It doesn’t matter if it crashes on exit, it won’t hurt anything but that is what’s happening.
If you want to restart the program, trying to shut it down if it isn’t working properly, use the command to run the program, control alt n. That tries to close the program if it isn’t working properly and perhaps has partly crashed, and it will then restart the program if it can. But NVDA q is the unload command and isn’t supposed to restart the program.

If NVDA started by itself after NVDA key q, that’s because the program
wasn’t shutting down properly. It was crashing on exit and it was
restarting because it is supposed to restart if it can after a crash.

Who knows, however who knows, Its more likely a lot of certs got updated at once, I just got updates to chrome, edge, windows, and a bunch of other things all of a sudden. So could simply be that a lot of stuff suddenly needed renewing but whho knows we may never know.

Update check and the addon update seem to work again but it did this yesterday so we will see tomorrow. It could simply be that certs were updated but its that propergation deal with the dns that would make sence maybe. But who knows. Its almost like it stops then works again who knows.

Well the update mysteriously fixed itself but who knows how long that will stay. I did install the latest windows cu but things were still broken after that, so who knows if it will not break again tomorrow. Something could be doing something remotely, I will respond tomorrow if its broken yet again.

I don’t know how the add-on determines if the site has proper
certification. I would think others could discuss that. It may be
that the add-on can’t determine the site is certified. The first
discussion today was about the update add-on and that was what I mainly intended
to comment on, though I did comment on browsers in my last message.

Hi, I just did a clean install of NVDA to update to the latest version because going to help menu and checking for error brought up an error message... anyhow, my question is, is there an add-on like the numpad nav that is compatible with the newest version of NVDA?
I use the home, end, page up and down keys on the numpad a lot and need this add-on... Would be nice if there was this option to switch the use of the numpad built in to NVDA. Thank you for any help on this.

Hey folks. Has anyone successfully placed an order with Book Depository? I was pretty happy with the way things were going, until the very last moment. Everything seems to be fine from an accessibility standpoint, except for the combo boxes where you’re supposed to select your credit card expiry date. It’s like there’s no text in the boxes at all when they expand. I’m not sure if there’s a changing image or what, but NVDA (latest) acts as if they are empty no matter how I arrow around in them. I’ve tried this with both latest Chrome and Firefox. I’ve also tried an older version of JAWS (2018) and, needless to say really, that didn’t work either/had the same result. I’ve already contacted them about this problem, but I wanted to send these books off as a gift to a friend in the next few days, so any further information I can give them at this point might be helpful. Anyone know what is up with these particular combo boxes?

Your assumption, though it appears logical, isn’t correct. Firefox
doesn’t rely on Windows for certification. It has its own certifications,
or whatever the correct term is.
Chrome browsers and browsers in general rely on Windows for
certification. I don’t know if you are using Windows 10 if version matters
nor do I know if whether your updates are current matters. But without
more information about what people are using, generalizations can’t be
made.

I can access nvda-project.org, nvaccess.org and the nvaccess.com redirect just fine at least via the web. I can download from both manually. Just did an ipconfig/flushdns and I got back in. So yeah who knows nvda updaters continue to refuse to work so if its a error on my end I should have had other things going on.
