Agreed, please summaries in your notes next time for those of us who can't or don't want to watch the vid. I do this all the time in my podcast, or try to.

What a poor tactic to gain more views for your video!
You could of said which hotkeys in your post, or at least what is the function of them.

Nimer, you’re right. The synth Thee was using is the Microsoft Mark voice.

Thee, many thanks for not only producing these videos but for alerting the list that they are available.

I’m not at all embarrassed to say that I barely remembered reading about how to add a new instance or go to the most recent instance of a window within a running application. This was an example of how reading a command list didn’t make it easy for me to understand the concept but hearing your demo switched on that light bulb. Please continue to do what you’re doing.

Are you people serious? First, there are countless videos on Youtube primarily for sighted users containing how-to guides on any number of topics. Of course, compiling the essentials in a written post might be a faster way for some people to absorb it. Notice I said some people as others prefer being taught by someone explaining and demonstrating a concept. Many people learn better being taught by a knowledgeable human being instead of from reading an article. Others subscribe to a channel not only for the information but because they like the personality of the presenter and enjoy their style. Those who don't like teaching or training videos can simply not view them and consume the material in a way that works for them instead of showing such incredible rudeness toward someone who is doing a tremendous public service.

And without foundation.  TheeQuinn has been producing NVDA-centric and Windows-centric content of very high quality for quite some time now.  There is no need for her to "promote herself" here as those who have paid any attention to what passes through this group will already be familiar with her work because others have referenced it.  Her content related to using Microsoft Excel, in particular, with NVDA has also come up on the Microsoft Office Accessibility Discussion Group on multiple occasions.

As you've noted, the convention is to call anything distributed by YouTube a video, whether there is any "real" video content or not.  In this particular case and for this particular video there is not, it uses a placeholder graphic which is all that's on display throughout the presentation.  This is hardly limited to TheeQuinn and is done by many YouTube content producers.  Actual video instruction is nice, particularly if you (the producer) are capable of producing it and have as your intention targeting both a blind and sighted audience, but even then, it's not absolutely essential.

In this case it's an audio-only presentation and based on what I can see of this producer's channel content I fully expect that's how all her content is produced.  They're "audio only" videos or videos in name only.  And that's not a criticism, particularly given her primary target audience.

Some of the comments on this topic have been repugnant, to put it mildly.  I have yet to see any one of those making them produce content of the quality and scope that TheeQuinn has already produced.  And until they do they are being unkind, rude, and just plain nasty.  The comments are entirely, and I do mean entirely, uncalled for.

the question as to whether the commands  should be listed in the message is a valid one for discussion but the manner in which it has been raised, assuming the bad motivation to increase views is the reason is without evidence.  I don’t have an opinion about whether the commands should be given in the message.  but this kind of criticism, assuming bad motivation as is done in the message that assumes this is done to increase views is really inappropriate and unfair to someone who is producing good quality material.

I don’t know what the comment means that says just give the information and never mind a video.

The recording is referred to as a video because it is on Youtube.  Even if there is only audio, it is customary to refer to material on Youtube as a video.  There has to be something shown, evenif it is only a still picture of something like a person or a book or a table or whatever.

I don’t know if there is a [picture of anything being done and I don’t care.  the verbal instruction is good.

Amen!  And it's not even constructive criticism, but of the, "This doesn't meet my preferences!!," type whining.  Your preferences are not what determines how others make content that they're giving away, freely.

If anyone ever wants an example of the old saying, "No good deed goes unpunished," they should be pointed to this topic.

For the love of heaven, show a bit of gratitude for someone creating content that's focused on your own community and that does it well!

Re: espeak NG

Hi, As I've said before, speech synthesizers are a significant personal preference thing. I suggest that you browse through all the eSpeak variants, and I promise that you'll be able to narrow it down to a select few within no time. I suggest that you try the following variants: Edward and Edward2, all the klatt voices, male 1-8, female 1-5 or 6, all Iven variants. Hope this helps.
