the server is down.  All Code Factory voices contact the server at intervals, I believe about once a month.  If your Internet is down or their server is down, the voices won’t function because they can’t be verified as registered.  So one person’s voices may work and another person’s may not.

I think this is a very bad system and, with good authorization systems, such as JAWS uses, this ongoing contact with the server is unnecessary.

I would suggest contacting Code Factory before more troubleshooting on your machine.  If their server is working properly, you may have to do something.  If it is down, you may just have to wait until it is up again.

You will get a please register this product or some other message.  I’m nnot sure what you will hear.  Whatever you do to cause speech, arrowing, alt tabbing, anything, that is all you will hear.  However, you can open the synthesizer dialog, the one you open with control NVDA key s and even though you don’t have speech, you can select another synthesizer.  If you want to make sure of how you select the synthesizer you want in your NVDA with whatever choices you have, you can try this while you do have the speech you are currently using.  For example, you might try typing a letter or pressing home, then downarrowing until you get to the synthesizer you want.  To select it, you don’t have to tab, just press enter.  Remember the number of times you down arrow to get to it after you press home.

Maybe also go into task manager and take a look at startup items; see if you can get rid of anything.
Maybe the manufacturer put some bloatware on the system that is messing with it.

Subject: [nvda] Problems With NVDA and Windows10

Hello:
I've come to discover since I upgraded my laptop from windows7 to 10, that the computer has not been responding to commands instantly.
When I launch a program or a website, it takes a very long time for it to start. Even when I am typing it sometimes takes some seconds for the characters to appear.
I don't know if this is a problem with the NVDA screen reader or it is a problem with the operating system windows10.
I don't understand why this is happening. I didn't have this problem at any time with windows7 or even XP.
I suspected at a time that the various security installations were causing the problem, and I disabled windows defender. But this has still not solved the problem.
So, what can I do. Has anyone had this problem before?
Thanking you in advance for your help in this regard.
Ibrahim.

It should.  If it happens to you like it happens to me you'll be unable to do anything at first because a please register message will irritatingly block everything you do, but once you reload NVDA it will use an alternative voice.

Hi,

I wonder if you could haveaccidentally deleted your info with the
license. I don't know what else could be going with your code factory
voices. They're working fine on my system.

Same here. Knock on wood. Can you send them an email asking them to resend your registration info? Good luck.

I use WinSCP. Love that little tool. It can do a lot.

Hello Everyone
Can anyone suggest a secure FTP client which works well with NVDA? Filezilla has been suggested by my sighted colleagues but I would prefer getting suggestions from those actually using the software with NVDA. Thanks for your assistance.
