Hmm, how long is a piece of string. Can you run a portable version with it and does that speak?
I'm just trying to find out if maybe its set in the .ini file to a synth you do not have and hence nothing works.
To be honest, xp seems more reliable in this context as if you have phones working via usb in other versions of windows, it quite possible to get some sounds through one sound crd and some via the phones, but xp only has the one choice, the current output. If you get system sounds and no speech its got to be that its either set to no speech or a synth which is not working any more. remember that old hacked versions of eloquence have been stopped from working as apart from being illegal they can cause crashes.

Hello All,

I have had to resort to the MInite web site to install NVDA 2016.3 on my
XP computer.

The only problem is that I have no speech.

I have speech with Narrator.

So what could be the problem.

Well, its only on exit from nvda so maybe you have not noticed. You need to

rrun a snapshot to hear the sound.

As its exiting, a slight delay in doing so is probably not going to be an
issue.

I have the Systray add on installed on two machines running XP and NVDA. It

produces no unanticipated or undesired effects. As I've said before, you
can't generalize from one person's experience on one or perhaps two machines

You can only say that they are present in your experience as a single user

The message may simply be flyout. Flyout is a term used to indicate some sort of problem or problems. I don't have the technical knowledge to describe it further. Try opening the item in all possible ways. That is, using the single left click, double left click, and right click options. See if it opens correctly with any of them.

My network connection in Windows 7 only opens correctly if I use the left single click option when in the systray dialog.

Using latest nvda, and the user promoted section, otherwise known as the sys
tray has a message to review for a possible problem. when this is opened it
says action centre fly out. However none of the options normally on there as
far as nvda is concerned can provide access to the message itself.

On using nvda/B there are other messages on the screen but no way to access
them, and the screen will continuously repeat over and over until its
stopped which suggests to me that its not working correctly, as normally
nvda would in fact stop at the bottom.
Any ideas on how to see this elusive message which windows obviously wishes
to hide from me?

Hi,

do you run several soundcards in your computer? Soundcards also mean i. e. USB headsets, Bluetooth dongles that provides audio, a second, third physicdal soundcard etc.?
So probably NVDA uses a quiet soundcard.
I only run NVDA in German language so I can't tell you the right terms of the menues. In the main settings, open the first one (settings?), and than the second menue (Speech?) and tab for the list of available sound output. With cursor up/down you can change the soundcard your voice speaks through.

Yours sincerely

Hi all,

My question is regarding the NVDA remote access.Last week I install the NVDA remote on my work computer to be able to access from home and it works fine with one exception.

My work computer goes to the lock screen after some enactivity time and to continue I need to press ctrl+alt+del and enter my username and password.

So, the remote access works very well while the work computer is unlocked, as soon as lock screen is kicks in, the remote speech stops, my local NVDA still shows as “connected”, however even choosing “press ctrl+alt+delete” from NVDA remote access menu does not do anything, I am not able to unlock my work PC remotely.

Looks like, it is some kind of limitation of NVDA remote access. I wonder, if development is still going on? After more then a year, I still see the version is 1.2. And my second question, may be someone knows the work around, how I can dismiss this lock screen remotely?

Forgot to mention, I am running windows 7 both, remotely and locally, if it makes any difference. I was also looking for some third_party solution, however did not find anything.

Will greatly appreciate, if someone could please help!

Many thanks.

  Igor.

Hi Maurice.

So NVDA is installed to the computer? When it is running does the nvda
icon appear down near the clock? if you check it with narrator?

If nvda is running you could also check the synth settings to see if the
synth is set to none. Use the nvda key +ctrl key + the letter S.

The default synth is the E speak one so when the dialogue come up if it
is set to no speech use the letter E to get you up to the E speak synth
then tab 2 times until you get to the ok button. Hopefully it will come
back that way.

it might be that you have turned off speech in nvda. If this is the case
or something has reverted it to no speech, you could try the following.

You could use the nvda key + the letter S to toggle between no speech to
talk. You will hear no speech, beep then talk.

You might of put nvda to sleep if this is the case to wake him up use
the nvda + shift key + the letter S.

This will take him if he is in sleep mode to sleep mode off.

I haven't tried recent snapshots.  In a considerably earlier snapshot, I have no such problem related to the add on.  Whether those running recent snapshots do is something I have no idea about.

I've had no problems in xp but be aware some odd errors seem to occur with
some add ons in xp but they can be hard to pin down. for example systray
elements works, but causes anerror on exit from nvda.

I don't know anything about "NVDA 12.1" but the most recent release of
NVDA is version 2016.3 which works just fine on my WinXP machine.

Check the NVAccess web site for that one.

Hello all,

I have a XP computer on which I had NVDA 12.1, which I lost recently.

I have a download package from which you install, but after
installation, it just opens and closes, no speech .

A. any idea's why it will not install correctly and where can I
download
another software application package, as could not find version 12.1 on
the NVDA site.

Thanks, Maurice.

There is also inclusive Android.

Kindle Fire is Android based and thus it qualifies for discussion on that website.

Hi folks. Forgive the very off-topic nature of this post but I've tried
googling with no success other than someone else looking for the same thing
back in 2012 but with no responses. Does anyone know if there is a blind
kindle users list? I'm not a kindle owner myself but with the advent of the
kindle fire HD 8 launched last week I plan on getting one.

I think this would be a great resource for me to gather as much knowledge as
possible.

Thanks.

Re: Windows 7 query

Gene

The message may simply be flyout.  Flyout is a term used to indicate some sort of problem or problems.  I don't have the technical knowledge to describe it further.  Try opening the item in all possible ways.  That is, using the single left click, double left click, and right click options.  See if it opens correctly with any of them.

My network connection in Windows 7 only opens correctly if I use the left single click option when in the systray dialog.

Subject: [nvda] Windows 7 query

Using latest nvda, and the user promoted section, otherwise known as the sys
tray has a message to review for a possible problem. when this is opened it
says action centre fly out. However none of the options normally on there as
far as nvda is concerned can provide access to the message itself.

On using nvda/B there are other  messages on the screen but no way to access
them, and the screen will continuously repeat over and over until its
stopped which suggests to me that its not working correctly, as normally
nvda would in fact stop at the bottom.
Any ideas on how to see this elusive message which windows obviously wishes
to hide from me?
