As always, I appreciate everything you do! Thank you for such an informative message. I will try this as soon as I get to my workstation. But, it sounds like that will fix my problem. I still remember seeing a lot longer of a list in NVDA recently. And, the braille note touch was part of that list. Still not sure what happened… But if this works, I guess it doesn’t matter. Again, thank you for everything you do! You have always been so helpful.

Re: new subscriber with braille display issues
Hi, I see. Humanware does have a page with a download link for the braille display driver: https://support.humanware.com/en-canada/support/braillenote_touch/using_your_braillenote_touch_as_a_braille_display Basically, you would:
If things went well, you will see the contents of the screen on the braille display. IMPORTANT: if you connect the Touch Plus without starting Braille Terminal, Windows will recognize Touch Plus as an Android device. In case you didn't know, there is a dedicated list for BrailleNote users on Groups.IO where folks do discuss braille display connection questions from time to time: https://groups.io/g/braillenote Cheers, Joseph

Also, in the copy file progress dialog, if you select more
details, you will not hear beeps. It is a toggle and you can TAB
around the dialog to find it. If it says more details, you should
be hearing beeps, because you are actually on less details. If you
press space-bar here, you will hear speech say less details, which
means that more details are actually showing.

Ok to answer some of the questions.

I have rebooted several times. I have uninstalled several times. I have deleted my nvda folder under the app data. I have ran C cleaner and cleaned my registry after uninstalling NVDA. I have used the run comm registration tool. I have searched for braille note touch drivers for NVDA and haven't found anything that wasn't at least 3 years old or so. I have a Braille Note Touch plus and I'm trying to use the USB connection. The autodetect has been tried several times. Not sure if I have answered all of the questions. Hopefully you guys have some more ideas because I'm still seeing a basic list of braille displays. Eco hito mdv lilly, papenmire seka, and no braille. Thanks again for all of the help bb

Either you set it incorrectly or there is another problem. There is a shortcut command that allows you to change the setting on the fly. You don’t have to be in NVDA to do this. Use the command NVDA u to cycle through the options. Try moving through them, stopping on the one you want, and see if it works as expected. If not try rebooting.

Hello ALL, I don’t know what I have done but hear is my problem. When pasting a large number of files from the clipboard to another location nvda used to beep in ascending notes to give me an idea as to how far this action progressed. For some reason this doesn’t now occur. In object orientation I set the progress bar to beeps but the result is the same. Any help please as I prefer beeps to speech saying “two percent”. Kind regards, Dennis huckle.

Hello Jean, Well, tried all that but no change. I also reset configuration to factory settings. I may have “messed things up” as I wanted to record a live tv program and used xbox gaming bar. The tv recording came out ok but I wonder whether I messed up nvda beeps. The beeps only don’t occur when pasting from the clipboard. However they do occur when going to outlook to check e-mails. Still learning about the ins and outs of nvda so any help welcome. Kind regards, Dennis huckle.

Figured it out. you need the hybernate option enabled before the fast startup shows up. For some reason on my laptop hybernate was off.

Re: win 10 power settings

I don’t know what the problem is but unless or until you can disable it,
you can easily work around the problem. I can’t tell you just how often to
do so, but perhaps every three or four days, do a restart, not a shutdown.
If you do that, Windows will completely reboot. If fast boot is currently
on, it won’t fully reboot if you shut down and then start the computer
again.
You can experiment if you wish. You may be able to go longer without
a restart. If you don’t do a restart at intervals, you will have
performance problems just as you would if you let your computer run and never
rebooted.
If you install programs or do anything where a full boot of Windows is
needed, use restart.
