Hi All.

Is it possible to choose the audio NVDA synthesizer speech destination when we are using a Bluetooth Speaker?

example

When I'm listening music on a Bluetooth device speaker, I'd like to listen to NVDA synthesizer speech audio in my ultrabook speaker, not Bluetooth Speaker.
This way I can continue to work on my ultrabook and listen music on the bluetooth device Speaker
This is possible, or there is some addon for this function .
I've tried several ways but without success.
thank you.
cheers.

Re: Emoji saying 12 in outlook not saying the name

Quentin Christensen

Outlook essentially treats emails like Word documents, so yes that setting applies to both Word and to emails in Outlook.

I'm not sure which version of Office she has, I think for newer builds, using UIA fixes a number of issues we can't otherwise address and will soon be the default.

Kind regards

Quentin.

1. Press NVDA+control+g to open options
2. Press CONTROL+SHIFT+TAB to the "Advanced" category.
3. Press spacebar to acknowledge the "I understand...." warning.
4. Press TAB until the focus is on "Use UI Automation to access Microsoft Word Document Controls".
5. Press SPACEBAR to check this.

Now emoji's should be read correctly.

So the example would be I saw a emoji police car today and a fire emoji engine down the street.

The word emoji is not spoken out but it was more to let you know it was in the email.

Those settings were checked you gave. I have told her what to do about setting to debug level recreating the problem in the program and sending me back the log so I can do a ticket.

She said when some one sends her a email with emojis in it they are spoken out correctly but not in the part where you type stuff inserting a emoji then reading back the email to send it that is where the problem is. She does not have a braille display she is hearing it.

But, weirdly, when I select them and read back over that spot it just
says 12 where each one is.  Then if I send the e-mail and someone
replies I can read them if I scroll down to my original e-mail.  Emojis
from other people are reading fine.

Is this a setting I need to change in NVDA or is it something to do with
my rather outdated 2013 version of outlook.  And can I set NVDA to say
emoji when it reads one so I know it isn’t part of the text if it is a
bit random.
_._,_._,_

So it seems she can read emojis in a email but not after it has been
inserted into her email that she types up.

Any ideas?

Funny, I'm not but I think I have that option off. I don't ever remember turning it off though, unless I did it in auto pilot.

Running the latest released version of NVDA on a Win 10 system Something has changed after the update to the latest version of NVDA or maybe the update of a addon.
On a web page if I get to a edit box to enter some data NVDA first announces form. Where do you turn this off?
Thanks

Hey everyone

Totally individual preference regarding whether you find the landmark announcement useful or not. But I thought it might be worth mentioning that you can navigate by landmarks on a webpage by pressing D (for Delta) for those who don't know. If a website developer has used them properly, it can often be a really efficient way to move through content and you might want to know they exist.

All the best.

Ben

Hi David,

I went to the document format under settings and unchecked the blox to announce forms and regions....
Like yourself, it was not checked by me to start; it just started a while ago.
Definitely mutant electrons.

Hello,

I am also seeing this behavior. I have not changed any settings between my previous NVDA version and my current one.

Thanks.

I checked and the setting is on by default in recent versions. I
don’t know how far back this setting has existed. Since you didn’t
hear form and out of form announced, at some point, you turned the
setting off. If it should be retained by the updater and isn’t, this
bug should be corrected. This setting also announces landmarks and I
wouldn’t be surprised if you wanted to avoid that verbosity as well.
