There is an issue for skipping blank lines in browse mode: https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues/4904

As I noted in a comment to that issue: The main workaround I would suggest is to use say all (NVDA+down arrow or NVDA+a) to read things like messages in Outlook, which will skip blank lines. Another setting which can help particularly in Outlook is to supress reporting of tables. Press NVDA+control+d to open the document formatting settings, then alt+t until you get to "tables", uncheck that, and NVDA should read emails in Outlook a bit smoother.

Otherwise, if you can add anything else regarding use cases or implementation not already covered in the previous comments on that issue, do please comment on the issue itself.

Hello,

rather forcing blank to be changed in pronunciation using a regular expression dictionary entry might be useful.

^ is the beginning of line in regular expressions.

$ is the end of line in regular expressions.

* in regular expressions means 0 or more of the previous character or pattern 

So: 

^ *$ 

should match a line with just spaces in it.  ( note there is a space between the ^ and the * , also note you might want to turn on all punctuation to read my descriptions above, I can't be sure on this computer how much of NVDA reads of the above special characters.

I'm just getting started using NVDA at home and at work. Many thanks for testing. I tried it after reading your message and am stuck at the sine up link. I can activate it without problems in chrome but then I have selected e-mail and am being asked for some kind of code. A most confusing site.

Hey P, this site is a real b-word, & that is the polite & edited version. So I was able to do it in Chrome--firefox was pretty useless w/it.

On entry, you're displayed an offer of the day, which you have to click. Firefox didn't show it as that, ie, I think it's displayed as an overlay.

Once you do that, click the login link, then go into forms mode by pressing NVDA+spacebar.

Enabling object navigation, you'll find that it's asking for your email/mobile.

Definitively not designed w/the blind in mind.

enter on the link, did you go to the top of the page and use the e
command to move through the page looking for an edit field that may
have come up in a different place on the page for logging in?

If this particular spreadsheet is not private, I'd suggest sharing it.  It is as close to impossible as it can be to answer this sort of question unless the issue is common, and you're the first person I know of who's hit this particular issue.

Having the "problem spreadsheet" makes it easier to figure out.

When I checked for both add-on and NVDA updates, I got a message that none were available.  I’m using NVDA 2021.2.  I realized that I’d replied to the wrong thread last night when I indicated that I’d applied the python fix and installed the new add-on updater.  I don’t know if I was actually impacted in the way that some others were because I never received an error message, just the standard one saying that there were no updates.

That site's login process is, for all practical intents and purposes, inaccessible.  I do not believe you're having any issue activating the link, per se, but with all else that comes after.

The login link itself triggers a java script which causes what looks like a standard login overlay window to appear.  I did not try object navigation, but when doing the usual tabbing around I never even land in the edit box where you'd enter your login id, and all the other buttons and links as well as the X button to dismiss the window are unlabeled and just say, "blank."

This should be taken up with the site owner.

I don’t often rely on that as sometimes when you tab away the edit fields can and may disappear. What browser are you using btw.

When I was on the link, I opened the context menu in the browser and pressed enter on copy.  Your browser may say something different in the menu like copy location or copy link.  That copied the link to the clipboard.  When I read what was there, it just said JAVA script.  Since you aren’t blocking scripts, finding out what is occurring on the page may require sighted evaluation.  However, after you pressed enter on the link, did you go to the top of the page and use the e command to move through the page looking for an edit field that may have come up in a different place on the page for logging in?

The website has been zipped you will need a program to unzip it. You can also do it with windows explorer but may be better to make a folder then put the files into it that is easy to find. Then it is a matter of just going to the index file with in the folder and pressing the enter key on it and use it like normal. As long as people have internet access they should be able to access audio files  etc.

 

There may be another tutorial been added on later this week so will update the link to the drop box account then.

The people we host with were alerted when i first noticed it and it has to be fixed on there end. I do not know when it will be back up but hopefully it is ASAP.

 

I guess this is maybe what you get some times when you host with a free provider? with no adds and only have to pay for the domain name.

 

It sounds pretty serious like the server hard drive took a dive?

 

If any one wants to access the material on it at present I can zip it up and drop box it until it comes back on line.

This will only be the website files not the audio files as every one has access to the internet mostly.

 

You will then need to unzip it and put it into a folder with the files. Then it is a matter of just accessing the index file for the website.

 

I might again even look at other options for hosting.
