Brian's message is probably the cause of the problem. I thought it was the expired certificate but that isn't likely. I thought that was what you were describing when you said you couldn't download.

Disregard my first message. it is probably wrong. I evidently
made an error when I was experimenting.
What I said is correct that browsers generally seem to add an s where
needed. But you probably have to work with the verification message before
you can download.
Do the following.
When the message comes up, go to the bottom of the screen, control
end. You will be on an advanced button.
Activate it with the space bar.
Then once again go to the bottom of the screen. You will be on a
proceed to the name of the site button. You will hear that it is
unsafe. it is safe in this case.
Activate it with the space bar.
You should now be taken to the direct download, the link you followed is a
direct download link. Download the file as you usually do.
As I said in my other message, you are evidently seeing the message because
of a root verification certificate that expired recently.
GeneI just tried this with two browsers. I’m not sure about one since
I tried working with the verification message and then trying again with the
browser. But in the browser where I did notbhing, no download
occurred.
-----Original Message-----
The problem isn’t caused by there being no s at the end of http.
Browsers hgenerally seem to automatically add the s if it is needed these
days. The problem appears to be the root certificate that expired
recently. You are evidently getting a message that the site can’t be
verified. Ordinarily, you have to tell the browser to go to the site and
the browser may tell you it is unsafe but will go there. On some sites, it
won’t. In this case, you don’t have to do anything. This is a direct
download link and in the browser you are using, try downloading the file as
usual. You may need to do nothing but the usual download procedure, even
if you see the unverified warning. If it doesn’t work, I’ll describe how
to work with the unverified warning. If you just do nothing after
following a direct download link, do that. If you open the download folder
and use save as on that page, do that.

The standard advice to "try another browser" should always be the first thing to try on a blocked download provided it's not your own antivirus/security suite is not the one blocking it. SmartScreen is separate from Windows Defender or third party antivirus/security. Sometimes you have to try tow other browsers. Re: Goldwave NVDA question
Hi Charles, Hmmm, what do you mean by "latest of everything"? Can you elaborate further please? P.S. I can guess what "latest of everything" means, but I'm intentionally doing it this way because of two reasons: please prove me wrong (I'm thinking NVDA 2021.2, GoldWave 6.57, and GoldWave add-on 21.10), and this is an educational moment on communicating details to someone who might be able to resolve this and/or pass on important info to someone else. I know what I asked above may come across as not quite user-friendly, but believe me when I advise people that details do matter; unless you are the user and/or the developer can make correct guesses, I think just saying "latest of everything" can hinder community investigations. Also apologies for possibly offending someone with this approach. Cheers, Joseph

You can see an example of this in the Pontes media downloader v 3.1 in the help section under shortcut keys.

Hi Josh,
Thank you for specifying the version number of Acapela for NVDA which you experience difficulty with. The version number was not evident in your original thread. I agree with you about importance of testing and using Acapela for NVDA before making a purchasing decision. I trialed the product myself several years ago prior to buying. I can confirm that the calibri voices Acapela NVDA add-on is not currently compatible with NVDA 2021.2. But, during the trial period you can download and use the HQ (high-quality) Acapela voices. I would suggest downloading/installing HQ Rod for your first voice test, which I presently have installed as my Acapela for NVDA voice. To my knowledge, people trialing the product and/or who have purchased a premium Acapela for NVDA license can use as many high-quality voices as they desire. If you or any one else chooses to buy, I recommend buying the premium license and not the basic one. With a basic license, you can only use Acapela for NVDA calibri voices. Premium purchase allows use of both calibri and HQ voices just like during trial period. Whether one chooses to buy any product or not is of course an individual decision. Blake

You have either downloaded the wrong version of the addon or your version of NVDA is incompatible
I would go back to the download page of the acapela and download the correct version for your version of NVDA

Hi
The acapela voices 1.7 addon is not working with nvda 2021.2. I have 14 days left in the trial. I installed the engine and the Calibri voices. When I choose acapela I get no speech and have to restart NVDA. And when you try to install voices from the addon itself it wants you to download 1.6 addon version which is not compatible with 2021.2. I contacted acapela but got no response. If these voices won’t work I guess I can’t buy them and it says I have 14 days left in my trial so they should be working.

John Isige
1. Go to:
2. Follow the instructions, and get to:
http://www.acapela-nvda.com/get-your-download-here-v1-7/
3. Download the engine. I saved it.
4. Download the addon with all of the calibri voices or whatever they're called. Again, I saved it.
5. Go to where you saved them. Click on the addon for the engine. Tell it to install. Say no when it asks you to restart.
6. Then click on the addon with all of the voices. Again, say yes you want to install it. This time, restart.
7. Hit NVDA-ctrl-s, pick a capela as your synth.
For me, this talks just fine. I don't know that I'd buy them, because I've never been a huge fan of their voices and there's no rate boost that I can see, which means even at a hundred percent, it's slower than the rate I usually read at. But I am absolutely running NVDA 2021.2, I just checked, Windows 10 21H1 with latest updates, and it's working just fine. I didn't even get anything about picking a trial license or whatever, I just did the above steps, and it's working, for how long, I have no idea, not that it matters because I'm going to uninstall it all after I'm done writing this message anyway. I think I did briefly do a trial a few years ago, so maybe it's just picking up on that, although I don't know if I did it on this machine or not. Anyway, working just fine here.

Hi folks, imagine I’ve got a webpage open and there is information on it that is visually laid out like a table but is not traversable as a table using NVDA. I am on a column heading and I want to move focus directly below it to the first cellof that column. In iOS, there’s a rotor option called “vertical navigation” that allows me to do this easily. Is there any such functionality in NVDA? Unfortunately, the only way I’v found to get to that cell is to press control + down arrow repeatedly, traveling through all The other column headings first, making it sometimes impossible to know when I’ve actually arrived at the first item under that original column heading. I hope the description of the problem makes sense. Thank you for any tips or strategies. Luke

dennis huckle <denniswhuckle@...>
Hello Jean, Looking at the latest add on for goldwave it mentions in the help file that this add on works better with goldwave 657. Also the latest version of nvda must be used due to changes. This apparently stops announcements of file name in play, rewind and fast forward. Kind regards, Dennis huckle.

Hello,

Essentially, what you want to be able to happen is to have NVDA check the dimensions of the current object and then move in one of the ordinal directions until a new object is discovered beyond the current objet. I could see this being a slightly modified object removed type method. For example oif current object upper left corner is x=40, y=60 and its size is 60x40 Pressing down arrow Should look for an object near x=40, y=100 Jonathan
