Re: Downloading from Vocalizer Tiflotecnia and Automatic Language change
Rui Fontes
Hello!
1 - Here is the text explaining how to procede... To install the driver and the desired voices, perform the
following steps: 2 - But, pay atention that is the old version and that one only switch languages by indication of NVDA!
3 - The version available at https://vocalizer-nvda.com can also switch language based in the group of Unicode characters present... So, even if the web page do not identify the language, if the text is writen with greek characters, Vocalizer will switch to greek if the voice is installed.
The download page is at: https://vocalizer-nvda.com/downloads unfortunately, now is only in portuguese...

I went back two versions and less than is spoken using some punctuation and
so is greater than. Do you know how to change the level if you don’t want
them spoken at that level?

Re: must have NVDA add-ons
Shaun,
Your post is the perfect example of what I said earlier, and that is, what's a "must have" is very often entirely dependent on what you need to do, where, and with what computer(s). It's still good to see what various folks are using, with brief descriptions of why. -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H1, Build 19043 Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity. ~Martin Luther King, Jr.

Re: Downloading from Vocalizer Tiflotecnia and Automatic Language change

The download ;page, near the top, describes how to install the synthesizer
add-on and the voices. They are all installed as add-ons according to the
page. Where you save them doesn’t matter, just as it doesn’t matter where
you ssave and store any exe files or add-ons you want to run.
While I expect you are on the correct page, here is the link to avoid
any possible confusion:
The instructions begin a few lines from the top of the
page.

Subject: [nvda] Downloading from Vocalizer Tiflotecnia and Automatic
Language change Hi
Group, I have two questions and I would appreciate your comments. 1. As it is said that Vocalizer Tiflotecnia for NVDA has automatic language change I tried to download voices that I need, but I am not sure where to save them when it gives me the option to open or save. 1. eSpeak sometimes performs automatic language change but incorectly. For instance when I have Turkish text it reads it as Spanish. Also when I read Greek text on a website it reads the letters one at a time, but not as words or sentences. When I copy the text and paste it into a Word document it reads it as it should. Re: must have NVDA add-ons
Well Firstly addon updater. Thats needed for the addons. The windows essentials is also good to. Next is the addons documentation if you need easy access to it. I also have addon unpacker but thats just so I can make my own for my own use if I need to modify things. I have interactive fiction interpretors which is only good if you play text games.
calibre, goldwave, etc. Dropbox, easy table, again most of these probably are not needed. The emoticons may be need as well as report simbols but depends. Golden curser maybe. zoom, vlc, skype, teamtalk. timezoner and toolbars explorer. Out of those, I could slim that down to vlc, winamp, zoom, windows app essentials etc. On systems I don't use bar for admin addon updater, and windows essentials, report symbols and emoticons are all I have.

Re: NVDA launches itself after UAC is dismissed, even if it wasn't running before that
Petr Řehák
Hello,
I believe that this stems from NVDA being launched via the Ease Of Access feature of Windows. When you uncheck NVDA there and still let it start on and after the logon screen this should no longer happen. You can get there by entering „control /name Microsoft.EaseOfAccessCenter“ into the Run dialog box or by going to the Control Panel of Windows (run „control“) and searching for „Ease Of Access“ in your language there. Then navigate to something like „Use your computer without a screen“ and then Tab until you reach the NVDA check box in this section.
Best regards,

Hello all, Before eventually filing a ticket, I want to share my problem here. Maybe someone else has also encountered this previously and a solution is already available. These days I had to reinstall my computer and all of its programs due to an SSD failure. I usually use an installed alpha version of NVDA as my daily driver. This time however, I did not had an installer for the latest alpha snapshot and initially I installed v2021.2 and then upgraded to the latest alpha snapshot via its manually downloaded install package. Today I've noticed a peculiar behavior of NVDA, which did not occur before the reinstall. And that is: if NVDA is not running and an UAC prompt appears on the screen, after the "Yes" or "No" button is activated, NVDA will launch itself. This should not happen, but it does. Does anyone know why is this happening and is there a solution to this problem? My copy of NVDA is configured to run after I log on and on UAC and other secure screens. The problem occurs even without any add-ons. I even tried removing the "nvda.ini" file from both the "AppData\Roaming\NVDA" and "Program Files (x86)\NVDA\systemConfig" directories (the file is the same), but that did not help. In "Program Files (x86)\NVDA\systemConfig\addons", there are no add-ons. Test environment:
Thanks in advance! ______

Hi Quentin
I got the following back from her last night and have asked her to try it in the next few days. It sounds like it done the trick.
Her reply is below.
Wahoo Gene you are a miracle worker!
Well, have done that, so let’s test it.
I am thinking this one is done in outlook?
Should I still get her other info or just leave it as it sounds like the problem is fixed I will know more in the next few days.

Re: must have NVDA add-ons
Not that I don't think the discussion of various add-ons, and why people like and use them isn't a great one to have, but "must have" is entirely subjective. There are tons of add-ons that are specific to environments that many of us will never operate in/under. Those can be must-have for those who do, but completely irrelevant for those that don't.
This being said, discussion of any and all NVDA Add-Ons is on-topic and pertinent to the group. -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H1, Build 19043 Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity. ~Martin Luther King, Jr.

Hi, I don't think there's such a thing as must have addons as adons are meant to customize things to your own liking, which is a really indiviual thing. I think TextNav is often quite useful for reading web content so you can skip straight to the paragraphs etc. Some people really love Golden Cursor for navigating with the mouse, ObjPad can make object nav easier but it's not critical, many use Windows App Essentials especially if you use Windows universal apps a lot, and place markers can sometimes be useful.

I too have noticed this behavior for several years but it never bothered me enough to consider asking about it. I’m glad somebody else did! Sounds like the fix is just a checkbox away. Thanks for bringing up the question and thanks Quentin for the answer.
