Re: NVDA and Email Images

Sometimes NVDA’s OCR works on images, sometimes I have to go to the full size page on Facebook, sometimes Facebook’s own OCR puts the text on there, but sometimes neither of those works and I have to turn my monitor on and use Seeing AI on my Iphone to read it. When all else fails, that one works. Shawn Klein

I wasn't suggesting using NVDA+r to read captchas, indeed my other comment was that we CAN'T build a feature which will reliably do that - for the very reason that if we could, so could the people (or bots) the captchas are designed to stop in the first place. My suggestion for NVDA+r was in the case of someone's contact details being provided in an image - at least that was my understanding but maybe the question was simply how to get past the captcha to get to the contact details, in which case no, NVDA+r won't work there.

Hi, Regarding Windows 11 File explorer issue: is this also happening with 2021.2? If so, it is something Microsoft may need to backport to Windows 11 build 22000 sooner than later. Cheers, Joseph

I’ll check that out if it’s true.
Usually it is not a nice experience reading Emails with NVDA, because of table layout things, but the new UIA thing to remove some of these tables may help.

Hi,
It’s only a shame that NVDA doesn’t auto read messages when you go into an Outlook message. This would be a nice touch.
JAWS has a setting for this.

NVDA 2021.3 Beta 1 now available
Quentin Christensen
Hi everyone, Beta1 of NVDA 2021.3 is now available for download and testing. For anyone who is interested in trying out what the next version of NVDA has to offer before it is officially released, we welcome you to download the beta and provide feedback. This release introduces support for the new HID Braille specification. This specification aims to standardize support for Braille Displays without needing individual drivers. There are updates to eSpeak-NG and LibLouis, including new Russian and Tshivenda tables. Error sounds can be enabled in stable builds of NVDA via a new advanced settings option. Say all in Word now scrolls the view to keep the current position visible. There are lots of improvements when using Office with UIA. One UIA fix is that Outlook now ignores more types of layout tables in messages. Re: Verbosity Settings

And one more - if you want to customise when individual symbols are pronounced, press NVDA+n, to open the NVDA menu, then p for preferences, then "Punctuation/Symbol pronunciation". There you can set the level any given symbol should be read at, and how it is pronounced". There's a bit more detail on using that in this recently blog post: https://www.nvaccess.org/post/in-process-30th-april-2021/#SymbolPronunciation Kind regards Quentin.

Its control NVDA g. You are using caps lock as an NVDA key but a lot
of people would use either insert.

Hi Danny, if too many symbols are being spoken, just press NVDA+P to set your punctuation/symbol level to either some or none. Hope this helps.

I've tried opening www.nvaccess.org in Internet explorer, but to no avail. It says: This page can't be displayed. As for taking a look at the log, I have not done it, but due to the fact that I've just read Joseph's message directed to you and to all of us, I think that his explanation of the situation is much better than mine. Cheers, Dejan

Hi, Right. Also, a bit on Firefox: the original poster used Firefox because Mozilla has its own root certificate whereas NV Access uses Letsencrypt. Cheers, Joseph
