Re: Issues with number presentation and beeps

If you don’t mind using another synthesizer when you are listening to text
containing a lot of large numbers, the easiest thing to do would be to use a
different synthesizer for that time.
Eloquence doesn’t insert and. I don’t know what other synthesizers
don’t

That may not be the case according to a very little bit of experimentation I’ve
done. You may have to use the speech dictionary in the synthesizer
itself.

Re: Issues with number presentation and beeps

There is no NVDA setting to do this. If it can be done, it is a
windows setting related to sounds being played through the soundcard you
like. These NVDA sounds are wave files and I don’t know if you can tell
windows to play wave sounds through a specific device. And that would
affect things such as wave files in general, if you listen to audio in the form
of wave files such as music you have digitized in the wave format and you will
hear Windows sounds through the same place as your synthesizer.

there another setting regarding NVDA sounds such as the beeps for progress or forms mode? They stayed in the Windows audio instead of my other headphones when I changed the output location of the synthesizer. Is there a place to set how numbers are spoken, such as getting the "and" out of the speech? Cannot find these in settings. Re: regarding adding my voice as an variant of nvda
Quentin Christensen
My understanding was that you wanted to make a synthesizer or voice which made NVDA sound like you - but I have no experience with that so couldn't directly help :) Some of the more human-sounding synthesizers, I believe are based off recordings of someone, but I think there is a LOT of processing which goes into turning them into a synthesizer. I have no idea on the process and expect it would be a lot of work. I did find this from Acapela: https://www.acapela-group.com/solutions/my-own-voice/ It's apparently a service where you record a set of 50 phrases they give you, and create a TTS from it. It looks like you can create it and try it out for free, but in order to actually use it you will need to pay. I couldn't readily see how much it costs. Quentin.

Re: NVDA 2021.2 is now available
Quentin Christensen
Re weird things not working after updating NVDA - a lot of suggestions on reinstalling or how to get back to the previous version, but just to try the most important and easiest first step first - make sure you have restarted the PC after updating to first test whether THAT fixes any of these issues. Also, I'm not sure what has happened here, but we've just put a bit of work into improving the COM Registration fixing tool and that can fix up some of these quirks caused by needed DLL files inadvertently being unregistered (More on that in today's In-Process, once I get to uploading it).

NVDA+R have the inconvenient of only reading what is on the screen. I am developing an add-on to recognize image files like FineReader does... It is based on NAPS, wich is based on Tesseract OCR. It is working for Windows 10 64-bit. If you want to test, it is available at: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7403kwrr0uicmt7/NAPS2tesseractOCR_1.0_Gen.nvda-addon?dl=1 Any comments and suggestions are welcome to rui.fontes@tiflotecnia.com Best regards, Rui Fontes NVDA portuguese team Às 23:20 de 16/09/2021, Dave Grossoehme escreveu:

Re: Windows tool or NVDA command to convert a image in to text
I very seldom have used NVDA to invoke Windows 10 OCR, particularly for a PDF file open in Adobe.
I prefer to use a third party OCR option. See: Free & Good OCR Software for Image Scanned PDFs -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H1, Build 19043 Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity. ~Martin Luther King, Jr.
