Yes I see another edit field with the computer code, which seems to automatically be filled in. So do you recommend saving this code too, along with the activation key?

So when this happens, is there no way to deactivate for instance, Activation1, back to the server? Thus you lost Activation one when these server problems happen?

Re: Code Factory Voices no longer working?

Clement Chou

Essentially, that's correct. If your copy was activated and is
suddenly unable to connect to the server, the only options you get
will be to buy it again or try and activate it. You can't retrieve a
license that's on the server because to do anything involving
authorization, the addon has to verify using the server. So it's a
self defeating system, basically.

I’m guessing you all have emailed them and told them about their activation system? And I’m guessing you guys got the cold shoulder? I tried to join their beta team in 2017 for eloquence on android, and they said, we closed the beta team, we are not doing anymore testing and we don’t need you, in so many words. So now I know how they treat us, badly.

It may be that the server is down.  All Code Factory voices contact the server at intervals, I believe about once a month.  If your Internet is down or their server is down, the voices won’t function because they can’t be verified as registered.  So one person’s voices may work and another person’s may not.

I think this is a very bad system and, with good authorization systems, such as JAWS uses, this ongoing contact with the server is unnecessary.

I would suggest contacting Code Factory before more troubleshooting on your machine.  If their server is working properly, you may have to do something.  If it is down, you may just have to wait until it is up again.

Re: Problems With NVDA and Windows10

tim

When you take a box running win7 with no lag at all and then move to win10 it all depends on your computer hardware.

With 4gb of ram your running the minimum for win10 along with a spinning drive expect lag.

With only 4gb ram win10 will take up half that to run. That is why you can still have a slugish computer.

Bring that ram to 16 or better and you don't have to worry about lag.

On this laptop i got 32gb ram, 1tb m.2 drive and its faster then screen reader can handle sometimes. See when I type some words are done so fast you don't hear them for example "I or a' have to back up when really going on keyboard. And I can do 80 to 100 words when pressed.

On 8/10/2021 11:10 PM, valiant8086 wrote:
Hi.

The issue with typing is probably due to the auto spell check functionality. You can turn it off in the pc settings app. Being laggy just in general could be caused by not having enough ram and meanwhile running from a hard drive instead of an ssd. Is that the case for your machine? More than 4gb is a good idea if the system has a standard hard drive. At 4gb it's easy to start needing the pagefile stored on disk to hold data that would otherwise fit on the ram if you had more, and the hard drive activity to handle the pagefile will cause it to be busy and not work well when you need to load programs from it and such.

Windows 10 is not quite as responsive as 7 anyway but it's not all that bad. What are the specs of your computer?

I have always kept things backed up but you can ask atguys for your download info and keys again.

Not sure about the service because it still shows as active here but that doesn't mean anything it simply means the software didn't have an issue when it phoned home yet.

hello to all,
first of all thanks very much for all of yours valuable inputs on my
query. as suggested, i have checked the settings under the object
presentations and found that option for tool tip is already turn on.
the check box for the same is checked by default. also the other
option in this category is also turned on. still no announcements.
earlier NVDA was speaking the said information.
thanks much once again for your help,
Mukesh

hello,
I am using NVDA 2021 with window 10 on my laptop. I am facing the
difficulties when I use any command NVDA not announcing any command
description associated with it. say for instance, if i press
insert+tab to check any focussed item, it only announces the name of
the focus item but its not announcing the command description or help
tip associated with it. for example, it should say that to move to
item press the arrow keys to edit the item press f2. the same thing
is happening in Microsoft w
ord, whenever i am bringing my focus on any ribbons, its only
announcing the focused ribbon, but its not announcing the command
description like to move between the ribbons press the left or right
arrow keys to navigate in the ribbon press the tab or shift+tab keys.
NVDA used to announce the same in the earlier version. so is this
feature is missing in the latest version of NVDA or do i have to make
any seetings to make it announce?
thanks,
Mukesh

Kenny, don't you mean something like audio themes add-on:

https://addons.nvda-project.org/addons/AudioThemes.en.html <https://addons.nvda-project.org/addons/AudioThemes.en.html>

That's from the add-ons under development page for it, so, might not be useful as such.

Hi,

I think their was a add-on that played sounds for when you got to a radio button, checkbox, or button. I think it was called Object Nav, will it be updated to work with the current NVDA version?

Filezilla has been suggested by my sighted colleagues but I would
prefer getting suggestions from those actually using the software with
NVDA. Thanks for your assistance.

Hello,

Your ears can make your decision for you. If you try both as a demo, you can figure out which you prefer. Then, buy that one.

Further discussion on this topic is closed because Eloquence has been discussed quite a lot on this list, this thread has the potential to turn to illegal add-ons, and how good Eloquence sounds isn't really relevant to NVDA.

Thanks.

Dear listers,

I’m using NVDA on a regular basis but I couldn’t switch full time to Nvda because I didn’t decide about the speech synthesizer yet. The windows sapi voices I don’t like it and also I don’t like the e-speak voice that comes with nvda, so my question is:

I am very happy with the eloquence speech that Jaws 2021 using, now can someone give me solid indication which version of eloquence isnear 100% the same as the jaws2021 eloquence, I know that there are two versions available from Codefactory the plugin eloquence and the Sapi version but when I tried them both my ears wasn’t sure which is the best eloquence and at the moment I’m very budget conscious before I spend money.

Thank you and looking forward for some useful feedback.

Re: Code Factory Voices no longer working?

Gerardo Corripio

Try going into where you'd activate the license; when I had to update my Code Factory license upon updating the addon with 21.1, the edit field where I'd have to type in my license key, was filled already with this info. So I copied and pasted it for safekeeping in a "NotePad" file. Then when it came time (after updating NVDA, and the Code Factory addon), I just copied and pasted the info back into the edit field. Good luck!

Re: Problems With NVDA and Windows10

What are the specs of your computer?

the characters to appear.
I don't know if this is a problem with the NVDA screen reader or it is
a problem with the operating system windows10.
I don't understand why this is happening. I didn't have this problem
at any time with windows7 or even XP.
I suspected at a time that the various security installations were
causing the problem, and I disabled windows defender. But this has
still not solved the problem.
So, what can I do. Has anyone had this problem before?
Thanking you in advance for your help in this regard.
